For Etienne and me, our love has always left a trace. It reigns over kingdoms, and rules over time. With Etienne now in the present day, the echoes of time grow louder. We must face the answers we seek to set things right. However, we must be incredibly careful. One false move and everything we love will be destroyed. And this time, could be the end of our surviving trace. Echoes of Time is the … trace.
Echoes of Time is the epic finale in The Surviving Time Series.

Time was never on Serene and Étienne Lacroix’s side. As they learned in the present of what happened to all the things they loved in the past, they must discover what caused the ripple in time and fix it before it’s lost forever.
What I loved the most about this book was Étienne’s new experiences. It was amusing seeing him navigating the places and the culture. After the last book, I’m glad my thoughts on Serene back to how it was before.
I enjoyed the overall storyline and the plot was entertaining and easy to follow. Though, I wish it could match the intensity and novelty of book 1.
Echoes of Time is the conclusion of Surviving Time trilogy. It would appeal to readers who want to get lost in an opulent time traveling romance.
Man, there were so many times I had to stop myself from skipping to the end just to see if my favorite couples got their happy ending.
I was so anxious during the last 30% of the book.
Echoes of Time is the conclusion of Etienne and Serene’s love through time, and it was not an easy ride.
I gotta say though, watching Etienne struggle with the present time was HILARIOUS at times.
The mystery that Calia Read delivers is always on point for me. She kept me guessing the entire book. And if it wasn’t one thing, it was another.
Everything had questions, and eventually all those questions were answered. AND THEY WERE SUCH GOOD ANSWERS
I absolutely adored Etienne and Serene relationship in this book. The love and understanding this couple has for one another is so special that you sometimes just can’t help but be a little jelly, or maybe wanting to replace one with the reader, lol, definitely not the blinding headache and nausea from Time Traveling though. That they can keep.
I also just couldn’t forget the side characters, even if they weren’t able to interact much with the main Hh’s, they each still left their own stamp in this last book.
So much so, that I’ll now be begging for a book for each of the remaining Lacroix siblings.
I DEMAND IT!
I wanna talk about about this book, but it’s always harder to when it’s the ending of a trilogy. Anything said is a spoiler, so I’ll just say GO READ THIS AMAZING TIME TRAVELING, HISTORICAL WITH A TWIST OF MODERN ROMANCE TRILOGY!
What a journey! Echoes of Time is the 3rd book of Surviving Trace series. Calia Read has written a series of a unique, capturing, branding love. In book three we leave off we’re book 2 ends. So, right from the start we get that connection of Etienne and Serene. They have some huge life challenges ahead of them and Calia writes Etienne and Serene ready and up for those challenges. Calia doesn’t hold back with the secondary characters in this series. They are all involved in this timeless tale. I just loved how they all connect. I have said this before and I’ll say it again this series should be a Masterpiece Theater series. Im looking forward to other books connected to this series. Bravo Calia!
“Surviving trace. Our love holds time together.”-Etienne Lacroix
“I lost my heart but found my soul in you. This was all worth it. My surviving trace.” OMG….this book is just beyond anything you can imagine! Etinne and Serene finally found their happy ending with a journey that had me on the edge of my seat. As Calia so elegantly writes they didn’t make it this far in their journey for it to stop now. Their love defies time and distance and their fight to stay together has been a journey that captured my interest from the first word. EoT picks up right where the second book leaves off and continues to prove the amazing depth and talent of it’s author. I loved that the epilogue tied some things together unexpectedly and brought Liz and Will back into play. So many traces of intertwining instances between the past and the present.
A bittersweet ending but I’m not ready to let go of these amazing characters! I’m hoping we get Livingston’s story next!
Well the ending is here.. I am not ready to part… Etienne and Serena journey had continues with new challenges.. I wasnt expecting for the element of surprises. The story were a calculation of time where I cant pintpoint what will happen next. Serene and Etienne definetely had my heart echoed! This romance was timeless and the answer for everything..
I have drawned into time-travel romance.. ‘Echoes of Time’ was like a game of chess. Each movement will effect one way past and present. The love between Etienne and Serene were so deep, the leap of faith that was taken..
This book goes along way to keep me enchanted. It was fresh. I am Crazy crazyyyyy in love with Etienne and the way he professed his love with Serene. No amount of time can seperate them. This will go down to be one of my all time best read..
Echoes of Time resonate with intensity
Thoughts, countless emotions, nostalgia and endless love. I’m still reeling after two days of having finished reading this third book of The Surviving Time trilogy.
I continue to mull over so many parts of this story almost to the point of obsession! I absolutely loved it! I’m now left with bittersweet feelings and anticipation for more from Calia Read!
I took my time savoring every word, re-reading sections or lines at times, putting my kindle down and walking away wanting to prolong the inevitable approach of the conclusion at others. Their story was coming to a phenomenal and epic end but I could only imagine how it could continue! The expertly developed and compelling characters of Etienne and Serene are forever in my heart!
Calia Read chronicles their adventures in such a unique and enthralling way that I felt as if I was right there experiencing events with them and immersed in their lives. She adeptly and intricately weaves events and describes their challenges in a way that I visualized the scenes vividly. Her depictions and imagery are etched in my mind’s eye.
I sincerely hope that this is not the end as I have become immersed in the story of Belgrave and want to continue this magical journey through time with all of these captivating characters. This is truly one of my favorite trilogies of all time!
How can a couple combat against time and its fleeting presence?
How can a timeless love transcend years and decades, leaving the slightest of traces even when the lovers are apart?
How do soulmates from different eras, living much different lives, remain together when it’s clear that time isn’t and has never been on their side?
Throughout Calia Read’s Surviving Time series, readers have traveled back in time with Serene witnessing her attempts to acclimate to her ‘new’ existence, to learn the culture, the language, and the dynamics that she had been thrust into, and we’ve also journeyed forward to present day and the deep sense of loss Serene felt at returning home and leaving Étienne, the other half of her heart, behind, desperately doing all she can to get back to him by any means necessary. And, as in most time travel story lines, Read has expertly shown that actions have consequences and the ones made in desperation can cause a ripple effect that redefines the parameters of the lives of so many people.
With all of the twists and turns that occurred in The Reigning and the Rule, I truly didn’t know what to anticipate in Echoes of Time, but the title alone indicated that
Serene and Étienne’s biggest adversary, Time, would make things even more difficult for the couple who refuses to lose each other and who would willingly sacrifice everything for love.
Serene and Étienne’s past, present, and future are so tightly intertwined that there’s no doubt that Fate wants them to be together, but fate is fickle, at times, and time has its own agenda, making it impossible for these two to combat everything they need to without altering things in the process.
With Étienne now in the present with Serene, a new set of complications and troubles arise, and it remains unclear exactly what they’ll have to fight through in order to remain together. It’s interesting to see the modern world through Étienne’s eyes and his struggles to grasp the new technology as well as present day amenities that he has not clue how to use. Ultimately, though, their biggest concern is not Étienne fitting into contemporary society, but what will be altered due to their need to be together at all costs.
Because Echoes of Time is the conclusion of Serene and Étienne’s timeless love story, I knew that my reading journey would be filled with a multitude of complications and conflicts, but, in the end, I trusted that Calia Read would bring everything full circle for her characters and her readers, and I can wholeheartedly say that she did justice to a love that survives time and distance.
4.5 Poison Apples
I liked seeing Selene and Étienne together. The twists and turns kept you engaged in the story. I think the back characters really helped out. The first part was a little slower, but it brought the anticipation to the others part and what was going to happen. I really liked the Epilogue and seeing how everything changed and came together at the same time.
Echoes of Time was bittersweet for me. I loved the conclusion to Etienne and Serene’s story, it kept me glued to the pages anticipating what would come next. While I found it a fitting end I still want more. I’m not ready to let go of these characters (both main and secondary) or this world just yet. There are too many things I still need and want to know. I’m hoping the author writes stories for Etienne’s and Serene’s siblings. I recommend this series to those who love epic stories about love that stands the test of time.

“Je t’aime tellement que je passerais l’éternité à essayer de te trouver, juste pour passer un moment avec toi.”-Etienne
(I love you so much, that I would spend eternity trying to find you. Just to have a moment with you.)
I have so many emotions coursing through me now that I have finished this book. Back when I started this series in November of 2018, I had NO IDEA the journey it would take me on. The love I would have for these characters and their story. This is by far the BEST time travel romance EVER! Etienne and Serene’s love is timeless and proves to be able to withstand the test of time. And it’s not just Etienne and Serene that I love. I LOVE Livingston, Natalie and A too and I can NOT wait for all of there books to come!!
This series will stay with me until the end of my time. I will recommend it to EVERYONE that will listen. The writing is beyond genius. The way in which Calia had to write the storyline to fit the ever changing plot was pure PERFECTION! (Because when you mess with time, you ultimately alter history, right???). I once again found myself taking notes upon notes while reading this book. There is just so many details that are important and then there are minor things that made me go, hmm, will I need to remember that???, so I wrote that down too LOL. I’ve learned from the previous books, that ANY LITTLE THING could be important and needed “farther down the road”.
My mind was blown with the twists and revelation that happened towards the end of the book. I just kept thinking while reading “how is this all going to play out?” and then everything just fell into place flawlessly! I am utterly floored how every piece of the storyline ended up working out. Kudos to Calia and her brilliant brain because I couldn’t of thought up and executed all of this. The only thing I had hoped for was for this novel to match the intensity that the other books did in this series. This one was more “mellow” in nature, with most of it’s angst to happen towards the end of the book when everything fell into place. Also, I was anticipating the whole time travel aspect to be a HUGE reveal in this final installment, but there really wasn’t one. I can’t give more details without spoiling so that’s all I will say. But even with these “issues” I had, I still very much enjoyed Etienne and Serene’s story. I was overjoyed to read their HEA!
“I lost my heart but found my soul in you. This was all worth it. My surviving trace.”
“My surviving trace.” I whisper back.
If you have not started this series, NOW IS THE TIME! You will not have to suffer through the pain I endured when I had to wait months in between each release to get more of their story and their breathtaking world. ECHOES OF TIME is the conclusion of Surviving Time trilogy, but Calia plans to write spinoff books for secondary characters from this series.
4 stars
Oh wow! A great finale for this series!
Following the ending of book two where Etienne is the one doing the time travel to the future, Calia treat us with funny time when Etienne have to adjust to the modern life of today.
But the mystery still there. They both still playing detective for the past that has altered from their actions.
Loving the swoony moments of Etienne and Serene. And the steamy sceneslet’s not forget about the steamy scenes!
Kinda Thorn about this ending. Would love to see more of these two but then again Calia give the perfect ending for them, I won’t want it any other way. Etienne and Serena story would be missed, definitly.
When I first finished The Reigning and The Rule, I had my theories of how Étienne and Serene’s story would conclude. While I was correct on a few things, my thoughts and vision paled miserably in comparison to the amazing conclusion of their story.
I wanted to read as fast as I possibly could but I also didn’t want it to end so I tried to go slow and savor every single word.
The tears. Oh so many tears that I cried. Some things had me so happy I cried, laughing so hard that I cried, or from sadness.
But this line made me cry the hardest and I had to put my kindle down for a while (and even typing this has me in tears again):
“Je t’aime tellement que je passerais l’éternité à essayer de te trouver, juste pour passer un moment avec toi.” (I love you so much that I would spend eternity trying to find you, just to have a moment with you.)
If that is not the definition of soulmates and everlasting love, I don’t know what is.
Calia Read has made me fall so very hard for these characters that I want to read every little detail. Like seriously, I would read all the minute details of their day in and day out just to spend more time with them.
This book will definitely be in my top reads of 2019 and this series is now my favorite of all time. I hope Belgrave keeps calling to Calia because I would love so much more from this phenomenal world.
I have been waiting for this book for what seems like a lifetime. Etienne and Serene’s story is consuming throughout time. This one was the culmination of all of the questions they had over the time they would travel between the present and past.
I have just loved these books hard and all good ones must come to an end but this one will be timeless for me. These to who pretty much fell into each others lives learned to live in their situations but also searched for the meaning of why they time traveled.
Calia has written a beautiful story that spanned the years they lived in and how they came to have a deep love for eachother that could not be broken even when seperated. I am soo in love with this story I know it will be a definate re-read in the future when time permits.
This is the ending that brings us answers of the surrounding mystery that were left in the last book. I couldn’t believe it, it was unpredictable. Etienne and Serene’s story is very beautiful and I highly recommend this series.
I can’t wait to see what the Belgrave Dynasty series bring and I really wonder who is it going to be about, even though I might have an idea. What I like about this series, is that its not technical with the whole time travel thing. Just read it and enjoy it.
Echoes of Time was absolute perfection!
When a book has prose like this you know it is going to be special:
“Je t’aime tellement que je passerais l’éternité à essayer de te trouver, juste pour passer un moment avec toi.”
It was everything I wanted in the final book of this trilogy and so much more!
This book gave me everything: angst, happiness, sadness, romance, suspense… I could go on for days. And this is all before the final chapters and the epilogue. WHICH. WERE. PHENOMENAL.
I could not ask for more, and if I did it would only be because I wanted this book and series to never end.
I have a strong love of history so I thoroughly enjoyed the time travel aspect of this series, but this book also gave me a new appreciation for southern living in the early 1900s. I cannot wait to visit plantations in South Carolina and pretend I am Serene as I walk through them!
There aren’t many series that I continue to think about long after I have read them. The Surviving Time series has definitely been added to that list.
I am so very sad to have Serene and Étienne’s story end but I am so happy and excited for what’s up next in the Belgrave Dynasty!
So Happy and sad at the same time. I am so sad that this is over. This story and these characters are everything. Way back when (book 1) my friend says, ” You have to read this book”. Thanks, but no thanks. I don’t do unrealistic! My friend once again book bullied me into reading, and I am so happy she did. I was hooked from the beginning. I can’t even begin to explain the heart palpitations and anger and sadness and fury I had while reading this series. This author did an exceptional job of putting the reader in this story and making us feel all of it. I can’t wait for the other characters books; she’s built a lot of curiosity around them and I’ll hopefully see glimpse of my favorite couple in them.
**sigh**
Etienne.
Serene.
Livingston.
Nat.
I can’t say enough about this series by Calia Read. I can admit, I was hesitant to begin it (many moons ago), because historical fiction is NOT my thing. Needless to say, I was hooked from the first chapter of book 1. The way that Ms. Read describes the details of the architecture, the personalities of the characters, and even the landscape, is breathtaking. I can absolutely “see” everything she writes and I feel a connection with each and every character…even when I want to strangle them.
Echoes of Time perfectly wraps up all the loose ends of this story. The trials and tribulations, the unanswered questions, the “huhs?” and all those mysterious thoughts of “are they” or “aren’t they” are all resolved perfectly. There are honestly no questions I have that weren’t answered and I absolutely felt as if there was closure in all aspects of this multifaceted story.
Yet again, I have no negative comments about Ms. Read’s writing. To read her books is to read a work of art. Truly.
Oh man. I was scared about where this story was going to go when it came to S & E. From the first two books we see a crazy lobe story that throws every notion I had out the window but the author the author made this book….. it was everything I hoped it would be. The ups and downs, past and present (in a way), all the characters. It was just a really awesome book. I was on the edge of my seat trying to not devour every single page. I want to go into so much detail. I want to talk about everyone and everything that happened, BUT I can’t. So I’ll settle with saying that the author did not disappoint. She made me love these characters in book one, but that love was cemented in Echos Of Time. That ending…. it shocked me and I had a huge smile on my face. I can’t wait to see what’s to come from this author. I’ve heard there will be a spin off to this series and I will say I never want it to end. 5 stars #2OCCJD
