Previously introduced to Yuma in Edge of Reason, he doesn’t paint the best picture. But Freya gives him his time to shine & shine he most certainly does.
Yuma and Lissie meet, and at first impression neither are taken with the other. But very soon, their paths keep crossing and a chance meeting gives them both a very common ground. Discovering each other’s darkness gives a platform for their attraction to bloom.
The story lines continues with the usual Freya Barker touch, great story line, intrigue, twists and turns, emotions when you least expect them.
A great instalment of what is rapidly becoming my very favourite series.
Another great story! Yuma and Lissie seem an unlikely pair from the outside. They both have some similar struggles that they are dealing with. Yuma and Lissie are also not that likeable at times, in other books. It was great to see things from their point of views, and you could feel their sadness and strength come through the story. A kind of friends to lovers story with lots of drama and intrigue. Beautiful, hard fought story to their HEA.
Okay so let’s be honest for a moment. Assuming you read the previous stories, do you think you will like Yuma??? I didn’t think I would. I thought he would be an okay hero/love interest. Nothing special. Then I remembered that he went to rehab and I wondered if Freya would be able to make him shine.
She did it!
I am happy to report I ended up loving Yuma! Very much! And his pops. A man who seemed like a grump until you get to know him and remove the clear shiny shell off of him and get to the gooey center. Ha!
Yuma and Lissie are both recovering addicts. I did not see that coming. Definitely made the story a little more interesting.
These two meet… well, you need to read this one to see what happens. It can be read on its own, but you will get more out of it if you read the whole series.
I highly recommend you one click this one! You will greatly enjoy this HEA!
What a great story. I wasn’t sure how Freya was going to make me fall in love with Yuma, he’s had a troubled past and I knew this wasn’t going to be easy. But wow, did she ever pull it off.
Lissie and Yuma were just perfect together.
I loved taking this journey with them. I loved being inside Yuma’s head and his heart. I love when characters are flawed, as most of us are, and find a way to muster up their inner strength and face their demons within.
Lissie was a complex character in her own right and together these two had a beautiful journey together.
This book had everything you would expect from Freya Barker. You don’t need to have read Edge of Reason in order to follow this story but I do highly recommend it.
Yes, I love it when a character who has not always been a favorite gets a chance to redeem themselves and that is exactly what happens with Yuma, in this book. We get to experience a whole new man, but I truly think that he has always been there on the inside, he just needed to push the dark away and let his spirit shine. Watching this big strong man get emotional and feel, make you feel those emotions right along with him.
Lissie has always pushed herself as she works so hard to prove to her family of cops that she has all the capabilities that they have, even though she is a woman. She has pushed herself again and moved to a new town for a fresh start. It’s not easy being the newbie on the force, with no friends or family near for support, but that doesn’t stop this strong independent woman. We learn early on that she is kind and caring, looking out for others and a great addition to the team.
Ms Barker reminds us that life often has it’s own plans for us. These characters are not and ideal match for many looking in from the sidelines. But as we get to know them better and understand where they have been, the darkness that haunts them when they are all alone, and what they never knew they wanted out of life, they might just be the best possible match. Will they take the time to take off the glasses and see the person in front of them? Could they have found their partner to fight the darkness?
I love that with each book in the series, we meet new characters that we want to see more of, we get to touch base with some favorite characters we haven’t seen in a while, and difficult life issues are met head on with by strong mature characters.

This series just keeps getting better and better with each new story! I wasn’t sure how I’d like this couple going in but they’re perfect for each other! Lissie was such a strong character and Yuma had so much growth from the previous books. Their story really drew me in and I had to keep reading to see what happens next! I can’t wait to see what happens with Brick and Lisa..but there’s so many characters that I look forward to getting to know better. Definitely recommend this series!
Edge of Darkness is the second book in the Arrows Edge MC series written by the talented Freya Barker. If you have never read a book by Freya…shame on you!
We met Yuma (I believe) in Highway 550 (Rock Point #3) and Lissie in Edge of Reason (Arrows Edge MC #1). Their characters were in the background mostly, but you just knew there was some kind of darkness within them.
“Be careful, girl. There’s an edge of darkness on that one.”
Lissie lives in an apartment building that belongs to the MC but is managed by Yuma. While they are attracted to one another, neither one of them feels like they are in a good place.
Yuma and Lissie start their relationship off slow, but soon it is smoldering and ready to ignite. You wouldn’t think that a big bad MC guy and a police detective wouldn’t have much in common, but these two are more alike then they know.
Yet another amazing, flawless read by Freya Barker. She leaves you on the edge of your seat, begging for her to write faster She is a one-click author for me and always will be.
Lissie and Yuma each have their own kinds of demons and damage. But they call to the other. Lissie the cop wants to heal the broken but healing biker, and Yuma the biker wants to protect his tough but sweet cop who’s come to mean everything to him.
There’s suspense, there are lots of emotional ups and downs, there’s intense chemistry, all woven into an exciting, heart-tugging story that I fell in love with. Broken hero finding love is one of my favorite tropes, and no one does it quite like Freya. The Arrow’s Edge MC is one of my favorite MC series for its layered, complicated characters and emotional but not angsty relationships.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This is the story of Yuma and Lissie. If you have first book in this series then you have met Yuma. He was a side character in the first book and a young biker who enjoyed all the things that came with being a biker that young without a care in the work and then things kind of blew up on them and now we are on to Edge of Darkness. In this book he is fighting demons and has cleaned up his act but is struggling. I love a hero who isn’t perfect but has his flaws and Yuma has them in spades. But with that said Lissie has not had a easy life either and carries things around with her too. This is their journey and while I think they are perfect together they didn’t think so at times and this is were the goodness of the story comes in. No one writes flawed stories like Freya Barker. This is a great addition to the Arrow’s Edge Series and I can not wait for more of these characters that are stealing my heart.
Freya Barker delivers another incredible tale of romantic suspense from her Arrows Edge MC series that will blow you away. I was immediately drawn in to Yuma and Lissie’s story and literally did not come up for air until I was finished. These two characters, who are both fighting addictions, come together in an unconventional way but somehow manage to build a strong relationship. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of bumps along the way, especially Yuma’s extreme bullheadedness but their story will leave your heart full and your inner adrenaline junkie satisfied. In true Freya Barker fashion, all the characters in this book have soul and the relationships between them are what great books are made of. A stellar read with twists and turns that landed this book in my “Read Again” collection.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is not a quick, light read; it makes you think, it makes you hurt, and it ultimately leaves you wanting more of the Arrow’s Edge MC. We’ve had glimpses of Yuma in previous books, but he really comes into his own here, and Lissie, who seems so opposite to him in all ways, is actually perfect. The start of the book where we meet Lissie is one of my favorite parts; she comes to life immediately and I just wanted her to find her HEA. It’s very difficult to write about this book without including spoilers so I’m going to leave this at – I made the mistake of starting to read this just before bed. That made for a VERY late night because I couldn’t put it down. There’s a bleakness to Yuma at times, and I had to know if that would be resolved. Freya Barker’s characters are never boring, and, damaged as they are, Yuma and Lissie are two of her best.

Edge of Darkness is book 2 in the Arrow’s Edge series. Yuma and Lissie’s story is not pretty, they both are trying to overcome addiction and both have ghosts in their past that they are trying to sort out. Will they be able to overcome their demons. The underlying story line in this book carry’s on from the first book and give you another piece of the puzzle. Looking forward to the next book
Oh wow. I loved this book from beginning to end. What an amazing book. I couldn’t put it down once started.
Freya Barker did amazing job on this book.
I loved Yuma and Lissie together, they have something special. They help bring light to each others darkness.
I can’t wait to see what comes next for this mc.
We were briefly introduced to Lissie and Yuma in Ms. Barker’s previous book and let me just say first impressions are about to get flipped. You have 2 people who have taken themselves and begun to forge a hard path towards a righteous future and they happen to converge. Lissie so straightforward and strong meets Yuma who’s working towards redemption. Apart they are dynamic but together they are beautiful. A mystery involving Lissie’s past and Yuma finding his place within the MC make this story combustible. When you get to context of why the book’s titled this way it will make you sigh. The Arrow’s Edge world that Freya Barker built has you diving in and never wanting to come up for air. One of my favorite reads, I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t want to! I received an ARC for my honest review.
Edge of darkness, is the second in the Arrow’s Edge series and follows Lissie, a new police officer in Durango and Yuma from Arrow’s Edge MC. The 2 have more in common than people think, battling their own demons. Another great read from Freya Barker.
Getting clean and sober and continuing to move ahead with your life isn’t as simple as putting down a bottle. Self flagellation is an easy hobby and as addictive as any drug or sex.
Moving ahead with your life and learning to live with or live past why you got numb, that’s a lot harder.
Yuma and Lissie are both alcoholics in recovery. Realizing that, and discovering what to do with the rest of their lives, is a lot.
Lissie settling in at her job with the local PD leads her to connections with her past and new possibilities for their future
Intense action adventure and romance

4.25 stars–EDGE OF DARKNESS is the second instalment in Freya Barker’s contemporary, adult ARROW’S EDGE MC erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the members of the Arrow’s Edge MC. This is forty-year old, MC member James ‘Yuma’ Wells, and thirty-seven year old, detective Elizabeth ‘Lissie’ Bucco’s story line. EDGE OF DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion where Yuma’s story begins.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Yuma and Lissie) EDGE OF DARKNESS follows the building relationship between forty-year old, MC member James ‘Yuma’ Wells, and thirty-seven year old, detective Elizabeth ‘Lissie’ Bucco. Elizabeth Bucco is the newest member of the Durango.New Mexico Police Department but she is no newbie to the world of law enforcement but finds herself struggling with her place in the world when she was forced to resign from her last department. A new apartment with a landlord that draws her like a moth to a flame, Lissie jumps head first when several bodies are discovered buried at a local construction site. James Wells aka Yuma battles between head and heart knowing his new tenant is with the local police but our hero knows the Arrow’s Edge MC is more about looking after the most vulnerable than trampling on the wrong side of the law but Lissie’s latest assignment comes full circle affecting the Arrow’s Edge MC, and in this Yuma is about to discover he lost his heart to woman caught in the middle of the battle. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Yuma and Lissie, and the potential fall-out as secrets, loss, and a mutual struggle threaten their tentative hold on love.
James Wells aka Yuma is a recovering alcoholic and his day to day struggle is a battle between right and wrong but meeting his new tenant at the local AA meeting gives them both something in common, a commonality of which James was hoping to forget. Lissie Bucco’s latest assignment brings her face to face with the reality of life and death, but death has always forced Lissie to look away until a discovery brings the reality to her front door.
The relationship between James and Lissie is one of immediate attraction; a palpable sexual attraction wherein James is hoping to become a better man but the loss of someone close sends James spiralling pushing our heroine away at a time when he needs her the most. James is broken and damaged forty year old man, who is about to fall in love with a woman he believes he does not deserve. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large colorful and energetic cast of secondary and supporting characters including Trunk Rae & Jaimie (Edge of Reason #1), Ouray and Luna, and their son Ahiga, MC members Wapi, Kaga, Tse; Yuma’s father Nosh; Lisa, and her foster kids Ezrah and Kiara; as well as several detectives and law enforcement at the DPD.
EDGE OF DARKNESS is a story of family and friendships; of betrayal and vengeance; of life, loss, relationships and love. The premise is engaging, gritty and real; the romance is seductive and emotional; the characters are captivating, sensitive and edgy. EDGE OF DARKNESS is a passionate and intense story.
I love the MC series! This series has everything. Inked, built, honest, loving, gorgeous “bad” boys with a heart of gold. Strong-willed, feisty, independent, smart and beautiful females. What’s not to like, or love. I’ve gotten to know quite a few of the members of Arrows Edge MC, and I’m so hopeful there’s more to come. I can never get enough of this series. Perfect SOA fix.

Edge of Darkness is the second title in the Arrows Edge MC series. I’ve been eager for Yuma’s story, after being introduced to his character in Hwy 550 and then seeing more of him in Edge of Reason.
Yuma and Lissie’s story is an intense and emotional story with damaged characters.
Lissie and Yuma have a lot more in common than you would expect for a member of the Arrows Edge MC and a detective of the Durango PD.
Lissie is strong and resilient, yet sweet, kind, caring and compassionate.
Yuma enjoyed the lifestyle being a member of the Arrows Edge MC provided, until tragedy struck. His struggle to cope with his new normality is realistic and believable.
If you enjoy a story full of drama, danger, intrigue, suspense and steam look no further than Edge of Darkness.
I look forward to seeing more of the Arrows Edge MC series, with future additions to this series.
Good easy read centred around Lizzie (a detective) and Yuma (a hot biker). The chemistry between them was definately hot and the book concentrates on their developing relatationship. Unfortunately the back story of bodies being found on common ground and bringing them together does not come into the book until quite late and to me was incidental to main story line of Lizzie and Yuma’s relationship. None the less I did enjoy it.
