Sometimes the deepest scars are the ones that can’t be seen. Single mom Peyton Ward works three jobs to make ends meet. At Linear Tactical she’s surrounded by heroes on a regular basis…but none of them are hers. She thought she’d found one in Linear’s silent partner, and country music superstar, Cade Conner. She was wrong. Unintended wounds still cut as deep. Cade may not work day to day … deep.
Cade may not work day to day operations at Linear, but he takes the mission of the company he helped create—teaching survival intelligence and self-defense skills to the people who need them most—seriously. And finding out he’s wounded Peyton in the worst way possible weighs on him.
So when danger on two separate fronts closes in on her, he will damn well be by her side. Making sure they survive so he can right his personal wrongs.
He might not have been a Special Forces soldier, but Cade Conner knows how to fight. And Peyton is a woman worth fighting for.

I really liked this book but from the whole series so far it’s my least favourite. I was delighted to finally meet Cade as we heard a lot about him in precedent books but it’s the first time he shows in person. He is courageous, attentive and loyal and even if he never was military he got to train with the linear guy and some since he was young so he isn’t helpless.
Peyton is courageous, we know that since first book but she stayed in the shadow and we couldn’t imagine all the difficulties she had to endure…. how she could stay as kind as she is depite all what she lived is admirable.
They both had a past together but because of some events they lost contact each believing the other one didn’t want to stay in touch and respecting that wish….a huge misunderstanding but they do need to rebuilt their trust in each other first.
Honestly ,the investigation was really well done even if i had doubt about the culprit soon , i loved to see how it went. the romance was well balanced with the suspense simply i didn’t not connect with Cade and Peyton as much as i did with other couples. Can’t wait for next book now.
I’m so glad that Peyton got her own book. She’s a beautiful character with a precocious little girl who you can’t help but fall in love with. Her story is a bit tragic and sad, but Peyton is a strong young woman, a survivor who lives to make a better life for herself and her daughter.
Cade is a singer who fell for Peyton years ago, but has stayed away, giving her time to live and be the amazing woman he always knew she’d become. Little do they know how circumstances and well-meaning family betrayals have deprived them of so much time and happiness. An accidental meeting, secrets revealed, and meddling friends give these two souls a chance at their own HEA, if only they can survive the dangers surrounding them both!
There is enough romance and susoense to keep the reader engaged throughout the story, plus it is lovely to catch up with the rest of the Linear Tactical gang!
This was a good solid story with good main characters and supporting cast of people. It was interesting to see that Cade had been the behind-the-scenes money guy that helped get it up and running.
I liked that the reader got both points of view. Although in the beginning I was a little thrown when it opened up with a play by play first with one and they another play by play by the other. I generally don’t like that and was hoping that the whole book wasn’t like that. I had my fingers crossed and was relieved to find that it wasn’t all written like that.
Jess was a whip smart little girl and pretty perceptive little girl. Peyton has done a really great job raising her with most of the weight falling on her. Heck, she’s working three jobs just to give her little girl every opportunity she can.
Cade has a lot to make up for even though he didn’t know about all the secrets that have been kept from him.
There is plenty of tension that comes from the danger that is surrounding Peyton. She just doesn’t know when and where it’s going to hit.
Cade’s stalker is creepy and seems to know too much on how to strike. As it got much further into the book I had my suspicions about one particular person and a possible motive. I was right but there was even more of a twist coming concerning that.
Don’t we all want a H.E.A. in our stories? Don’t fret. This story does have one, and a very nice one at that.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
I could not wait for this book. I was not disappointed with this book, it was more then I could of expected. Great chemistry and characters, the story was written so well and it blew me away.
Spectacular suspense romance .
I absolutely love this story . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of ECHO .
This story is outstanding . It’s part of the Linear Tactical series . This story is just as wonderful as the rest in the series if not better . Peyton Wade is a woman that hasn’t had an easy life . She’s been raised in an abusive home
having to handle life for herself . Cade Conner is a big musician in Nashville ,
has a past with Payton , soon secrets and lies are revealed . Danger is headed their way . This story is full of action , suspense , intrigue absolutely Outstanding . I highly recommend taking the time to read this story .
I always had a feeling that Peyton and Cade’s story was going to be good, but wow, this book is fantastic and throw in little Jess and never knowing what is going to come out of her mouth made me laugh out loud a couple of times and had my husband staring at me. This is a phenomenal series, start at the beginning to meet all the characters, you won’t regret it
I’ve been wanting to know what the deal was with Cade and Peyton and why she hated his guts. You could just tell there was a great story behind it and I was so eager to start reading.
The reason why they lost touch was heartbreaking but as they start to repair their relationship, the love they felt for each other resurfaces and we get to see Peyton and her beautiful little girl get the HEA they deserved.
This was a great read about second chance at love or maybe better word is at life. I’ve been a HUGE fan of the series since the beginning and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

4.5 Stars
This is book 7 in the Linear Tactical series and it features Cade and Peyton. These two have loved each other since she was 18 and he was 21. That was when the magic started. Five years later, a ton of misunderstandings and deceptions and these two have some serious talking to do. They love with the innocence and deep-rooted knowledge that their love is forever, even if she has a hard time trusting that he feels the same as she does.
The suspense and action is great, if not a little predictable but the romance more than makes up for it. Jess and Ethan are, without a doubt, my favorite Linear Tactical couple and I can’t wait for the day they get their story because it will be EPIC! I’m looking forward to my next visit with this amazing group of people.
Another great book in the Linear Tactical series!
First I have to say how precious Ethan and Jess are in this book! They will totally steal your heart. Ethan’s ‘man-to-man’ talk with Cade was the best! Now, as for the story…this one is a bit different than the others in the series. It does have appearances from the LT guys and their gals and it is full of edge-of-your-seat suspense, action, some laughs, a few dangerous situations with shocking twists and turns, a shenanigan or two, and smexy time, but this one is also a second chance romance between Cade and Peyton that is oh so intense, but incredibly sweet as well. They have a complicated history with some serious misunderstandings that change the course of their futures, both positive and negative, and they have a long road to unwind mistakes and mend hurt feelings but in the end, theirs is a beautiful story of righting wrongs, fresh starts, and a true love that spans time.
This book, like the others in the series, can be read as a stand-alone; however, I think it would be much better enjoyed reading the series as a whole so you can follow along with each of the LT men as they find their women and visit with the other characters as they cross over in the other stories. All these guys are part of a team and though not blood, family by choice and actions.
ECHO has all the good stuff included in the other books in the series, but this one, to me, is more of a heartwarming read mixed with intense emotions. With it being a second chance story, the feelings are just more raw and ‘real’ since we get to know the young Peyton and Cade, their inner musings and how deeply their feelings were for each other from the start to seeing them part, grow, understand their pain and longing, and their deepest desires to be together, to be a family and have that happy ever after ending. The story is just WOW!
*I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily providing my honest review. Thank you for the wonderful read.
This book was hard to summarize as I want to relate the entire wonderful story, but I know I can’t do that…but I want to. Peyton Ward, single mother, gets her own story in this delightful and emotional series. Cade O’Conner, who Peyton has loved since high school, left Wyoming to make his mark in the music world. Prior to leaving, his father had passed away and Peyton was there for him. She had a full scholarship to a London Film Centre and would be leaving as well. When life got in the way and after almost dying at the hands of her abusive stepfather, Peyton remained in town raising her four-year old daughter, Jess (a truly adorable character). Cade returns and learns that Peyton never left and why. To try to get close to Peyton again, he hires her to film a documentary for his new single Echo. Someone had been stalking Cade before he returned to Oak Creek, but now the danger has turned towards Peyton and Jess. Will Cade and his friends at LT be able to protect them and find out why they are being targeted? This is a thrill ride from beginning to end with an amazing prologue! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Cade is a song writer/singer who left his home town to build his career. Payton was the home town girl who also had big plans for herself. But sometimes your plans do not always work out the way you want or hope for.
OMG-This is such a heartwarming story of two people who lost each other because of the people who were betraying them and trying to driving a wedge between the two. Your heart will break along with theirs for all the pain they go through. I just loved Payton. She was a very strong person that you find yourself rooting for her to get her HEA. You also hope all the misunderstandings are worked out for this couple.
Another great story in the Linear Tactical series. This is a fast paced story that will put you on an emotional roller coster. When you add in the danger element and suspence you have a story you just can’t put down. I love how Janie’s book always intrigue you from the very first chapter.
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
Echo is a great romantic suspense that keeps you guessing till the last page. I love the two main characters, Peyton and Cade who, even though their past is rocky, they handle it with maturity and grace. Plenty of action, twists and turns, and romance that keeps the pages turning. Enjoy!
OMG!! The story is so intense. The action in this story has been a little off because they had not found the guy who is trying to kill someone(can’t tell it will give the story away). But the story is so good. About two people from different sides of town. They meat at school and they fell in love. Very good story I do hope that there will be more I like the town. It is full of people who care about one another and are there when they are needed. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
this is another great story in the series if you like suspense and romance you will want to read the story. he is a singer, she is cleaning houses and Linear buildings. now someone is after her little girl can he help and can the guys figure out what is going on. I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review. looking forward to the next book
Just amazing! I couldn’t read fast enough for much of this book. Peyton and Cade were like the perfect couple. They certainly had their history and issues to deal with but with the help of friends and family, things worked out in the end. Not as expected, but close. The action certainly never slowed down and as I said there were many times I just couldn’t read fast enough to keep up with the action. I love Janie Crouch’s writing style, so easy to read, lots of action and lots of feel good moments as well. I have enjoyed all the books in the Linear Tactical series, and this one had been just as great. I’m finding it difficult to say which is my favourite now that Echo had been added to the mix. Truly an action packed great book!
This was an ARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is one of my favorite Linear Tactical books, I think, and one of the reasons for that is the way Peyton and Cade communicate with each other from the start. Even Cade’s aunt proves redeemable. Each Linear Tactical book is a standalone, but richer if you know the characters from the earlier books, and Echo features more in the adorable and heartwarming relationship between the little Jess and Ethan. There is a man-to-man talk in this book that will have you reaching for the tissues. But it’s not all romance and heart; it wouldn’t be Linear Tactical without suspense and gut-wrenching terror, and Echo has this too. Janie Crouch writes characters that pull you into their world and won’t let go, and this book is no different. It’s a heartfelt recommendation.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
I’ve been waiting to get Cade’s story since the beginning of the series because he’s so mysterious. I’m glad the wait is over and it was so worth it. I really enjoyed getting his and Peyton’s story. The emotions his letters to Peyton gave me all the feels. I just wished we got a glimpse of them.
Echo is a heartwarming addition to Janie Crouch’s Linear Tacticle series. While not jam packed with action like some of the books in this series, this one capitalizes on emotion, suspense and romance. It’s more emotional and raw. You read the history of the characters and what they felt about each other before they were separated so when they come together you totally understand what they mean to each other. I loved Peyton and Cade individually and as a couple.
Echo is a thrilling suspense read with plenty of twists and turns to keep you turning the pages.
As expected, Janie has delivered the goods with Echo, the 7th book in her Linear Tactical Series. At the start of the book, the main characters, Cade and Peyton, were separated five years earlier by a series of events they had no knowledge of or control over. The two move on, one following a dream, and the other not. As the story moves along and the characters develop, you, the reader, are pulled into the story and, through Ms Crouch’s excellent writing, experience all the emotional highs and lows of a good and suspense-filled romance. Echo checks all the blocks for a great romance, complete with humor, suspense, and a HEA. You can’t go wrong buying the latest Janie Crouch book.
P.S. After reading the epilogue, it seems that there’s another book coming in the Linear series….I can’t wait! I’m so glad to be a member of Jamie’s ARC.
I have to honestly say the Linear Tactical series is one of my favorites and I am always anxiously waiting to devour the next book. Echo definitely did not disappoint! In this 7th book, we get Peyton and Cade’s story and it is filled with so many emotions, suspense that gets your heart pumping, amazing secondary characters and a fantastic happily ever after.
Peyton was an amazing heroine, she endured so much in her life and then to see a little bit of happiness for her and then to get it taken away just broke my heart. But I was in awe of her strength to move on and do whatever she had to to give her daughter Jess the best life possible. Cade on the other hand, lived in a completely different world. He was privileged and he had an amazing career in the country music scene. Different sides of the track but they had such a deep connection. But due to interferences and misunderstandings they were separated in the harshest of ways. Now five years later, Cade is back and when the truth is revealed, he is determined to get his family back. He may not be an active member of the Linear Tactical team, but he is integral to the overall operation. He has the training and it definitely comes in handy when danger comes calling.
I not only loved the love story between Cade and Peyton, little Jess was such a scene stealer. And then the moments with her and eight-year old Ethan made my heart melt. The camaraderie and loyalty of everyone in the Linear Tactical world is top notch and it continues to show. Echo was an amazing read and I highly recommend this one and all the others in this series. 5-star read for sure!
