I love this series and we have met both of the main characters in both this series and other series by this talented author (her series overlap as they are all set in the one town) While each book can be read as a stand alone do yourself a favour and read all of them and I mean all her series set in this wonderful world
Yuma is a member of the Arrow’s Edge MC the son of the founding member but he is also an alcoholic who has coasted through life and never stepped up to the plate but with the injury to his mother and getting shot himself he has decided he needs help and his brothers have stepped up for him He is recently returned from a treatment centre and now he has to face real life with his problems Meanwhile he has also met Lizzie a local police officer who he is attracted to She has her own problems not least of all is the attitude of her family and their failure to back her up when she was accosted by a fellow police officer and family friend. Can these two damaged souls actually find redemption with one another and in the process find the support and love that they both need You will have to read to see.
This is an incredible read that has an amazing and exciting. Yuma and Lissie both have their demons are likable and developed characters. Together they have amazing chemistry. I could not put this book down!
I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.
“Because you could be my next addiction, Lissie.”
I love this story! The author does a fantastic job creating a captivating story with layered plots. While the suspenseful mystery plays out, the love of Yuma and Lissie builds. But neither path is smooth or easy. Freya Barker is the master at creating suspenseful stories that keep you guessing and on edge until the end, and this book proves her talent. The story of Yuma and Lissie is a perfect pairing for this story line. They are two damaged, hard as nails people who are perfect for each other. However, being recovering alcoholics and having personal issues they’ll need to learn to stand on their own two feet first. And most importantly, learn to trust that they can do that before they can give into the romance of each other.
“I need to learn to stop myself from letting that darkness pull me under, without you there shinning your light to guide the way. I have to find my own strength.”
That’s going to be a difficult challenge, especially when life doesn’t stop until you’re ready. As with every good book, problems keep surfacing that throw these two for a loop, including their own inner demons.
“The man is so gorgeous it should be illegal, and with his rugged looks and those tattoos giving him an aura of danger, he made my bad boy fantasy come true.”
“But to have you dismiss what’s happening between us as fantasy, when it’s the most agonizingly beautiful reality I’ve ever known, is inexcusable.”
“Truth is, I was scared-am scared- of this feeling, I can’t breathe when I am not with you.”
Swoon!! They say all the right things to get your heart pumping for sure. And the steam they generate is HOT. But these two won’t find peace easily, their issues run too deep.
It’s a great story. I love the characters AND the supporting characters within the world the author creates! Especially enjoyed visiting characters known from previous books. Another great addition to the Arrow’s Edge MC series
I read and ARC of this book. My fair and honest review is voluntary.

Yuma & Lissie were great and the struggles they faced are all too real. Yuma sure came into his own in this one and I have to say I like this version of him.
As the body count rises and the investigation heats up we learn some powerful people are behind the ANL. We also get to see the love grow between this amazing couple.
We’ve become acquainted with both of these characters, Yuma and Lissie, in previous books but they didn’t do much to endear themselves to our hearts. Yet, you always wondered why they acted the way they did. In this book, Freya Barker explained to us why they were who they were and made us fall in love with them. And she never just skims over the explanation – Freya tells the whole story.
Freya Barker is a magician with her words. She can take characters that you don’t really care for and make them into characters you would sell your soul to make sure they have a happily ever after. Wonderful new book by an excellent wordsmith.
I loved this book! Yuma and Lissie are at the top of my favorite couple list. I really enjoyed this book and getting to know these two characters better! I can’t wait for more!
Broken. Demons. Heat. Drama. Words that describe Yuma and Lissie. I love these two together, the MC bad boy and the cop. You get all the drama, angst and steamy moments with a beautiful HEA. 5 read!
We Met Detective Lissie Bucco and Yuma in previous books 2 very different people who felt the attraction of each other from a distance unknown to each other they have one thing in common neither one feels good enough and have found solace at the bottom of a bottle until a recent event in their lives makes them both take stock of their addiction, Yuma is trying to deal with his Momma’s rapidly progressing dementia and Lissie trying to find out what has happened to her long time best friend Dani after a chance encounter at an AA meeting they discover each others addiction which brings them closer together , and while working on a murder investigation Lissie and her colleagues find more links to the ANL and their ties to the MC club in Moab who were responsible for shooting Momma , as with all of Freya’s of books each series you cannot help getting immersed in to the story from the start with cross overs from other books that when you reach the end you are left impatient for the next one

Amazing job Freya, thanks for sharing this treasure with us.
Yuma and Lissie are just so…real. They have had real disappointment in their life, and have complicated family dynamics. Meeting each other at the wrong time? Or the perfect time? The suspense written into this story is well crafted and makes a page turner for more than just the chemistry between the main characters. Yuma is part of an MC, but this book is more about the loyalty and brotherhood of the characters than the MC’ itself. You just can’t help but root for these two to get their happy ever after. And most of all I love dedicated alpha male characters…which describes Yuma perfectly. Perfect read!
Be careful girl. There is an edge of darkness on that one.”
Lissie and Yuma were perfection. They have a lot in common – recovering alcoholics and they have a lot that is different she’s a detective and he’s a MC member. But holy cow do they make it work.
Once again Freya Barker has writen such a wonderful story full of emotion, mystery and murder.
Yuma…. a man who has spend a good time of his life dunk, an achholic, he got help and is now back home trying to cope, and he cant but help want LIzzie , she is it for him.
Lizzie…..just wants to be accepted for who she is , but she has also come to this town not just for the job but for another reason…..Her friend has disappeared, she fears that something has happened to her..
Honestly you really dont want to miss reading this wonderful story, it certainly is a must read and so enjoyable to read..
5 wonderful stars and a recommation to all those… a must one click…
Another great book by Freya. She writes amazing books every time. Ive only read 5 of her books now but they are all absolutely amazing. And i love getting to see previous main characters and how life has progressed since their story. I think I love Yuma and lissie the most, just with their growth and everything. Trunk was my favorite before this book but now im not so sure anymore lol.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who are Yuma and Lissie? What are each of their lives like? What do each of them do for a living? Oh, as I saw who some of the other players were, I could not stop the grin that hit my face! Oh lord, Yuma responding to Lissie with, “He doesn’t eat.” had me giggling so much! Holy smokes!!! Things really come to a head with the Mesa Red MC, Bones, the boys from the ANL training location, and more in this story. So many questions are answered! This was a book that I could not put down once I picked it up!

4.5***** stars. Lissie moves away from her home after a serious incident turns into a good ole boy joke. Her father and brothers raised her after their mother died. They are a bit dysfunctional and mean when they belittle her and tear down her self-confidence as a detective. Her biker neighbor Yuma, runs the building for his MC and is seriously attracted to her. They both have alcohol issues and become very supportive of each other. Their lives overlap when she is searching for her missing girlfriend who was with a biker. This can be read as a stand-alone even though it brings some characters and plot from previous books. I have read so many books in between, I don’t recall much more than the storyline. It is interesting how their backgrounds start to unravel and taking some walls down. Yuma is very protective of her when a brother and her father make surprise visits. See where their growth takes you along the webs of secrets! Great book to read and no dragging
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
Yuma and Lissie
She’s a cop. He’s her landlord—and belongs to the MC in town. No way should they even consider each other in any personal way. But…chemistry doesn’t listen to what should be, just what is. Being hot for each other is what it is.
Not only do they live near each other, they both care about the single grandmother raising her two grandkids who also lives in one of the apartments. The neighbor works for the MC.
Watching these two opposites find each other is a fun run. There is plenty of steam, the danger for her as well as the people she is supposed to protect. Will Yuma be able to protect her? Will she let him try? It is a fine line for the two of them and lots of times they don’t think they will make it.
I fell hard for the couple and love the series and visiting with some of the other people from previous stories. Cop story lovers, MC fans, romance fans, all will want this one.

Edge of Darkness is the perfect combination of fantastic writing, memorable characters that you will fall
In love with, and a storyline filled with intrigue and suspense that will keep you completely engaged from beginning to the end.
Yuma and Lissie are each the light to each other’s darkness. They both have come into this relationship a bit broken and struggling with their own demons. They have found strength and support in each other and in the end they are lucky enough to find love. Unfortunately, there are quite a few obstacles and bad guys they need to face in order to come out of the dark side and into the light!
Edge of Darkness by Freya Barker
Arrow’s Edge MC #2
Two people that should have nothing in common find out that they are meant to be together in this second book of the Arrow’s Edge MC series.
Lissie is a career policewoman with generations of cops in her family. She has always felt she needs to prove she is as good as the men in her family and eventually has moved away from them for a number or very good reasons. Moving into the apartments Yuma manages puts them in close proximity. Yuma is a man who has grown up in Arrow’s Edge MC. It is his birthright, all he knows and he has truly enjoyed the life until one day he realized that he needed to make some changes. Getting sober allowed him to see his life more clearly and perhaps also allowed him to see just how great Lissie actually is. They are definitely attracted to one another but have reasons they believe they should stay apart…at least for a while. They don’t have an easy time of it but do eventually get their HEA.
What I liked:
* Lissie: strong, smart, loving and a whole lot more than just a cop
* Yuma: a man that grew on me and was perfect for Lissie
* That the relationship between Lissie and Yuma seemed “real” and believable and that there was trust and respect and communication between them
* The side story of Dani and the mystery surrounding her disappearance
* The family aspect of the MC
* The murder mystery element of the story
* The supporting characters
* Lisa and her grandchildren
* Nosh: a curmudgeon and not the most open loving father to Yuma but it seems he really cared about his son and also had a good heart
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* The bad guys – and there were more than a few
* The idea that people could be so callous in raising children (ANL group)
* Having to say goodbye to the characters and the wait for the next book to read
Did I like this book? Definitely
Would I read more in this series? Without a doubt
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Great read!
This story was the perfect blend of romance and murder mystery.
Edgy, complex, and simply delicious. This steamy romance combined the outlaw Arrow’s Edge MC world with law enforcement to solve some grewsome murders.
This is Yuma and Lissie’s story.
We’ve met Yuma before and while this book can be read as a standalone, there are interconnecting characters and themes from prior books that knowing the back story lends to the understanding of this story.
He’s a hot broody tatted biker, she’s an up and coming detective new in town.
Yuma and Lissie’s story was truly another treat for the senses. This author always masterfully creates extraordinary characters out of ordinary folks.
Smart, mature and well paced, Yuma and Lissie share more than their instant attraction to one another. Both have tons of baggage and past demons haunting them. Despite the instant attraction they learn they share a common bond that could either make or brake them. The author creates a complex and complicated dynamic between them that took the story to a whole new level and made it really unique. A sensitive subject was portrayed realistically and with a lot of heart and integrity.
Exciting and suspenseful how the whole story evolved and developed made this read a must!
The ending for me felt a little rushed but that was because I didn’t want their story to end!
4.5 stars!
I CANNOT believe that Ms. Barker made me fall head-over-heels in love with Yuma! I didn’t think I would like him, let alone LOVE him, but I should have known better….this IS Freya Barker we’re talking about here! The little we know about Yuma prior to this book left me feeling a little antagonistic towards him, maybe even a little disgusted. After the first couple of chapters of Edge of Darkness, I started to think that maybe I was wrong. Long before the end of this book, I KNEW it…Yuma and Lissie are my new fave Freya Barker couple!
You would think that a MC lifer with a TON of baggage (Yuma) who has grown up in the Arrow’s Edge MC and taken full advantage of all that could possibly come with that lifestyle to the extreme and a cop who also has a TON of baggage (Lissie) who has spent her entire career having to prove herself as a capable member of the force to not only her father and brothers (who also are cops….and NOT very likable!) but to HERSELF as well, would not be a “match made in heaven”. I know I thought the same thing and knowing what I knew about Yuma’s life prior to getting into rehab I figured they would just be too different to ever end up where they did! But, little by little, with every new facet of both these complicated characters revealed, I slowly came to realize that just under the surface, Yuma and Lissie are simply PERFECT for each other!
With Ms. Barkers’ trademark style this suspenseful, UNPUTDOWNABLE MUST READ has made it right up to the top of my list of fave reads! Do yourself a favour and pick up this book (or ANY of Freya Barker’s books)….you will NOT be disappointed!
