Echoes in Death, the chilling new suspense novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.D. Robb is the perfect entry point into the compelling In Death police procedural series featuring Lieutenant Eve Dallas. As NY Lt. Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband Roarke are driving home, a young woman-dazed, naked, and bloody-suddenly stumbles out in front of their car. Roarke slams on the brakes … front of their car. Roarke slams on the brakes and Eve springs into action.
Daphne Strazza is rushed to the ER, but it’s too late for her husband Dr. Anthony Strazza. A brilliant orthopedic surgeon, he now lies dead amid the wreckage of his obsessively organized town house, his three safes opened and emptied. Daphne would be a valuable witness, but in her terror and shock the only description of the perp she can offer is repeatedly calling him “the devil..”.
While it emerges that Dr. Strazza was cold, controlling, and widely disliked, this is one case where the evidence doesn’t point to the spouse. So Eve and her team must get started on the legwork, interviewing everyone from dinner-party guests to professional colleagues to caterers, in a desperate race to answer some crucial questions:
What does the devil look like? And where will he show up next?

This sounds crazy but reading each new In Death book feels like coming home….it’s like the best comfort food, my most favorite pajamas and a totally silent house, all rolled into one. I had pretty much pegged the bad guy early on here, but that’s not the point. These characters are like family, and as long as I can visit with them, I don’t really care so much who the bad guy is. Looking forward to the family reunion when #45 comes out.
I highly recommend the In Death series by J.D. Robb. There is a murder to solve in each book along with the love story of Eve Dallas and her handsome husband. Each book is a stand alone but it’s best to start with the first book to learn the background on all the regulars. Once you start it’s hard to put down.
any one who reads this series will be completely satisfied with the twists and turns. You see a new side to Eve and Roarke’s relationship. As well as a new side of Eve on the job. It’s a twisted story of self entitlement, rape, murder and mind games, that draws the reader into the emotional roller coaster ride with the characters.
The latest (incredibly, 44th) outing for Lieutenant Eve Dallas, finds the lieutenant, her sidekick Peabody, and the amazing Rourke working on a series of escalating attacks on married couples. Finding a murdered doctor and his badly beaten wife leads Dallas to work backward, and uncover the attacks that were a lead-up to the murderous escalation, terrifying attacks that were designed as completely as a stage production. The mystery aspect was one of the better ones in the Eve-verse, and the characters continue to grow. Sadly, there wasn’t much interaction with the larger cast, and the story centered pretty tightly on Eve, Rourke and Peabody. The story does stand alone, although you will get the most out of it if you are familiar with the series. It’s an excellent book, well written and well plotted. Highly recommended.
This book was awesome. It kept me on my toes through the entire book. I was surprised by the person who was arrested. I love all of the In Death books by J. D. Robb.
I wonderful series with well developed characters. I always look forward to each new book and seeing where it will take Eve and Roarke. With over 40 books in this series I’ve yet to grow tired of it, JD Robb (Nora Roberts) knows how to put words to the page!!!
This is an OK book. It follows her usual path horrible death and crime scene . Roark gets involved the usual characters step into their roles. Basically she follows a formula to include the obligatory love scene. Her books are predictable. I only recommend this if you’re looking to read something comfortable and easy.
I Love all of JD Robbs Books and have read all 50 Books
The Dallas series is one of my favs. Roarke and Eve along with the rest of the crew are an awesome bunch of characters.
I have read and reread many of stories in this series
Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Highly recommend it.
Love this series. Good solid world-building, but maybe not all the way to great. Whole series is pretty consistent that way, and the character growth is marvelous over the arc of the series (which is only a few years in book-time, so far)
If you haven’t read this series by JD Robb you are missing out. This is Nora Roberts writing under the above author name. Eve and Roarke are a awesome duo . The stories are set in the near future about a murder cop and her cases with a large dose of quirky co workers and friends.
Echoes will truly echo when you see more than one scenario of the serial killer as his scenes escalate. Eve is impacted by the similarities to her life as she strives with her team and Roarke to catch this confident killer. Another to add to your J.D. Robb reading list.
Love Eve and Roarke.
I love this series! I’m on my 3rd time reading them.
I have read all of the JD Robb series. I love her characters and can’t wait for the next release!
Love this futuristic love story with a strong main character who overcomes past pain to win the guy and the case. Love the mystery and challenging who-done-it.
Another great book in the series. Love the strong Eve Duncan character.
Ok
What can you say bad about a JD Robb book?
