They may not be made for each other, but animal instincts are impossible to ignore.Madisyn Drake is a rare breed of cat shifter…a loner, unpredictably wild, and emotionally distant. A recent betrayal has left her ready to sharpen her claws on the next man she sees…until a prowling wolf with steel-gray eyes and a brooding dark edge challenges her distrust. No matter how fully he satisfies her … satisfies her touch-hunger, Madisyn’s not ready to open up again, even if it is oh so gratifying.
Bracken Slater has earned his reputation as an indomitable predator. Once broken by grief and guilt, he is feeling alive again, thanks to the heady scent of this independent feline. Madisyn isn’t interested in joining an unfamiliar pack, so convincing her that they’re meant for each other is going to take more than branding her beautiful neck. But when threats from both their pasts take shape, their unexpected destiny may be the only thing that can save them.

When I saw there was a new Mercury Pack series I got seriously giddy! Suzanne Wright delivers simply brilliant Shifter PNR tales that draw me in, keep me hooked and make me addicted to her characters.
She gives us sexy, hot AF, dominating Alpha Males that make me giddy, and sexy, sassy hot AF women that keep these strong shifter males on their toes.
I have been intrigued about Bracken since we found out in the last book, Lure of Oblivion, what happened to his family, oh how my heart break for him. I couldn’t imagine the pain he felt. I was so happy he got to meet his mate. His sassy feline brought him back from barely surviving to living again.
I NEVER want this series to end
Suzanne Wright is one of those authors that are an automatic one click buy for me whether it’s a book from one of her paranormal series or one of her contemporary works. I don’t need to read the blurb to know I’m going to love whatever she’s given us and, with a great plot and strong characters, Echoes of Fire was no exception.
Bracken is both feared and respected in equal measure both by the shifter and human communities. After the lose of his entire family at the hands of extremists during an attack where only he survived, he carries a burden of guilt and feels undeserving of any happiness. Madisyn, a loner by nature, is a Pallas cat shifter. A rare breed that is basically insane and doesn’t think twice of taking on three bear shifters who think she’s easy prey. Despite knowing each other for several years Bracken and Madisyn are completely unaware that they are mates until Bracken is hurt and close proximity means the bond is triggered but both are willing to take things slowly and let the bond develop naturally. Although saying that, the sexual chemistry between them is scorching & nearly sets the sheets on fire. I loved the character of Madisyn. Pallas cats might just be my new favourite form of shifter. She was such a crazy badass. She reminded me of Taryn from Feral Sins, both with their total disregard for their own safety and habit of attacking first. I loved the exchanges between her and Bracken. She gave as good as she got and pushed him past his grief and judging from what she talks about in her sleep her dreams are just as exciting as her life.
One of the best things about Suzanne Wright’s books is that she manages to bring in old characters without their appearances seeming forced or about of place. I loved catching up with old friends and seeing how their lives are going and no book would be complete without Dominic and his one liners. I can’t wait to read his story. Revenge will definitely be sweet for both the Phoenix and Mercury packs when he finally meets his match. I can’t wait to see what Suzanne has in store for us next.
The fourth book in the Mercury Pack series is a thrilling read that draws readers in and refuses to let go. Madisyn and Bracken are strong, bold characters that really stand out and grab attention and the chemistry that burns between is electrical. The relationship between is rocky from start to finish and quite entertaining as they struggle through it. Readers can’t help but get caught up in all the upheaval that occurs emotionally between Madisyn and Bracken as readers can easily understand their motivations which it makes it difficult to open their hearts. The couple exchange some witty dialogue, some feisty debates, some sweet heart moments and lots of sizzling attraction and red hot passion during their journey to reach their happily ever after.
But the tangled emotions of this relationship is not the only thing that makes it interesting, threats from their past add thrilling danger, intriguing suspense and adrenaline pumping excitement. The plot is fast paced and flows smoothly which along with the author’s ability to bring stories to vivid life, makes it easy for readers to become so caught up in the story that they lose track of time. The character interactions of this series and The Phoenix Pack series are one of family, loyalty, understanding and the struggle to survive and fit in which makes it easy for readers to connect with the them and also invites readers into their lives, so readers really can’t get enough of this fascinating world.
I loved everything about this book! As always, Suzanne kept me on my toes and feeling all the feels. I listened to the audiobook version and the narrator was fantastic!
The love Madison and Bracken had was not fast and hard, but slow. The kind that seeped into every part of them. And where there is a happy couple, there always seems to be a jealous b**ch in the wings waiting and plotting to tear them apart. In the end, everyone gets their just desserts.
Let me start this review by stating that I am a die hard Suzanne Wright fangirl. She is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors. She always gives me what I want in a book. Now that being said I wasn’t super excited about Bracken’s book. I didn’t dislike Bracken or anything he just didn’t stand out to me in previous books. So going into this read, being a Suzanne Wright book I figured I would like it, but didn’t plan on loving it. OMG I Freaking loved it. Bracken blew me away. Who knew Bracken would be a yummy, sexy talking, panty melting beast?
Bracken Slater totally wowed me. He was super sexy, protective, a little damaged and at times dark, but still sweet. He also kicked major ass all over this book. Losing his whole family has changed him forever. I love that he not only fought his demons, but that he was open and honest about them to Madisyn. He had me madly in love with him 2 chapters in. Madisyn was perfect for Bracken. I love how Suzanne Wright takes these animals I know little to nothing about makes them her shifters. She shines a light on these unique and endearing animals and writes some of the cutest, kick ass, shifters I have ever read. Madisyn was no exception. She was a Pallas Cat, which I had never heard of till this book. A number of Youtube videos later and I’m in love with the cute little pallas cat. I love how Madisyn was strong but didn’t stomp all over Bracken’s fears or let him rule her. God but I loved her sass. And to say she kicked ass would be an understatement. She was amazing heroine. I think I have a bit of a girl crush.
Bracken and Madisyn were burning up my kindle. They had a smokin’ hot connection and like I said up top Bracken was a beast. Smexy time had me feeling hot flashes. I enjoyed the plot very much, and I always love getting to read about my favorite couples from past books. This book had me cracking up from the start to finish. I mean cackling like a mad woman. I loved this book, I love this series, I love all of Suzanne Wright’s other series and I just love Suzanne Wright. If you have never read any of her books you should give it a try!
I love this series! Suzanne Wright writes the best characters! They are so funny and so vulnerable at the same time. I have wanted to know Madisyn’s story since we first met her. And I had to look up the kind of cat she was (I won’t say in case you haven’t read the book) but I hadn’t heard of the type she is and it’s so cute! I love that she’s just a bit crazy. Bracken was an ok MC. I understand his issues. and I LOVED how alpha/protective he is. I really don’t know why I didn’t fall all over him. He is basically the perfect caveman shifter, that I love but he just did nothing for me. I loved him and Madisyn together. They fit perfectly and helped each other with their problems.
I will always read everything suzanne writes. Her characters are sassy and make me laugh and I love it!
Suzanne Wright definitely puts the “A” in alphas!
I knew I would love Madisyn and Bracken’s story and I wasn’t disappointed. With their story came the expected new adversaries and the gruesome territorial fights which ran alongside their own battle of emotions as they unexpectedly find themselves as mates.
When Suzanne Wright’s leading men are not exerting their dominance to those threatening the pack they are exerting their dominance in the bedroom and that is a common theme throughout the Mercury and Phoenix pack books. Despite the abundance of alpha males, their characters are surprisingly close to one another and their family/friendship dynamic is in part what attracts me to these stories. Each duo provides another exciting dimension to what is an already hugely successful series and instead of feeling that this is just another wolf story, each book gives readers so much more.
As with all of the books in the series, the other members of each pack continue to contribute to each subsequent novel and you feel like you are once again amongst old friends when your return to one of these stories.
This book had its usual amount of emotional highs and lows but this time we were also introduced to a particularly feisty Pallas Cat thanks to Madisyn. This definitely brought a refreshing and fun aspect to the storyline.
This is definitely a recommended series for all shifter fans out there.
Anything Suzanne Wright writes is going to be on my radar to read immediately. That said, I love her Phoenix and Mercury Pack series the most. She’s created these amazing characters and world that I can’t help but get swept away in.
Madisyn and Bracken start off with a bang (almost literally). I will say I didn’t quite remember Bracken from the previous books, but he was given enough backstory that I quickly caught back up. Madisyn quickly became one of my favorite characters, and I thoroughly enjoyed the new breed of shifter thrown into the mix.
This story brings the heat, action, heartfelt moments, and one kick butt leading lady. Love Bracken and Madisyn.
The last thing I will say is that I’m desperate for Dominic’s book. I’ve been dying for it since the beginning and this build-up…LAWD *fans self*.
Madisyn and Bracken have known each other for quite some time. They find each other to be quite annoying. Until the touch-hunger becomes too much for Madisyn and Bracken is there to witness her pain. When one thing leads to another, ending with an unconscious Bracken, suddenly they realize they are fated mates. Simple, right? Except Madisyn is questioning Brackens desire to mate with her just as I was. How could a couple who are fated to be together not recognize it for years and then suddenly, bam.
When Madisyn agrees to give Bracken and their relationship a chance, they actually end up working out quite well. Thoughts and feelings from the past are brought into the light and the lack of recognition is soon understood. Not sure if I completely bought the whole set up, but I’m a lenient reader and accepted it for what it was and moved on. In doing so, I found this to be another great story to add to the other books in this series.
Bracken is another wonderful alpha hero and I loved his need to protect what is his. Add in his own struggles from the past and I was a goner for him. Madisyn is a feisty, tough, independent heroine who prefers to be alone. Watching her change into a character that accepted the presence of the pack warmed me. After all, in my opinion, friends and family are everything.
This definitely had some intense action scenes along with a steam factor that was beyond sizzling. When this couple get together things are HOT. My Kindle may not ever recover.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGall
Full disclosure, I freaking love Suzanne Wright books. In fact, I don’t think I’ve given less than a 4-star rating for any book in her Phoenix Pack, Mercury Pack, or the Dark In You series. They are hot, sexy, action-packed, and full of all kinds of interesting characters. Yes, the pack series do have some of the same plot points from book to book, but seriously, I don’t give a flying rat’s patootie. Not one. As for the Dark in You Series—Knox is my hands down favorite PNR hero of all time. And anyone who knows me knows I read one hell of a lot of PNR. So, it’s a big deal when I say Bracken gave Knox a run for his money. Holy shamoly, he just absolutely did it for me. (Now don’t fret, Knox. You’re still the one, but it was close).
“If you ever so much as bother Madisyn again, I won’t just destroy you, I’ll wipe out your entire clan. It’ll be as if you never existed.”
Now, this wasn’t all fun and games. Poor Bracken has been through the wringer. We found out in Wild Hunger (Phoenix Pack #7) that Bracken lost his entire family in a horrid attack that almost got him too. He is no longer our happy go lucky Bracken with a great sense of humor. He is dark, broody, and brings new meaning to the word alphahole. He wasn’t a slouch before, but now he is one walking, talking, stone-freaking-cold badass. And did I mention sexy? Hoo-boy. Keep your significant other handy, you’re going to need him.
“It was an atomic explosion of raw need that made her body flare to life, like she’d been plugged into a power source.”
I’ve liked Madisyn since we met her in Mackenna and Ryan’s book, Savage Urges (Phoenix Pack #5). When I found out what kind of cat she was, I had to google it. Actually, her cat is even more badass than Harley’s which is saying something. She has a heart of gold but she is so far from a pushover it’s hilarious. So yeah, I adored her.
Even though Bracken and Madisyn are true mates, this was no insta-love romance and they didn’t immediately succumb to the pull. Both had too much water under their bridges to have a clear connection. Add in all the threats swirling around them and this ended up being a nailbiter of a story in more ways than one.
Echoes of Fire felt just a shade darker than what I’m used to for this series, and I loved every bit of it. Dark, sexy, full of action and with some fun woven in, I loved everything about Echoes of Fire and can’t wait to see what Ms. Wright has in store for us next.
Spice’s Rating: 5 Walking, Talking, Stone-Cold Badass Stars
4-4.25 stars. This book was another great addition to my fave shifter series! Echoes of Fire was Madisyn and Bracken’s story. Madisyn is a lone pallas cat shifter who is friends with the Mercury pack wolves and works at the shifter shelter. Bracken is a wolf shifter and enforcer for the Mercury pack. He lost his parents, siblings and baby nephew in a recent attack by the anti-shifter extremist group and has been struggling to recover emotionally. He and Madisyn have been acquaintances but something happens between them that brings to light that they are true mates. The two of them like each other but take it slowly getting to know each other and fully forming a bond. In the meantime, Madisyn faces a threat from a bear shifter clan who wants her to tell them where she has helped hide a bear shifter from the shelter. They go to vast lengths to hurt her, Bracken and the Mercury pack. But Madisyn is no pushover and won’t go down without a big fight, and Bracken will do anything to keep his mate safe. The two make a powerful team and they come out on top in love and war.
I loved Madisyn and Bracken. Madisyn was such a scrappy little fighter. She rarely showed fear or backed down from a challenge. Bracken adored his mate and was so protective of her, especially after losing his family. They were a really great match and I very much enjoyed their relationship progression. The writing was good and the story was interesting. Also, this book was very action packed. There were lots of fights and battles.
Overall, this was a great, fast paced book. Madisyn and Bracken were funny, sweet and sexy together. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more from Ms. Wright and the Mercury pack series!
I was so excited when I saw this book available on Netgalley. I requested it and anxiously waited almost a month to see if I would be approved. I was approved yesterday and finished it last night! This was such an awesome book!!! Bracken and Madisyn’s journey to their HEA had some bumps along the way, but once they passed them, it was epic. The last we heard of Bracken was when we read about the tremendous losses he faced and this has affected him deeply. So much that his pack have been concerned for him and he has been slowly isolating himself, but things start to change when an incident involving Madisyn comes into play. When their connection is realized, Bracken starts to feel alive again and the pursuit is on. Madisyn does not make things easy for him. She is a rare feline breed, a pallas cat, and they are naturally a loner and very antisocial, but on top of that she also had trust issues. She soon realizes what Bracken means to her, but still does not trust it. But as time went on the pull towards each other got stronger. They both gave each other peace and a sense of belonging. And the chemistry was smoking hot!! All of Suzanne Wright’s previous books had characters with amazing chemistry, but I thought this one was the hottest. This book also had me smiling and laughing so much. Their were so many sweet moments between Madisyn and Bracken, especially while Madisyn was in her feline form. That cat was awesome!! I had never heard of the Pallas cat so like many people will, I googled it. They look so cute and cuddly, but when you read this book, you will find how looks can be very deceiving. She was grouchy, fierce, a bit crazy and just a bada$$! There were also so many laugh out loud moments as well, the banter between these two was hilarious and so so cute. I loved it all!
And like in all of the books in the Mercury Pack and Phoenix Pack series, there is always an epic battle, and like in the others this one was just as brutal and cringe-worthy, but you can always trust things will work out.
I loved this book so much, I can not wait for the next installment.
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake Publishing for the complimentary copy of Echoes of Fire. All opinions are my own.
4.5 “Can I get my own alpha wolf now?” Stars
I have no words.
No words to describe how much I enjoy these wolves’ stories and how they keep surprising me in their awesomeness. I mean, this is the 11th book between the Phoenix and Mercury packs. Before I started, I told myself to lower my expectations because there’s just nothing new that could happen. No way Bracken could be as alpha or Madisyn as weird and kick-ass without them being a lesser copy of the shifters that came before them.
But you know what? I shouldn’t have bothered, cause Ms. Wright once again blew me away with Echoes of Fire.
Still, this is a shifter romance so there’s mating and bonding. There’s action, fights, battles, and intrigue. There’s lots of really hot sex and the-by-now-expected butt-sex-epilogue. Ms. Wright just has a way of writing that gets me totally engrossed in the story, completely connected to the characters.
Bracken was utter perfection. After the tragedy he barely survived, he was left more aloof, detached and menacing than ever. Watching him come alive again for Madisyn was spectacular. He was alpha as expected, but his protectiveness and possessiveness went seriously over the top and that was just the cherry on top of all his bossy yumminess.
Madisyn was the shit. We knew she was slightly on the other side of crazy from the previous books, but man! She was epically kick-ass. Fierce, loyal and with a devil-may-care attitude she was everything I was expecting and exactly what Bracken needed.
“Someone ate a full bowl of Bitch Flakes this morning.”
“Dude, I ate two.”
Their chemistry was obviously ridiculously hot and their animal side interactions adorable. I really liked how she made Bracken handle their connection and how they were open about facing their issues.
Echoes of Fire had everything I needed, wanted or could even dream of, I loved it from start to finish and I want these series to go on forever. That said, I really wish we’d gotten the chance to see Madisyn exacting revenge on the whole Lucah cat-fish issue, there is just no way this feline would let it go without some inventive payback.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
Madisyn is a feline shifter and a loner. She helps at the shelter for shifters and a bar. She just ended an on line relationship because he kept making excuses not to meet her. Now she is suffering from touch hunger, it’s where a shifter of her kind needs touch or the are in horrible pain. Bracken is a loner too but is part of the Mercury Pack. He’s known Madisyn for awhile but she really never got past his guard until her touch hunger. Which he helps to relieve and then can’t get enough of her. She gets into a brawl with some female bears and Bracken takes her home. Well the girls return and hit Bracken and that’s when the mating bond starts. Madisyn doesn’t want to join a pack because she likes being by herself. But the more time they spend the stronger the bond gets and neither can deny they are true mates. They must face enemies and their past to get the mating bond to completely snap in place.
This probably doesn’t make a lot of sense but I didn’t want to give anything away. You’ll need a cold shower after this book, it will melt your e-reader. Jealousy, painful pasts, shifters, funny, and action. I love Ms. Wright’s books and always look forward to reading her paranormal series. I’m still waiting on Dominic’s book. But if you love steamy paranormal books this is for you.

5 Grr, Mine Grr, Talking in your sleep, Fantastic, Beautiful stars*****
I Love, Love, Love, FREAKING LOVE, this author. I just can’t say that enough! I don’t believe that she can write anything bad. I have loved and read all of her series of books and they are just magnificent!
This is Bracken and Madisyn’s story and I loved Bracken so freaking much in this one! After suffering and still recovering from the loss of his family, he finds his true mate! Yay! Madisyn was awesome and kick-ass as usual, loved her animal!
The witty comebacks, the strong but tender males and the action, oh my, do I love the way she has the characters acting out in their true nature and killing off the bad guys. Love It!…Can I just say that the kids were the best? Especially the dialogue between Cassidy and Willow, Lol. Please give us more of Kye, Cassidy, Willow and Sienna. They are just the best!!! Again there’s a scene with Cain and Cassidy which has me wondering about those two, but we will see what Ms. Wright plans for their future. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Wright’s stories and I cannot wait for her next book.
Bracken Slater, wolf shifter and enforcer within the Mercury pack. Bracken hasn’t been the same since the anti-shifter extremists gunned down his family at the drive-in. He has made a name for himself when he went after every extremist involved and took out his revenge.
Madisyn Drake, pallas cat shifter with no pack, works at the lone shifter shelter. Madisyn helps hide lone shifters into a new home when needed. When the alpha from a bear clan sent people to find out where she hid a bear shifter named Daisy that he meant to kidnap into his clan, Madisyn’s life is threatened when she refuses to give up Daisy’s location.
Bracken and Madisyn have known each other for a few years. While they are both attracted to each other, nothing has ever come of the attraction until Madisyn was threatened and Bracken’s wolf urges him to protect.
I like how the author brought us a mate story where the couple didn’t fight the pull and yet still gave us a slow burn love. Bracken knows he’s still messed up over his family. Madisyn’s shifter nature has a natural independence and struggles with trust. Due to this, Bracken knows he must move slowly but that doesn’t stop him from staking his claim immediately.
This book provided a lot I love and enjoy in my books. The protective and possessive alpha, the independent and sassy heroine, and side characters that add to the overall storyline. I’m enjoying this series and look forward to the next couple.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review
Let me first start by saying that I love, LOVE this paranormal series so I was really looking forward to the new book ‘Echoes of fire’. So you can imagine my pleasure when I got the chance to read it before release.
Bracken Slater is one of the enforcers of the Mercury Pack and a character we already met many times before in the previous books. In those books he’s the layback guy, someone who likes to have fun and who is an easy character to be with. So I was very surprise when I started the story and I discovered a totally different man in it. I can understand (after reading what happened to him) why he would be a different man then before but I had a little trouble connecting with this ‘new’ version of Bracken.
I did love Madisyn and I especially loved her cat! It was a new cat species to me. (I looked it up on the internet. I would recommend that you do that too! It’s totally worth it.) The interaction between the other members of the pack (and the Phoenix pack) were again great to watch. I really love the friendship, loyalty and love that they have for each other. The connection between the pack members is one of the things that I like very much in this series. (And the craziness of some members too.)
Again the writer Suzanne Wright wrote a good story, one filled with humor, emotions and steamy sex scenes. But in contrast with the previous books where I was intrigued and excited when I was reading them, here those feelings were less present. During the most part of the story I was wondering, what if Bracken hadn’t had this happen to him, what if he was still the guy like before? Would Madisyn and he have been together? It had me thinking about the true mates bond and wondering if it’s possible that the mates aren’t always compatible?
‘Echoes of fire’ is a good story. I just wasn’t prepared for this ‘new version’ of Bracken in this story and I missed the ‘old’ Bracken a bit.
I love this world. Suzanne always amazes me with the different relationships and different kinds of weres she comes up with. Madisyn is awesome. I loved her. I have loved Bracken for a while, his story just made me fall deeper. These two needed the other and are the perfect match. I could not put this book down. I found myself laughing often while reading this book. There were times I felt angry and upset while reading this, but any emotions I felt, I was entirely invested in this story. This was a good read. I really enjoyed this couple. She is so fierce, him being a little broken and an alpha, but they bicker and get each other perfectly.
I cannot wait for the future books for either pack. There are a few characters I am patiently waiting for them to find their HEA too.
Suzanne Wright never disappoints! Echoes of Fire give us the hilarious yet heartbreaking story of Madisyn and Bracken. Both crushed on each other for a long time yet both ignored it for their own reasons. An encounter with some bears makes them realize who they are to each other and has Bracken doing all he can to protect Madisyn and keep from losing her too.
I knew Madisyn’s book would be a favorite, because Madisyn has given me constant hilarity through the other books. One thing I loved the most about her was her inner animal. To be so cute and innocent looking, she is one of the most feared shifter out there. Not only is she calm but vicious, she is so funny and takes no shit from anyone. She meets Bracken head on and shows him she isn’t one to be trifled with. Now I thought all these other males were possessive, they have nothing on Bracken. He’s beyond possessive and protective, but you can’t be mad. You know it comes from a place deep inside and stems from losing his family in front of his eyes. These two together are one of my favorite couples! They are perfect for each other, and heal each other.
Suzanne Wright brings her signature snarky women and hot men together beautifully. Echoes of Fire adds so much into this beautiful family that originally started with Taryn and Trey. I’m looking forward to more and can’t wait to see who is next!
I’m really in love with this author’s shifter series. They’re fun, sexy and full of mating. Very fun.
