Easy for sure because it’s easy to fall for Tyler as he is trying to rebuild his life back home. Alicia didn’t stand a chance. Even though she promises to steer clear of him and not fall for him, the sparks are too hard to ignore. I fell in love with them. The story brings a little action as well as heat so it was easy to get sucked into it.
I loved this book! Not only did I get to catch up on some of my favorite characters from the past but it was an amazing story of love mixed with a bit of suspense! Alicia and Doobie are great together and I really enjoyed their story! You don’t need to read any other books to love this one but why deprive yourself of so many awesome stories!! I always enjoy Bethany’s work and this is no exception! I received a copy to review and would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys good writing and a happily ever after !!!
This universe just keeps getting better and better!
This story was packed with passion and suspense mixed with a bit of angst and a lot of heart!
I’ve never really been a fan of the whole stay away from so and so/off limits because whatever reason scenario. It just has never been a very realistic concept in my realm of possibility real life world so I hate to read about it. Most of the time it just reads ridiculous to me lol but not this time. This time it made sense because it was a realistic reason … of course Taylor is going to warn Alicia away from her brother since she herself has no trust in him etc etc. SO for me, the story was already #winning before it got off the ground.
I really enjoy this author’s voice and style. Every time I pick up a book by her I am fully captivated and engaged and time seems to just slip by without a notice. You can’t ask for a better reading experience!
I have not read the previous 6 stories – I didn’t even know this was a series so I felt disappointed that this was not clear until it became available. So, this is Dobbie’s story. I didn’t know who Doobie was til I read this so I missed out on his previous connections and I think that atleast those should have been included although the author states this is a standalone, however, I have since been informed he was in the author’s book 7 Months. This story is about Doobie and Alicia. Doobie is coming home after being gone for a very long time, years. He ran from heartbreak but Is finally ready to go home, but not everyone is happy about it. Alicia is loving her life in New Orleans. It’s a new start with new friends and is establishing roots. When her roommate’s brother comes home, she asks Alicia not to fall for him, so she promises but when she first meets Doobie she immediately feels a connection. As they run into each other now and again, their connection/attraction can’t be denied. She helps him settle in but being platonic isn’t easy. The story was okay but read very slow. This, couple didn’t even have a kiss till the book was almost done. A little too slow for me.

I picked this up because it sounded like a nice, cute, light little novella that I could read without investing too much attention or emotion into. I just needed a book that I could read and relax with a glass of wine and put down with a smile on my face and This worked perfectly.
Doobie was a little hard to warm up to. He had a major disappointment so he packed up and ran and left behind his family. Which I understand, what I couldn’t understand was him not calling or visiting then being surprised his family was upset with him. But he wised up fast and set about fixing his relationships and he grew on me.
Or maybe it was Alicia who helped me warm up to him. Because I really liked Alicia. She was so sweet and down to earth and she made the people around her better. And I enjoyed the fact she was prepared to honour her promise to her friend despite the connection between her and Doobie.
The book was cute, the story was interesting and I had a nice relaxing afternoon reading it.
This was a cute easy read. Something to tide you over until the next read.
The story line was okay. The character work was good. The book had a fairly smooth flow to it. I was unable to connect to any of the characters, but the book did entertain me. I will read more by this author.

Doobie left his home in New Orleans after a high school heartbroken. He is home now after attending a police academy far away from home, working as an officer, and healing from a bullet. I felt bad about how he was blindsided by his best friend and girlfriend from high school. He was so into what happened to him, he hasn’t been home in five years or called his two sisters. Poor Doobie didn’t realize how hurt his sisters are until he is snubbed by the two. I could understand how both sides felt. I was glad to see that Doobie wanted to put the time in to show his sisters he was staying and wanted to be a part of their lives.
I think it was instant attraction when Doobie met his sister Taylor’s roommate Alicia. Alicia had promised Taylor she wouldn’t fall for Doobie. I know she was sorry she made that promise! I was glad to see that Alicia wanted to help Doobie with decorating his new home as it gave them time to get to know each other. I liked the two together. Since Doobie is a cop, he is able to help some of the people he loves when things go wrong for them. The book got exciting at times. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read the book.
