If you are a regular reader of Freya’s work than you have already met Trunk he was Autumn’s brother in Tracking Tahlula Trunk is such a contradiction big and tough and a biker but also a psychologist and dreamer and when he meets Jamie all bets are off. This is a book that has many dark moments but the overall story is one of trust and building relationships Do yourself a favour and one click it
When Jaimie and Trunk come together at first, they barely connect. They’ve both got baggage. She in the form of distrust of men and being a single mom, and he because of his past. He comes across as grumpy and monosyllabic, and she comes across as almost too tough, at first. But once they start letting each other in, it’s as if the walls come tumbling down and their true natures shine through.
I loved Jaimie and Trunk together. Their story is a bit heart-tugging, it’s fast-paced and full of chemistry for days. Can’t wait for more of Arrow’s Edge MC!
#thanks for the ARC #ilovedurango #arrowsedgemc
Oh yeah, this one is hard stuff. Nearly blasted my marriage 🙂
I wasn’t able to put the book aside. Laundry ? What ? Not yet…just 150 Pages to go….
Dishes ? What? Never mind just 10 Pages to go…
Now I’m finished and Hubby is soothed, thank God.
Just searching for a word….. And I noticed that every word sucks. Yes, this book is a so – called interracial – romantic – suspense. Whoa, and that’s the problem in general (and the theme of this book.). Why aren’t people able to look someone in the eyes and not at the color of their skin. Racism has many faces but none is good.
Trunk is a psychologist for kids and Jaimie the agent for Talula Rea. I loved that all the folks from Call on duty (Operation alpha) were here in Durango again. I really looked forward to this book because I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of Freya’s writing.
Freya Barkers Themes are so real and scary for real life, because it happens every day. Also are her characters so close to real living that every new book feels like coming home to Durango again. I couldn’t stop myself from reading. This one is more suspenseful and because of the kids more scary.
This is very worth a read.
My friend is always raving about Freya Barker’s writing and with this great to this new series I can see why. I am seriously looking forward to seeing what is going to come next with this series.
. he
In this book she has tackled some very serious and heavy subjects but she has done it in a brilliant way. The characters in this book seriously embedded themselves in my heart with this one.
Trunk, aka Titus, is a gentle giant. He may look like a huge, tough guy and unapproachable but he seriously has a heart of gold when it comes to the people in his life. He had a tough childhood and practically raised his sister and he is swoon-worthily protective of her. His soft heart really shows with the way he protects the kids that are placed in the MC’s care.
Jaimie is rebuilding her life after divorcing her vile husband. She has moved to town to rebuild her life with her adorable son River. I really loved her spunk and feisty side when she stands up to Trunk. If she thought this would put him off she couldn’t have been more wrong as it woke something up in Trunk that he didn’t think he was looking for.
I loved all the characters in this one. The connections and relationships between them all was intriguing really draws your interest in. I can’t wait to see what she brings us next.
Trunk and Jaimie are a couple who play off each other so good!!
Trunk has a heart of gold but covers it with the chip on his shoulder that life put there , then Jaimie she is a stubborn as they come but falls for Trunk like he falls for her, they both have to learn to play well together to keep those they love safe.
Ms. Barker is always a one-click for me and this one does not disappoint. This comes from the Arrows Edge MC arena. Trunk is all things you want in a book boyfriend and Jamie is a perfect fit for him. Their chemistry is palpable and you’re quickly swallowed up in their journey. Several things happen that make you catch your breath, because some themes hit close to home, but overall you’re wrapped up in this couple and quickly turning the pages to see how it all comes together. If this is your first Freya Barker novel you need to go back and read everything she writes, what a talent! If this is your continuing love for Ms. Barker’s books – welcome to club.
Trunk and Jamie – Freya Barker’s latest super couple. This book dealt with some controversial topics – racism, single parenthood, just to mention a couple. But Freya brought us through it to our happily ever after for this couple.
Trunk grew up poor, black, never knowing his father, and a druggie mother. This has made him a little rough around the edges but while we watch some of those edges smooth out, we fall in love with our hero.
Jamie is a single mother, divorced from her racist ex husband. She’s moved to a new town and embarked on a new career, agent to Trunk’s author sister, Talulah. And her mother has recently moved into her garage apartment.
But even with all the intrigue and not so accidental accidents happening, Trunk and Jamie manage to overcome their resistance to all things love and……well, I’ll just let you read the book and see what they discover.
Freya Barker is an amazing author. She gives us strong independent women, the kind that don’t need a man and don’t really want one, either, but when the right one comes along, they’re all in. Freya gives us the alpha man that we want, the one we wish we had, but yet can show us their softer sides without taking away any of their alphaness.
By the way, I think I got a sample of how Freya’s mind works with this book. Every new character she introduced in this new book, my mind raced off, thinking of what kind of woman/man they needed and how would they become introduced and how other characters would figure into the story and….and…..and…..wow, Freya, how do you live like that? (lol)
A new spin off series by Freya Barker that totally hits the spot. In the book we get the story of Trunk, the MC biker, child therapist and Jaimie the single mom, relocating for a fresh start. We met both Trunk and Jaimie in Tracking Tahlula, Trunk is Tuhlula’s gruff skeptical brother and Jaimie is Tahula’s agent and co-worker. This book can be read as a stand alone (but I personally liked the glimpse we got from the other book). This story is a total opposites cross paths read and really liked how well written and thoughtful their story was told. We learn to understand and love Trunk for who he is and root for him Jaimie right from the start. Plenty of action and chemistry to keep this story moving along. A great start to a new series.
Another amazing story from Freya Barker. This is the first book in her spin off of the Arrow’s Edge MC. Titus Maximus Rae “Trunk” is Tahlula’s brother who we met in Tracking Tahlula. Jamie is Tahlula’s assistant and has recently moved to Durango with her infant son to start a new life.
This story moved me so much. Truck and Jaimie had this undeniable chemistry but life experiences made Trunk a hard man with many demons. Jaimie had her own issues she was dealing with but saw something in Trunk that she knew she couldn’t walk away from. These two both faced adversity and judgment but found a way to trust in each other.
One of the things I love most about Freya’s writing style is the relationships with all the characters and the way her stories flow. Twists and turns, character depth and human emotions are all front and center in this book. I think this is one of her best to date.
Yay… The Arrow’s Edge MC is getting a series….. I am so excited. For a seasoned Barker reader, we have had a few peeks at this great group of men, who have turned their club into a legal entity who thrived on the feeling of family and brotherhood that an MC provided to wandering souls. But they have added another depth by helping troubled boys find a respectable path. For a new Barker reader, you will be able to read along and understand the MC without feeling lost, but I bet you will be looking back for those books that involve these folks to get the full story.
Trunk (Titus) is a big broody black man, who on the outside has a mountain sized chip on his shoulder, but on this inside is a big old teddy bear. Growing up with a single mother who was taken way to early by the reality of drugs, he was thrown into a parental roll, helping to guide his little sister on the right path. Working hard and becoming a successful child psychologist. Relationships of the heart haven’t really had space in his life but for some reason he is drawn to this beautiful blonde spitfire.
Jamie is struggling a bit with starting over after the recent discoveries of her ex-husband and his ties to horrible racist groups. The horrible things that he did to her friend and boss. But she is nothing if not determined. Raising her little boy on her own in a new town with new friends helping her along the way. Jamie has proven to be a strong loving woman with an open mind. She has been watching the broody black man from afar, not ready for a new relationship just yet.
Ms. Barker has a special knack for weaving a story full of mystery & suspense that keeps you tied to your chair reading, unexpected romantic relationships that come from mature characters who understand life is too short, and strong flawed characters that will bore into your heart. She has done all of the above with this book while added the seriousness of biracial relationships and the troubles they face.
I can’t wait for more Arrow’s Edge and second changes.
*** Advanced copy provided in exchange for an honest review.***
Taluhla is a beautiful mixed race author. Her dark chocolate brother loves her and her baby like crazy, and is thrilled she has her Evan and a new baby on the way- well, as thrilled as Trunk gets.
Her assistant Jaime is a gorgeous blond, with an adorable baby boy who bonds quickly with Trunk.
The only family Trunk and Taluhla had before was each other. As they settle into new lives and lives and grow them in unexpected ways.
They face many frightening and awful challenges along the way. The one and only thing that can save all of them is the unlimited and colorblind love that a child like River has. The love that Momma has for the orphans. The love and friendship they have in the extended family of their community.

Just when I think I’ve read the best book Freya Barker comes out with a new one releases that proves me wrong. Edge of Reason is that book for me. I’ve loved everything I’ve read by Ms. Barker and I get super excited when she starts a new series. Edge of Reason is the first book in her new Arrow’s Edge MC series. The reader has seen several of the members in some of her other books and I cannot wait to see who gets their stories. Trunk, the hero of this book, was introduced as Tahlulah’s overprotective brother in Ms. Barker’s Tracking Tahlulah in her On Call series.
Trunk (Titus) is a complex character with a lot of backstory. The son of a drug addicted mother, he was forced to care for his younger sister after their mother’s death. He knew the value of an education and made sure both he and his sister could make their way out of their humble beginnings. As a child psychologist fed up with the system, he jumps at the chance to follow his sister to Durango and sign on as the child psychologist for the Arrow’s Edge MC, who helps at risk boys. The move allows him to join an MC with legitimate businesses, help children, be close to his sister and niece, and in an unexpected turn, follow up on a spark he felt with Tahlula’s assistant, Jaime.
Jaime’s had a rough go after finding her sleezeball ex was a member of a racist group targeting her boss. Even though he’s in jail, she’s still dealing with the aftereffects. With a small son and a full-time job, she has little time for herself. Still, her boss’s brooding brother gets her heart pounding whenever they are in the same room. Both Trunk and Jaime try to fight the attraction, but when things start going wrong at the MC and Jaime appears to be at risk, the overprotective alpha goes into overdrive.
In the style that Ms. Barker has perfected, she hones a story of intrigue, danger, passion, loyalty, and love. I love that her characters are mature and realize tomorrow isn’t always guaranteed and they grab life by the horns and go after their HEAs. The plot moves along, the issues Ms. Barker brings to light are timely and often in the news, and the writing is on point. Ms. Barker’s characters grab the reader from page one and hang on long after the last page. I highly recommend grabbing this first book in her new series and settle in for the emotionally packed ride Ms. Barker takes you on.
This is a great book. As with all of her books, I couldn’t put it down. I had read tracking tahlula so I couldn’t wait to read Jamie and Titus’s story. He is such a teddy bear under that grouchy outer layer I couldn’t wait to see how he would finally open up to Jamie and how Jamie would react after everything that she went thru with her ex. And seeing Titus with river was just adorable, and I love how they grew and figured things out together. It’s just amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one so I can see how they progress in the future and I can’t wait to find out if Lula and Evan have another girl or if they have a boy hehe!

Freya Barkers books always amaze me! She know how to write characters with depth and interest. The ones that you would like to get to know. She is not afraid to touch on sensitive subjects and The Edge of Reason is all that and more. This book has those sweet moments that make you smile, but will also show the very bad and ugly side of humanity. In the end the good conquers the evil but at what cost?
Trunk is the big guy, the misunderstood guy, but he is also the sensitive guy with a big heart. He is gruff, tough and will protect those he loves so when he meets Jaimie and her young son, his heart is lost to her beauty, inside and out and he will do whatever is necessary to keep her and her family safe.
Jaimie is a single mom coming out of a very bad relationship, the kind that your ex ends up in jail. Her self esteem has taken a hit but when Trunk ends up in her life everything changes for the better. The journey to get to the happiness was not easy at all but worth it in the end.
Edge of Reason is full of the perfect amount of intrigue and twists and turns that will keep you thoroughly engaged from beginning to end. I am looking forward to seeing what is coming next in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Brotherhood and beer meets single mom and apple pie.
My name is Trunk. I am a riding contradiction. A scholar, a cynic, a brother and a biker. My name is Trunk. I’m smart enough to recognize the chip on my shoulder, and cautious enough to keep it right where it is.
I am a misguided romantic. A mom, a daughter, an agent, and a survivor. A mom to a daughter, an agent, and a survivor. My name is Jaimie. I’m strong enough to look after my family alone, and too stubborn to accept I don’t have to. We made an odd couple-our differences obvious-but when hatred and danger threatens to destroy everything of value in our lives, we only get stronger. Together.
Meet Trunk and fall just as in love with his as I did. He is a hardened hero. Life has made him that way. From the time he was a child to no he has dealt with so much more than most people do in a lifetime. And while you would think this might make him a horrible person to even like he is so lovable but does have a big old chip sitting on his shoulder. He especially has a huge heart for kids. He is their protector and never wants to see any of them as broke as he is. He too has this huge attraction to Jaimie but he wouldn’t be who he is if he didn’t fight it. However Jaimie is one tough heroine and gives as good as she gets and she is determined to that she needs make Trunk see that she should have just as much say in making decisions as he does. He doesn’t need to make them all for himself. These two are perfect for each other and I loved getting to know them and watching their story unfold. This is a book that will melt your heart. Freya Barker just has this magically way with words and you never want her stories to end.
Absolutely freaking loved this book! Not only was the story phenomenally written, but I really fell for Trunk and Jaimie!!! Such incredibly tough characters that had already endured so much, gah! I hated knowing there was still more trauma to come. This is an engaging drama filled with angst and mystery. I was so engaged and captivated I read the book straight through!
Trunk and Jaimie are two damaged souls trying to survive life. Each recovering from a damaged past. Little do they know that past isn’t done with them and they will have to fight even harder to keep it from ruining what they have found in each other.
“I walk through your door and all the weight falls right off me. You’re my island in a sea of chaos.”
SAAWOOON!!! I was on the edge of my seat routing for them to make it!! If you’ve read Tracking Tahlula, then you’ve met Trunk and are well versed with this aloof man who communicates in grunts. Which really makes seeing how devoted he is to his niece and River in this book so heart-melting. We finally get to see what Trunk’s been hiding underneath that hard exterior. And let me tell you, seeing the softer side to Trunk made me feel like I found a treasure!
Brilliantly told story!! I highly recommend this gem full of all the feels!!
I read and ARC of this book. My fair and honest review is voluntary.
What can I say about Freya Barker and Edge of Reason? Well, if you’ve read any of her books, you already know just how incredibly talented this woman is…and if you’ve read any of my reviews of her books, you already know she’s one of my FAVE unicorn authors! I find I repeat myself frequently when it comes to her books, because there aren’t enough words in my vocabulary to describe just how awesome they really are! She amazes me with every single one!!! Trunk (Titus) and Jaime’s story is no exception….if anything, it’s probably my favourite book she’s written yet, full of Freya’s trademark style that hooks you in the first chapter and doesn’t let you go until the end of the last one!
We first met both Jaime and Trunk in Tracking Tahlula, where Trunk was Tahlula’s protective, Alpha-to-the-max older brother who is with the Arrow’s Edge MC working with the boys that the MC cares for. That alone should let you know just how deep this man is. Let’s just say that it’s the quiet ones you really have to watch out for….
Jaime also has some issues she has to overcome. Mainly her sleezebag ex who is in prison for doing some pretty horrific things (and may be behind some scary things happening around her now) She’s a strong, resilient, sometimes sharp-tongued woman who captures Trunk’s attention and together, they navigate through some angst and suspense that had me sitting right on the edge of my seat until it all wraps up in the glorious epilogue at the end!
Once again, Ms. Barker’s words just wrap around your heart and soul, making you fall head-over-heels in love with two characters who FEEL like they’re so very real! Do yourself a favour and give this author a chance…you definitely won’t regret it! I can’t WAIT for more of the Arrow’s Edge MC series!!!
Freya never disappoints.
I have family in Durango area and have visited there and I love that the stories are set there.
Trunk grew up poor, black and often hungry with a little sister to watch out for and an addicted mother. Life taught him racism was alive and well in America, but he overcame his childhood got his PhD in psychology and works with troubled kids. A year ago he joined with an MC taking in and fostering troubled boys from the streets, as young as 6 to 18.
Jamie meets Trunk through his sister who she works for, as well as being a friend. Blond blue eyed just out of a bad marriage she has settled in Durango to start over with her 1 year old son and her mom.
These two are drawn together, can they heal their hurts enough to form a relationship.
Lots of tears, laughter with good friends and family as they fight the evils that mess with their family and friends.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another stunning gripping story from Freya. It touches on many “taboo” subjects like mixed race relationships, racism and in build scepticism of peoples motives. Trunk and Jamie are perfect matches for esch other as they smooth out each others rough edges and shows them not everyone of the oppisit sex or a different colour is bad. A fab suspenseful read.
4.5 stars
Jamie and Trunk were first introduced in Tracking Tahlula (part of the On Call series) and I was immediately wondering when their story would be coming our way. Fortunately we didn’t have long to wait! Do not feel that you need to read Tahlula’s story first as Trunk and Jamie’s backstories are explained in Edge of Reason- but I will certainly recommend it if you haven’t already read it 😉
Jamie was too trusting once and it brought her nothing but misery… well almost nothing. She has 1 yr old River who is the light of her life. But now she is a bit jaded and cynical, and Lord help the person who insinuates she needs help. She is independent to a fault but she doesn’t take it to the extreme. She is quick to realize when others are just trying to help her and doesn’t unreasonably hold onto a moment of irritation. Tahlula has turned into an unexpected friend who has given her a fresh start, and her brother Titus aka Trunk is one hot but infuriating part of her new life.
Trunk learned early in life the harsh reality of race relations and spent time on the streets. His only true family was his half sister Tahlula who he became a father figure for. He has a serious chip on his shoulder and his communication generally ranges from grunts to monosyllabic answers, but the beautiful Jamie throws him off his game. Normally he is fine with the occasional female companionship to scratch an itch, but for some reason Jamie has grabbed his attention and he can’t get this woman out if his mind after the few brief interactions they have had. Beneath the hard exterior he is a big ol’ softie especially when it comes to kids. He uses his background in psychology to help the runaways and homeless kids that the MC takes in off the streets and puts his own experiences to use in the process. Distractions don’t fit into his life especially with the seemingly constant problems cropping up for the club, and he becomes the king of mixed signals as he fights his attraction. Cue the fireworks folks!
River is an adorable little scene stealer, and as a baby he is blessed with ignorance of adult prejudice when it comes to skin color. Unfortunately Jamie and Trunk face their fair share of stupid people, especially when it comes to her ex-husband and his band of white supremacists. These challenges were addressed so very well and I loved it. So many sweet moments between River and Trunk had me melting into a big ol’ puddle!
Edge of Reason features a lot of familiar faces with wonderful interactions between all the characters that had me hooked from start to finish. The new challenges being faced by Arrow’s Edge were interwoven seamlessly with Jamie’s past and Tahlula’s recent experiences to tie them all together. Once again Ms. Barker has provided us with another amazing heartwarming story with everything I have come to expect in a great romantic suspense read!
