Can you figure out who the killer is before the guilty culprit is revealed?During an Easter egg hunt, Roland “Beanie” Bean and his two-year-old son Evan are searching for eggs when they find a woman sprawled in the dirt beneath a hibiscus bush. Little Evan thinks the lady is just sleeping, but Beanie knows better. The nasty gash on the woman’s forehead might not have killed her, but the stab … forehead might not have killed her, but the stab wounds in her chest appear to be fatal.
As an investigative reporter at the Palmchat Gazette, Beanie is the perfect person to cover the story, considering that he found the victim.
Narrowing down the field of suspects, Beanie finds out the victim had plenty of enemies. Not only was she unfaithful to her husband, but she was blackmailing her lover and cheating her business partner and may have been involved in a scam with a vicious island cartel.
As Beanie continues to investigate, he uncovers sinister secrets and devious motives among those who were closest to the victim. Racing to discover the killer, he ends up the target of a diabolical murderer who won’t hesitate to kill again.

There it is a detective story that takes place in the very closed world of some rich people of a small town.
The local reporter is drawn, despite himself, into a very mysterious investigation.
I had trouble following the story because of the many characters.
Still, I found the story entertaining and the ending rather exciting, if a little predictable.
I may read another of the books of reporter Roland “Beanie” Bean’s adventures.
Enjoyable cozy mystery. Roland “Beanie” Bean is a tenacious investigative reporter who supports his wife in her efforts to impress her boss at a posh Easter Egg Hunt. While there his 2 year son, unwittingly discovers a dead body, who he refers to as the “sleeping lady”. Beanie is stubborn and curious, which makes a good reporter which makes him the perfect lead character.
The mystery itself is enjoyable, but with so many characters and exposition, I sometimes got lost feeling as if I were missing something.Once the exposition was done, the pace was good and held my attention as I tried to guess “whodunit”.
Overall, an entertaining story, very well written and fun.
The mystery of who stabbed Anna , which was the topic in the title, was pretty well thought out.The many characters were introduced and suspects fleshed out and either cleared or made to look more as possibilitys. I did not care for the distraction of the gang angle as I felt it distracted from the main crime. I believe it is laying grounrdwork for other books in the series but it complicated this story. I think that is why I found it to be a slow read for me, but would still recommend it for readers interested in shorter story with a bit of a seasonal hook.
