A thoroughly enjoyable book! I have read several in the series and enjoyed them all. Sweet and clean but very romantic.
Pierce, Earl of Wainthorpe got revenge on the man who killed his mom when he was eight years old. However, at the last minute, a woman was added to the wager that he won which bankrupted the odious man. Although Pierce found the woman’s uncle to be quite unscrupulous to gamble her as if she were property, he dared not say he was uninterested, lest the man gamble her away to someone who would do Bianca Salisbury harm. Protection as a guardian was what Pierce first had in mind for this poor woman who would be otherwise homeless and mistreated, and who believed she needed protection from him—a man considered a rake. What would it take for him to prove that he was to be trusted with loving her? This hero fell fast and hard for a woman he believed to have the wit and character that he would cherish in a lifelong matrimony. It was sweet and powerful to see Pierce’s love and vulnerability towards Bianca and towards his sisters. The heroine was admirable and there was only one scene inside the carriage towards the very end that seemed out of character. The book was a sweet reminder of how love should be.
A game of cards takes a different turn, when the final bet includes a Baron’s ward. Knowing he has the winning hand, Pierce, the Earl of Wainthorpe, has his revenge against the man who killed his mother, until the young lady becomes part of the game. Now his protective instincts motivate him even more to save her.
A disreputable Earl decides to change his reputation for love. I read this in one afternoon. A keeper.
Good story
Pierce, Earl of Wainthorpe, is out for revenge against Baron Fairfax when the two are playing high stakes poker. Pierce holds Fairfax responsible for the death of Pierce’s mother in India, but Pierce is shocked when Fairfax bets the guardianship of his ward Bianca. The next morning Pierce finally meets Bianca when she is delivered to his house by his three sisters. Both Bianca and Pierce feel a sexual attraction and are intrigued with each other. This unusual romance is all about a courtship and is an enjoyable read.
Good story, but it didn’t need the sex.
Unusual story line with plot twist. Keeps you wanting to continue reading.
The type of romance that I like, unpredictable enough to keep me interested
Wonderful!!! As always Collette Cameron doesn’t disappoint. The characters in this story are unforgettable.
Pierce and Bianca are both really strong characters. I really enjoyed this book.
Great storyline
03/21/2021 Collette Cameron has another winner with “Earl of Wainthorpe” (nook). Pierce and Bianca were intrigued with each other from the beginning. There were good life lessons in this story. Pierce learned that revenge was not all that satisfying. I loved that his reputation was more fiction than fact. Great story.
This was a delicious book about a reformed rapscallion. This book shows that love can happen at-a-glance. The Duke,Pierce, is a delectable bad boy. After their first meeting being when he wins her in a game of cards he has to work uphill to win her affections. The whole story is lovely. The family all love the lady he won and are all ready to help him with her tragic tale. Collette has another great book on her hands. Thank you as I enjoyed it very much.
This was such an easy to read book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has an interesting subject matter, wonderfully colorful characters, a blossoming romance (though the people involved would never admit it) and of course a real ugly character too. Oh, I had better not forget the cat for she played a very important part in this story.
I came away feeling like I’d been happily entertained and as that is what I look for in a book, I am quite happy to recommend it to you.
Enjoyed the read
Nice, easy, enjoyable
Made me smile, lovely romantic book
Wagered, Won and Wanted
I liked Earl of Wainthrope by Collette Cameron. The story, though not tightly woven, was entertaining, and the pace didn’t drag. I liked both Pierce and Bianca, and I also liked the bit of humor and sass in their dialogue and inner musings. Since this was a character driven tale, there really wasn’t much excitement in the plot, but it was a fast read with a happy ending.
Content 411: In addition to a moderate amount of secular and religious swearing, there is also some passionate kissing and a sexually intimate scene that is mildly described.
Earl of Wainthorpe: The Honorable Rogues (Wicked Earls Club) – Collette Cameron
Pierce, Earl of Wainthorpe, has waited years to get his revenge of Bertram Normand, Baron Fairfax and finally the opportunity has presented itself for Pierce to ruin Fairfax. The only problem is Fairfax has now thrown his guardianship of Bianca Salisbury on top of the pot in the middle of the table and the worst part; Bianca is sitting in the card room watching it all take place. The one thing Pierce is sure of is, she needs to be rescued from Fairfax, after tonight there is no guessing what he might do with Bianca.
Bianca Salisbury has been the ward of Baron Fairfax since he inherited the title and although he has really not taken care of her in any way shape or form, she has convinced him that her potential family background tracing to James II is the only thing keeping him from turning her out to the streets. That all ends the night Pierce wins her guardianship.
Bianca has a habit to speaking first and realizing that maybe things would go better for her if she just listened and didn’t put her new guardian off. Yes, even in the terrible clothing she has it is evident she is beautiful, yes she has a quick mind and yes she has a quicker mouth that continually gets her in trouble.
Pierce has spent years building himself a terrible reputation with the ton, wouldn’t they be surprised if it were to come out that he really isn’t anything like the ton thinks he is. Add that to the fact that Piece is half English half Indian, well you see what I’m saying?
In an effort to allow his solicitors and a few investigators to find out about Bianca’s family history, getting the courts to recognize that Pierce’s guardianship is legal and making sure Fairfax doesn’t try to harm Bianca in any way, Pierce spirits her off to one of his estates.
As he gets to know Bianca, he realizes that not only is he attracted to her, but he can see how smart, how difficult her childhood was and how he can see that he could come to actually love her.
Pierce and Bianca both carry trauma from their childhoods and often that plays a large roll in how they jump to conclusions or form quick opinions.
This was an enjoyable read!
I enjoyed this book very much. A light, uplifting, fun read.
