Lord John Stanford, Marquess of Greyhedge, leads a life too lively by society’s standards. When he finds himself in a situation from which he is unable to disentangle himself, he runs to the home of his cousin, Laurence Redbrook, Duke of Ludlow, to seek refuge. When Laurence asks him to entertain his sister-in-law, Hannah, he readily agrees if it means he may earn his cousin’s good favor.
From Astley’s Circus to fine balls, the season is far grander than Hannah would have ever expected, made more enjoyable in the company of John. Not only is the man handsome, but like her, he enjoys reading, poetry, and the theater. As new feelings arise, Hannah wishes to embrace them, but she worries that John may be hiding something from her. Although John’s fondness for Hannah began as a ruse, he finds that his newfound feelings for her are true and vows to change his ways.
However, as the two journey through the London season together, it may not be only John’s past that returns to haunt them. For a secret deep within the walls of Scarlett Hall threatens to rise that will not only ruin Hannah, but her entire family, as well.
Echoes of the Heart is the second book in the Secrets of Scarlett Hall series. It can be read as a stand-alone novel but is best enjoyed after reading book one Whispers of Light. Filled with romance, adventure, and a dash of mystery, Echoes of the Heart promises to be a page-turner.

Was ok. Just seemed like a lot of drama over and over again. His character changed and grew, she didn’t not really. They got a HEA, but what is going on with Juliet?
A writer and a Rake.
I want to recommend this book from the start of my review this gem was wonderful. Scarlett Hall has history and when you have an estate as old as the one in the story there is bound to be secrets. Hannah, Eleanor, John, Isabel, and Laurence were interesting characters. This well-written and intriguing piece had all the excitement a reader would want from a book. I love the ending I want to know about Juliet. I cannot wait for the next book! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A brilliant second instalment to the series!
The second book in the Secrets of Scarlett Hall series, I want to read the next book as this one leaves you wondering about Juliet. I enjoyed reading Miss Hannah Lambert and Lord John Stanford, Marquess of Greyhedge’s story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Miss Hannah Lambert has no wish to be loved or courted, to the point of faking illness to avoid her debut. Now she will go to any lengths to remain at Scarlett Hall and continue with her writing.
Eleanor Lambert had a nightmare about Hannah, her middle daughter, being in trouble. It was so upsetting that she got up to check on her two daughters, the third having married and moved out of Scarlett Hall. The youngest was snoring gently; Hannah was rolled in a ball on her bed. As Eleanor approached to take the blanket from her face, she saw rolled up clothing and not her daughter. Forbes found a horse missing from the stable, so it was obvious she had sneaked away – and not for the first time. She had found a writers group who meet each week, and she joined them. The unmarried man who hosted them, 40-year-old Mr. Albert Moore, took her aside, said she was a better writer than the rest but not to tell them he said that, and invited her to come alone and meet with him for a surprise. She risked ruining her reputation and, if something bad happened, no one knew where she was going! At his home, he told her to sit on the couch and gave her a glass of wine. He held her hand, which made her uncomfortable, but his words were kind so she didn’t pull away. He told her to close her eyes, told her she could have a man who would let her write, and he kissed her! When she shoved him away, he was angry. He was a poor man who raised sheep, was not of her social standing, and would not be acceptable to her family. He offered his heart – but she knew she did not love him and had vowed to never marry without love.
Her mother met her as she came in the door and told her she would be going to London in a few days, hopefully find a man and marry. Her excursions to the writers meeting were over. She told her mother the truth of where she was in the hope she could stay home but her mother insisted. She poured out hateful words that hurt her mother, but she would be going to London for her own good.
Lord John Stanford, Marquess of Greyhedge, leads a life much like a rake and gets in too many situations by society’s standards. When one such a situation is beyond his control, he runs to the home of his second cousin, Laurence Redbrook, Duke of Ludlow, to lie low for a time. Laurence asks him as a favor to entertain his sister-in-law, Hannah, and he readily agrees. Hannah finds he likes books, poetry, and the theater, which piques her interest. As both of them spend time together, they enjoy each other’s company and feelings begin to grow. John’s past may be a threat to them, but Scarlett Hall hides a secret that could destroy Hannah and her entire family! Will they be able to survive? Or will their happiness come crashing down in horror?
This is a very well-written and intriguing book, the story line containing just enough mystery to keep the excitement up for the reader. The characters are well-portrayed, the emotions easy to feel in the excellent writing the author delivers. Grab your copy and see what awaits them!
