After an earth shattering love story filled with dark morbidity and toe curling scenes my heart is in tatters. This book did me in. What an intense storyline. Beautiful funny, brash, head strong, both tormented souls but one full of rage the other withdrawn from life find each other bringing these two characters to life in a daunting tale. I wish I could unread it to read it all over again. As I read the last pages Smith’s words rattle in my head and I am filled with a madness so much so that Callahan needs to be dispensed ASAP. This author has a knack for evoking feeling foreign to me.
This story was a roller coaster of emotions and experiences. Camille was honestly amazing as a character. I love an indepth character, and she is damaged and strong and has you cheering for her through out. Smith is amazingly swoonworthy and I could not put this down. Fair warning, it is a dark and gritty tale, but filled with hot steamy scenes that flowed so naturally still. Jennifer is a talented author with her character development, creating these people who feel very visceral and real. I’ll be re-reading this one again soon, I’m sure.
She saw th man it would be easy, buy it give him the money done only it didn’t go that way Camille became Smith’s apprentice. He taught her everything she would need to know and she told him why. Omg I was so swept up in this, all I can say is this is a must read. I am still digesting it. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I read Lethal Sins first so it was great to get C’s back story. I think it was actually more beneficial to read Lethal Sins first. C completely transforms into the bad ass we know and love in book 1. And Smith is every girls wet dream. Get ready for a hot and dangerous ride!
In the beginning….
Camille and Smith ……both have been molded by their pasts and yet they are drawn to each other and compliment each other in their own dark ways. Sensual sex scenes and a heartwrenching love story make this a gripping read!
4.2 stars
How I wish that I had read this book before I had read Lethal Sins. It would have given me even more insight into Camille and what all she had been through. Especially, one scene in particular from that book. That being said, The way that this author weaves a story and manages to make her audience feel for the characters is impressive. My heart hurt for Camille. I wanted to hug her and be her friend. I cheered for her and when it was all over I wanted to be her friend again because no one should have to go through what she did and be alone.
An achingly dark and gritty story!
And she has done it again!
Ms. Bene develops characters in this book that you should reject on principle. Because they do unpardonable things. Right ?
Wrong! You end up rooting for them, aching with them and crying because of them.
Another book you’ll love to hate, or hate to love ? Oh, who cares !
Please go on writing them!
This story breaks you heart and at the same time makes you think how resilent people are. C had to go thru so much trauma to get thru to the other side that it almost makes you cry. I fell in love with Smith with his killer instinct and his protectiveness of C when he realized his feelings. I really enjoyed how it didn’t end the way I thought it would.
I read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Whoa, I loved this book!! We find out how Camille becomes C, the deadly, tough assasin from Lethal Lies. It’s raw, brutal and oh so good. But wow, Smith…..the man who sees her sass and determination, takes her in and trains her. That man phew, hot or what! I totally fell in love with this character, he’s cold calculating, absolutely lethal, a devastating angel of death, but C is just what he needs. I loved the slow burn and how he finds his humanity again as C channels her strength and learns to deal with the hell she’s been through. They put each others broken bits back together in the most enthralling way.
Hearts and flowers it absolutely isn’t, but that’s not the only way to love, sometimes it’s dark and brutal but no less passionate. You broke my heart Jennifer Bene, but I still love you for it. 5 dark, revenge is sweet stars
Omg this story was awesome and sad and might contain a trigger for some folks. In this story Camille is looking for a gun but what she finds is a teacher, a man who teaches her the ins and outs of becoming a contract killer.Just a warning this is the prequal to a series so even though it can be read as a standalone you will fall in love with the heroine of this story and want to read more about her
Having read Lethal Sin first strangely helped when reading Early Sins. I was enthralled with “C”s early years and horrified by what she had gone through and survived, this was the first indication of her strength. Smith was an enigma but what a charmer and mentor. It seems strange to want two hired killers to be successful but I did until the story became so sad and the scene in Bill’s bar finished me off. Having already read Lethal Sin enabled me to finish the book. I wished it had a different ending, but I understand why it didn’t.
Another amazingly told tale by this brilliant Author! Despite it being extremely brutal at times it’s so well written that you can’t help but fall in love with the characters! It made me laugh and it made me cry and It gripped my attention from first page to last!
Highly recommended!
In this book, we get to understand C. She’s not your usual heroine.
She went a lot at a young age, and in this book, you’re going to know what happened in her past, what drove her to become an assassin.
Camille has walked through hell!!!
Smith is the “guy”, he takes C under his wings and teaches her everything, of course, we talking Jennifer Bene’s book and we can expect some nice dark erotic scenes, you’re not going to feel disappointed I promised.
A very surprise ending but happy nonetheless perfect!
I highly recommend this series
I loved this read. The characters are amazing and the story had me hooked from beginning to end. The story is filled with suspense, drama and an amazing intensity. The chemistry between Camille and Smith is off the charts hot. Can’t wait for more!
This is the prequel to the Dangerous Games series. It is Camille’s story, and it will rip your heart out. I hear your heart gets put back together in the first book of the series, Lethal Sin, which is next on my TBR. Camille is young, angry, and on a mission. She meets Smith, who has the tools she needs to complete her mission. These two don’t ask or volunteer much information. Trust is a rare commodity in their world, so as their working relationship grows, so does the trust, and the unfolding of the past. Camille has to be strong to survive, and Smith tasks himself with ensuring she knows how to survive her darkest nightmares. I loved Camille as a character. She moves from being at the mercy of others, to flourishing under tutelage, to being free and her own person. I wanted so much more of dark, enigmatic Smith. Such an incredible read. Trigger warnings.
I am voluntarily leaving my opinion of a review copy of this book.
Jennifer Bene’s Early Sins (A Dangerous Games Prequel) is powerful stuff. Following along as Camille fries from damaged gal to scary, tough as nails kick-a** dangerous is just a total thrill ride. This is one great novel, well written, great characters and plot, and so totally addictive that I could not put it down. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises – the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. This prequel did what a good prequel is supposed to fo: I’m definitely wanting to read the A Dangerous Games series now.
Camille’s plan for revenge sets the stage for her life
Jennifer is one of my top 10 authors. This book is the prequel in the Dangerous Games series which tells the story of how Camille got a new start in life after trying to buy a gun from Smith. Smith teaches Camille how to be an assassin and assists her in her plan for revenge from her past. Smith and Camille build a special relationship which will bring tears to your eyes. You definitely won’t want to put this book down until the very end.
First Half of Book

It will tug at your heartstrings, make you cry out for justice, and know a passionate once in a lifetime love. I received this book for free and am leaving a voluntary review.
Wow what a ride this book will take you on a ride that you will what to keep up with this faST PACE BOOK because it is a amazing read.
This book had my head spinning. Camille (C) is my hero and Smith, forgot about it. So beautifully written with heartbreak, dark, twists and turns, so good you won’t be able to put it down.
