A scholar, a cynic, a brother, and a biker. My name is Trunk.I’m smart enough to recognize the chip on my shoulder, and cautious enough to keep it right where it is. I am a misguided romantic.A mom, a daughter, an agent, and a survivorMy name is Jaimie. I’m strong enough to look after my family alone, and too stubborn … enough to look after my family alone, and too stubborn to accept I don’t have to.
We make an odd couple—our differences obvious—but when hatred and danger threatens to destroy everything of value in our lives, we only get stronger.

Edge of Reason is Freya Barker’s first book in the new Arrow’s Edge MC series. I’ve been waiting for this series since I read about Luna and Ouray. Trunk and Jaimie are unlike any other couple I’ve read about. And not just because this book is about a black man and a white woman. It’s because this book is about a Man and a Woman who love beyond reason or race. Jaimie has been through a terrible marriage to a man with nothing but hate in his eyes and race on his mind. But she’d do it all again because she was blessed with her adorable son, River. Jaimie also has an amazing Mom that raised her to be the strong, independent woman she is. Trunk…I was curious about how Freya would handle his character. Especially after some of his comments in Tracking Tahlula, but she handled it amazingly. Trunk didn’t have the best upbringing, and even though he sometimes sees the world in black and white, he has a pure soul and a beautiful heart. Once he stopped fighting his feelings for Jaimie, he gave his heart to her and River. There are quite a few twists and turns, hot scenes, old friends, and new ones. I cannot wait for book 2!!
I love reading MC books with smoking hot, sexy alphas who take no shit. Arrows Edge MC is starting out as an amazing series. Edge of Reason is a fast paced, easy read. It sucks you into the story and is hard to put down. This is Trunk (Titus) and Jaimie’s story. These two characters fit together perfectly. I was hanging on by the edge of my seat in suspense until almost the end of the book. I love that characters from Freya’s other books pop up in this story.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Arrows Edge MC series.
This book was, in my mind, phenomenal.
I was curious how this new series would play out and, as always, Freya Barker didn’t disappoint me. MC series can be very dark or barely touch the lifestyle at all. This book is the perfect blend of those extremes and I was immediately pulled in to Trunk and Jaimie’s story.
What do a gruff, protective, irritable biker and a strong, independent single mom have in common? Not much. Both have walls a mile high but neither can deny their intense attraction. Trunk is balancing the needs of his MC with his desire to be a part of Jaimie and her son, River’s lives. He’s struggling with being pulled in different directions but when he discovers that Jaimie’s ex is reaching out from prison, the protector in him rises up and he finds himself willing to do whatever it takes to keep them safe.
To say that I loved this story is an understatement. Like all of Freya Barker’s books, the characters are genuinely interesting; real, down to earth and people you would be happy to call friends. There is plenty of action, suspense and a swoon worthy romance to boot. Read this book. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I defy you to read this book without wondering about humanity because there are characters and groups portrayed that really destroy one’s belief in any goodness. But there’s also Trunk, Jaimie, Jaimie’s mom Sandra, and the Arrows Edge MC. Readers of Tracking Tahlula will remember both Trunk (Autumn’s brother) and Jaimie, but it’s not necessary to have read that book first. Freya Barker has the gift of making the reader feel part of the story and she does this here again. My heart was in my throat in so many scenes, especially towards the end (and I’m not posting spoilers), but we’re also part of Trunk and Jaimie’s relationship and privy to Trunk’s and Jaimie’s thoughts and fears, joys, and hopes. The scenes with Trunk and the boys in the club are probably the most heartwarming; the man truly cares and, as a psychologist, is determined to help. – and I want more Arrow’s Edge. Yes, there are bikers; no, the relationship between Trunk and Jaimie isn’t simple and straightforward in any way. And this book is simply outstanding.

I was so excited to read Trunk’s story and Ms. Barker did not disappoint.
Trunk is broody and a bit standoffish, especially when it comes to Jaimie. But when he lets himself take a chance with her, he falls fast and hard. With a strong protective instinct, he often makes decisions before discussing them with her and they have a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to manage this issue.
Jaimie is a strong independent heroine but she’s also got scars from the way her ex treated her. She doesn’t hesitate to let Trunk know when she’s feeling some of the same ways she did with her ex.
I especially loved all the ovary exploding moments when Trunk interacts with Jaimie’s son, River. He is absolutely perfect with him and River is stinking adorable. Kids are often written as a filler but not so here. River’s character was just as developed as Trunk and Jaimie.
The chemistry between this couple absolutely sizzles and the evolution of it from physical desire to something more was pure magic…no games, just good old fashioned romance. This has a lot of drama both in the club and for Trunk and Jaimie individually. I love the way this author layers her plot to leave you guessing as to what’s going on or who the bad guy is.
Looking forward to more in this series!
Edge of Reason follows Jaimie and Trunk. Jaimie, is a single mum to River. Her ex-husband is currently in prison and is a right wing racial fanatic, something he’d kept hidden from her and Trunk is a psychologist with Arrows Edge MC. The 2 start an unlikely relationship at first but then attacks on the Arrows Edge and to Jaimie’s home bring them closer and closer. Another good book in this series.
“Kids aren’t born hating, they’re taught to.”
I was hesitant to start this book as I didn’t have a great first impression of Trunk in Tracking Tahlula and the only reason I jumped in is because I love the author’s writing and she hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
Boy am I glad I took the leap! The love between Trunk and Jaimie can be felt, something that doesn’t always happen in romance stories. The events in this story, boy, some of them are absolutely heart breaking. I was choked up, giggling and thinking OMG multiple times during this read.
An absolutely wonderful read that will leave you thinking about things long after the story ends.
Was a great read and in one respect it was definitely a romantic tale of a biker meets girl and they fall head over heels in love, there was so much more to this book than just Trunk and Jamie falling in love. Trunk is not your “typical” biker (if there is such a person), and neither is the gang to which he belongs. In many ways they are polar opposites to what you “think” a biker gang is about. Jamie is single mum, she’s definitely a feisty women who will go to the ends of the earth to protect her child (especially from his father). It was easy to feel the chemistry between them right from the outset and little in this department was left to the imagination !!! But, it’s the events going on surrounding the biker gang, the kids they take care of and Jamie which really provide the power in this book. These events can’t be independent but then how can they be connected? There are a good few twists and turns and unexpected surprises here to keep you turning the pages.
An excellent book about a biker club and the trouble and times about racism. The club has gone legit and trying to stay that way when they start getting sabatoged. Titus aka Trunk is black and Jamie is white with a baby from a white supremist. There is a lot of danger, shootings and beatings and kidnapping. Titus will do anything to protect Jamie and her baby. The baby is really a funny guy. Trunk is not only a biker, but he’s also a psychologist. A fantastic story and can’t wait for the next book.
One of the biggest reasons I love this author’s work is how much heart she puts in her stories. She has no problem tackling heavy subjects and making these characters easy to relate to even if I’ve never experienced anything they have. I fall hard for them every time.
Trunk (Titus) is such a hardened hero. He’s dealt with so much from the time he was a small child that by the time he’s an adult, he’s got a big old chip on his shoulder. You would think that would make him hard to like. Trunk is actually one of my favorite heroes.
Despite how grumpy and rude he came off at times, he has this huge heart where kids are concerned. The way he protects these broken kids shows his true side. If that wasn’t enough, once he caves to his attraction to Jaimie, you see how much he is a protector of women as he is to kids. How do you not fall hard for that?
Jaimie’s a tough heroine. She’s comes off a little hard herself but what I really loved about her was that she stood up for herself to show Trunk he just needed to include her in the decision, not just make them. I liked that. She wasn’t agains his protective actions, she just wanted him to talk to her.
If you don’t fall hard for this couple, you will certainly for the kids. I really love this world the author has created and I hope there are many more books to come.
There is so much to say about Freya Barker’s latest book, the first installment of her new Arrow’s Edge MC series. We’ve met a lot of the characters in her previous On-Call books, but here we get a meaty and jucy story filled with real characters and a storyline that ferls ripped from the headlines.
Titus “Trunk” Rae is an angry cynical bkack man with a chip the size of Texas on his shoulder. He’s a loner, enjoys his solitude away from people. He’s a chld psychologist who yearns for a connection but is leery given his misguided cynicism towards most white people and the world at large. He meets divorced, single white mother, Jaimie, after she’s forced to start over when her husband tries to kill her best friend. Sparks fly and the sarcastic wordplay betweeh Trunk and Jaimie makes the pages fly by and the heat burns right through the pages.
Secondary characters like Sandra (Jaimie’s mother) and Ezrah, a young boy terrorized by a white supremacy group, make the story pop and add some much appreciated comedy and touching scenes that break your heart and give you hope for humanity!
It’s no secret I always enjoy this Author’s books so I was really excited to dive into her first book in this new series, Arrow’s Edge! I had been looking forward to Jaimie and Trunk’s story and it did not disappoint! It was easy to connect with them as a couple and the story kept my attention from start to finish. I loved the appearances by characters of previous books and I’m really excited to see what happens next with the men of Arrow’s Edge! If you’ve enjoyed other books by Freya Barker I highly expect you to love this one!
Fantastic, I loved it!
Trunk, big, burley, lacking in social graces with a heart of gold and lust in his eyes for Jamie and Jamie alone. Jamie, divorced from an abusive chameleon with a horrific agenda and in hiding from his organization. Now a single parent, she’s just trying to make a good life for her and her young son. Freya Barker writes a riveting, timely story filled with rich, well developed characters and dialogue that not only rings true, but flows smoothly and effortlessly. The scenes are so descriptive that you can close your eyes and see the action as you listen to the marvelous narration. This story is disturbing and painful on so many levels, primarily because I am certain for some, this story is all to real. Thank you Freya Barker. Everyone needs to listen to this one. Five stars fabulous! I can’t wait for more in this series!
This is a wonderful story! It really drew me in and Kept me fascinated. Trunk is just amazing and I grew to love him. Jaimie is strong and she surprised me more than once.
This is so much more than a romance. Its a great action filled story with wonderful characters. I listened to this on audio and the narration is well done and easy to listen to.
Edge of Reason
Arrow’s Edge MC, Book 1
By: Freya Barker
Narrated by: Krystal Hammond, Chance Smolders
Freya Barker has risen to one of my top authors. I love that she has realistic characters, and they are closer to my age! It makes me want to devour all of her stories. This new series has caught my attention for a couple of reasons. Not only does it have all the things that push my buttons, like romance, suspense and men with children, but I love how she melds relevant issues into her stories, making the listen that much more interesting. Trunk is part of the Arrow’s Edge MC. Not looking for a relationship, he shies away from those clingy women. But his sister Tahlula has an employee who has caught his eye. Jaimie has moved into town with her young son, River and her mom and Trunk just cannot stop thinking about her. Jaimie has just gotten out of a terrible relationship and she is constantly looking over her shoulder for her ex to make the next move. Even from jail, he is a danger to her and her son. These two find themselves unable to prevent getting together and their story really takes off. Scenes with Jaimie and Trunk, Jaimie’s mom and Ezra the troubled boy, Trunk and River all are amazingly heart warming. But it doesn’t stop there. Danger is lurking, and it comes from the least expected place. High suspense will keep you listening as you hear just how vicious things are going to get. Barker takes it all on, making the heart pound and sing! It’s a fabulous listen.
Krystal Hammond and Chance Smolders are our story tellers and they are fantastic! Hammond is amazing as Jaimie. She is an incredibly protective mother, warm hearted and hesitant to give her heart away. Hammond’s nuance and inflections bring that all out. Chance Smolders is that protective alpha, giving that feeling of warmth. Tender, loving and ferocious, he lends it all to Trunk making him the hero we all love. These two are wonderful and the casting is perfect!

Series: Arrow’s Edge MC, Book 1
Freya Barker caught my attention with her fabulous “Northern Lights” series and she quickly became one of my favorite authors. I enjoy her writing style and the characters and storylines she creates, they are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. She is a master at bringing in actual life situations into her books, some serious, some that are hard to take about but shouldn’t be, and she shows you just that in her beautiful way with words. Arrow’s Edge MC is so much more than your typical motorcycle club, Tank is one of its members and he does a lot for the club and the community, he is also a child psychologist and gets called out to help children in need. Though you would have known this by meeting him, he appears to be a badass biker with a serious alpha-tude, it goes to show that you can not judge a book by its cover or that first impressions are not always right. He had been in those kids’ shoes and knows what it is like to have a rough childhood, he also tries his best to reach them on their level. Jaime got out of a terrible relationship, she moved to a new town, with her toddler son, River along with her Mom. She works for Trunk’s sister Tahlula and they have met, but he would try to ignore her. There is an attraction between them despite their differences in personality and appearances, he fights that attraction but that changes when he sees someone else make a move on her. Their relationship starts off slow and on shaky grounds, both have a lot going on in their lives and when things get rough, it brings them closer together. Trunk was aces with her son River and once he warmed up to the idea of having a woman, he showed a whole other side of himself, his endearments to Jaimie were absolutely swoon worthy. A lot goes on in this fast paced and brilliantly plotted story, there is plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and a hot romance. Freya Barker, thank you for another outstanding novel and for keeping it real.
And for the fabulous narration, Krystal Hammond and Chance Smolders are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. Both are talented voice artists and entertaining storytellers. It was a pleasure to listen to your performances and I am looking forward to hearing more of your work soon.
This is the first book in the Arrow’s Edge MC series and a fantastic read. It features child psychologist, Titus Maximus Rae aka Trunk and book agent, Jaimie Lynn Belcamp aka Little Mama. These have a love/hate relationship and has been dancing around each other since they met. She is the beautiful curvy blonde haired blue eyed friend and agent for Trunk’s half sister. Trunk is the huge handsome African American psychologist for the local MC. This is not the average MC. It operates on the right side of the law as much as possible and makes its money with several legitimate businesses around Durango. It also houses homeless boys and provides for them mentally and physically. When the club’s businesses are hit with vandalism and sabotage they suffer. Jaimie also starts experiencing some problems she thinks has to do with her racist ex-husband and father of her son River. When Trunk pulls his head out of you know where these two are amazing but both are in big danger. This book has action, suspense, humor, a traumatized child, a sweet mother/grandmother, the police and FBI from the On Call series, a nasty white supremacy group, hoy steamy scenes and proof love is more than skin deep. I’m excited to read more in this series.
Edge of Reason by Freya Barker is the first book in her Arrow’s Edge MC series.
I somehow missed Ouray and Luna’s story but with that I didn’t have any problem getting into this book. With each new series Ms. Barker writes she wraps the reader up into story until the very end. But if you read Tracking Tahlula you’ll know who Trunk or Titus Maximus Rae is as well as Jamie as they are both in that story.
Jaimie has settled in and thriving as Tahlula’s personal assistant with her mom Sandra and son River. There’s an attraction between her and Trunk but he’s busy trying to keep the Arrow’s Edge MC together when it’s attacked by unknown forces bent on revenge as well as trying to raise the boys that they’ve taken into the club. Can both Jaimie and Trunk join forces to find who is doing the attacks and why? You’ll love Sandra with her humor and way that she knows that Trunk is the “one” for her daughter after her ex-husband who was involved with white supremacist group (Don’t think they’ve gone away because they are reinventing themselves constantly). I also fell in love with Ezra and his connection with both Jaimie and Trunk as well as little River.
This will have you wrapped into the plot until the very end with an explosive conclusion. You’ll also be introduced to Brick who’ll be joining the MC and giving Jaimie and Trunk their own HEA.
This book took on some difficult subjects and still managed to tell an amazing love story. In ‘Edge of Reason’ We meet Jamie, a newly divorced woman living with her mother and infant son. She works as an assistant for a successful author named Tallulah. Jamie’s ex is currently in prison for arms dealing and being a radical racist involving hate crimes. Jamie had no idea who exactly she was married to. Jamie divorced her husband because he was gone for excessive amounts of time, sometimes consecutive months. Jamie meets Trunk through her boss Tallulah who is Trunk’s sister. Trunk is not big on social skills and has a hard time expressing himself through conversation. Trunk and Jamie are attracted to each other from the start. Trunk is a member of the MC club ‘Arrow’s Edge’. He is also a licensed psychologist who counsels high risk youths. His MC club works hard to be a positive force in the community helping out where needed. When violent things begin to happen to the MC club property and Jamie is sent questionable packages, Trunk becomes even more involved with Jamie and her family. The romance between Jamie and Trunk is a slow burn until it blazes. I enjoyed all the action, mystery, intrigue, twists and romance this book offered. Once I started reading, I had a hard time putting this book down. This was my first book by Freya Barker and I plan on reading many more stories by this author.
