From New York Times Bestselling author of Ugly and Mistrust.
At seven I was adopted by the most loving parents in the world.
In this perfect family, I also found my best friend, and sister Tina.
Throw into the mix my boyfriend Dylan, and my dog Zhen, life was good… until it wasn’t.
A catastrophic incident unearthed echoes of my past.
It left me no choice but to confront my inner demons.
Will I … demons.
Will I be able to live through this again?

Margaret McHeyzer is incredible, her writing style and storylines go deep, they will rip your heart in two whilst encouraging you to carry on and follow through the darkness into the light.
Echoes of you is simply Brilliant!
This is not an easy book to read, you will cry
You will hate but you will also embrace and love Molly and her family.
Molly is one of the strongest people you will know, her life seems picture perfect, a loving wealthy family, her sister who is also her best friend and Dylan, the boyfriend who loves her unconditionally until sadly an event sends her back to something so tragic – this is where the family and every single part of her needs to pull together.
Books like this remind me why I love reading so much
This was a mind blowing story. At first I was completely confused yet intrigued and it only got better. Once everything is out the way it is all handled the support and the love she received not only from her family but from Dylan (I want someone like him in my corner). With moments to laugh at loud and drop some tears this author takes you on an emotional ride which touches on some sensitive areas all done well. Her story can’t hep but touch you and draw you in whether in sympathy or just to see what happens next.
5+ MASIVE STARS
MUST READ!!
Top 2020 read
I hated this book.
These are the reasons I hated it with so much gusto and passion.
I hated how I lost sleep because I wanted to keep reading.
I hated how this author dragged every single emotion from me. Making me cry, making me cry with laughter, then making me awe, swoon and cry again.
I hated how this book has so many layers that it kept me thinking about it for days after I finished it.
I hated how I could barely function because all I could think about is the depth and complexity of each character.
I hated the fact it ended, because I want to be emerged in the lives of these characters for a long time to come.
But mostly, I hate how I didn’t hate it at all. I loved this book. To me, this is the best book I’ve read of 2020, and I think everyone has to read it.
5 Echo Filled Stars!!!
I’m bowing down to Margaret McHeyzer again!! Whenever I finish a book by her I’m blown away all over again. Whenever I finish a book by her I say it’s my new favorite book by her and then she releases another book and I’m saying it all over again lol. Echoes of You was no different then all her other books.
I can sit here and write a nice lengthy review and you’ll know everything. But, I’d hate to give everything away. I was on a crazy ride of emotions from the first sentence to the last.
The prologue made my heart break. Then part one started and my heart was pounding bc you’re introduced to three characters that all have a role to play and that role made my stomach turn upside down and inside out every page.
At part two we met Molly. She was adopted at seven years old to two amazing loving parents. Her sister Tina was adopted as well and they’re the same age and share the same birthday. They’ve been best friends and sisters since the day they brought Molly home. Their family was extremely close and none of them ever thought that would change. But, they always say never say never.
The girls are graduating high school and turning 18. Tina starts dating a guy and when Molly meets Dylan, Tina pushes for a double date. When Molly meets Tina’s boyfriend instantly the hairs on her arms raise. Molly doesn’t get a good vibe of him but Tina won’t hear about it.
Dylan is a little older then Molly but he’s legit an amazing guy!!! Talk about the perfect guy.
I kept waiting for Dylan to pull the rug out from below me bc nobody is that amazing.
When tragedy hits Molly’s family it hit not only rained but poured. Bc, Molly’s demons decided that moment to return to the surface and blindside everybody close to her.
At the end of the day the people closest to her will standby her side but the one person that can help Molly get past what she’s going thru is Molly herself.
I read this book so quick I’m not sure I remember breathing when I read it. That’s how good it was. I hardly looked up from my kindle.
This book definitely can trigger some people if you have triggers. There’s both physical abuse and mental health issues that Molly and her family have to deal with.
Margaret writes stories that are 110% real life for a lot of people in the world today. And, story after story that Margaret publishes she writes them all beautifully. Even though some or multiple parts of a book might be hard to read but believe me Margaret has 1000% done her research for every single subject that she puts down on paper. Echoes of You was no different. I’m really, really looking forward to her next release.
Phenomenal story!
This original, emotional and totally absorbing story was one of those reads that once you start you just can’t put it down!
I was dragged down a rabbit hole full of suspenseful, unexpected twists and surprises.
This complex story came to life as it unfolded and I loved it.
A delicate subject was treated intelligently and with integrity.
Other reviewers remarked that this is a story to go in blindly and I couldn’t agree more. I’d just like to add to go in with an open mind.
Powerful Coming of Age Story

What’s this book about? (I’m trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
After a rough past, she seemingly has it all. Her family, her best friend who is also her sister, her new boyfriend and her animals make her life a happy one. Until one event changes everything. Until she is confronted with the demons of her past.
This is my first Margaret McHeyzer read and it was a powerful one. It was emotionally loaded, that’s for sure. I was intrigued when I read the blurb. This is described as a NA/Dark College Romance, but it’s not the usual. I’d actually describe it as a mystery and thriller, too. The drama was ever-present. What a tumultuous book! It was definitely dark and to me it felt like a coming of age story. This was a fast-paced and emotional read. There were moments that were so heart-breaking, I can’t even deal. The lead showed a lot of strength and audacity to stand for what she deemed was right. At the same time, she was very defensive about her age, being an 18-year-old and all, so that’s why I see this as a coming of age rather than a New Adult (I see these two as different categories). I loved her despite her easily offended nature and I truly rooted for her. When we initially meet Dylan, I didn’t like him very much. He seemed pretentious and there was something about him that made me feel like he was super secretive. However, over the duration of the novel, he grew on me.
The final half of the book was by far my favorite.
I recommend this to readers who want to read about a tortured lead with a mysterious past, a loving family, and a dramatic plot that keeps you on your toes.
A moving tale 0f a girl who screamed long time ago in torture but is still suffering the echoes of it’s memories till now. Molly Dawson is a sensitive and sensible girl, living in a loving home with lovely family. Her sister Tina is her best friend. Life is full of banter, laughter and boy gossip. A typical teenage life……
Until a discolored bunny visits her and she is terrorized.
“From the moment I can remember, all I’ve ever been is nothing. Nothing at all. Not a person, not a child, not a God damned thing.”
I don’t know how to describe you this story without giving anything away, so just jump in blind and just let this incredible book envelope you.
Margaret is quite practiced at penning stories that deal with twists and traumas of the mind. They make you think, question the reality and shed light on social & moral evils.
This story takes you a step further into the recesses and layers of the scarred psyche.
“It wasn’t your fault.”
“What if…”
“Nope. Stop right there. There’s no other version of that statement. It was not your fault.”
“But…”
“No.” She shuts me down again. “It was not your fault.”
I had a lump in my throat reading it. Molly was MY friend, and seeing her happy with Dylan made ME happy. But when she shed tears, it pained MY heart. This connection with characters is an achievement on Margaret’s part as an “alive” writer. Pain jumped from the pages and bled through my veins.
This story shall remain with me for a long time to come as I’m sure it will with you when you read it
4.5 stars Impossible Is Nothing
Sit down, relax, this story is long and deserves, no commands your total, utmost attention.
Life was picture perfect for Molly until one day her world tilted on its axis and her past came rushing forward and a family’s strength shone through.
This story will make you cry, laugh and see that there are still some good people in the world. Sure in true McHeyzer style the subject matter and challenging scenes will test you as the background to this story rings true.
Thank you Margaret for a beautiful story even though the subject matter is heartbreaking.
Margaret’s books have been on my TBR for some time but this is my first book by her and quite frankly I’m stunned. With a new author it always takes me awhile to get used to their writing style but this book was easy to read however the subject matter isn’t infact at times it was too much and I needed a break.
The main character is Molly and she is fascinating. Molly has a good life with her adopted family who love her unconditionally and when she meets Dylan it seems like life couldn’t get any better. All it takes is one memory for her life to shatter. I wouldn’t call it a twist but the story goes in a direction I never saw coming but one that was written superbly. The love and support of her family and Dylan is the one thing that will give her the courage she will need.
This book is unlike any other one I’ve read and I commend the author for tackling this subject with compassion and understanding.
This was the first time I’ve ever read a story by this author and I was not disappointed. This book was extremely emotional and it just wrapped you in wanting to find out what’s next. Molly was amazing and Dylan was the most perfect boyfriend ever. When things went south she tried pushing him away but he was not having it. He stayed with her and held her hand the entire time. This is a book that I went in blind not knowing what to expect and I loved it. It’s one of those books that you’re glad you don’t read spoilers and get surprised with.
Echoes of You, like nearly all Margaret McHeyzer books, is a difficult read. But that does not by any means make it less of a book. It is dark and emotional and highlights just how important having the right people in your life can be. Take a chance on this book. You will not be disappointed. 5 Emotion Filled Stars!
Echoes of You is Margaret McHeyzer’s newest emotionally raw standalone. I don’t even need to read the synopsis to know that I will be needing tissues and lots of snacks since I won’t be wanting to get off the couch. Once again, I was right. I read most of the book in one day and it’s not an easy or short read. I really can’t say much without spoiling the story so I will try to make it fast.
She was adopted at the age of seven and that was when she met her best friend and sister, Tina. They grew up in a loving household full of love, laughter, and a special bond. They even share a birthday and just turned eighteen. Family is everything. They even found men who could be the love of their lives. It was perfect until everything changed and now she is confused about everything from her past to her present. It was time for her to fight the demons of her past. Ones she didn’t even realize were there…
This story is not easy. This is not your typical romance. You will swoon but you will also be heartbroken. You will fall but you will also cry. It’s an unique type of love story. It’s not only about a couple. It’s about a family who needs to heal. I love that Margaret writes stories that need to be told. They make you think about the world around you. They make you want to help in ways you never thought of before.
Overall…its a beautifully written story that I will never forget. I cried. I laughed. I swooned. I got angry. I cried again. The characters are remarkably strong, beautiful, and sweet. Once I really started I didn’t want to put the book down. I had to know what was going to happen next with this family.
Quotes:
“There’s too much red around me.”
“We each have a role to play.”
“Pinky promise it is.” He holds his pinky out.
“You know, you can’t break a pinky promise.”
“I have no intention of foolishly violating something so sacred,” he teases.
Echoes of You – Margaret McHeyzer
I always struggle to write a review after reading a Margaret McHeyzer book…… mainly because she completely shatters me…… but in the best of ways.
Every emotion is dragged out of me, and every tissue in the house is used and discarded…. leaving me to ponder just how to put into words the depths of emotions felt about her latest book.
Echoes of You is, without a doubt, Margaret at her utmost best.
I willingly entered into reading Echoes of You, knowing what was coming…. knowing I would be emotionally drained but still needing to read all the words.
I can’t compose words to recommend this book more to any reader who wants to fall down the rabbit hole of a book that will absorb you and completely own your emotions.
No spoilers here as you can see because, you deserve to read this wonderful book with a clear mind and an open heart.
Love love loved Echoes of You. Thank you Margaret McHeyzer.
