This book has love, loss, pain and heartache in it. Grace saw what love can do to and for a woman. Her mother passes away after her son and heir Samuel was born. Grace’s father was devastated and Grace was forced to take on role of Lady Boldon at the age of fifteen. Grace took care of her dad and her brother. Christopher Roker [Kit] made a name for himself in the military. The life of the army suits him. Then tragedy strikes with a horse riding accident killing Carson [Kit’s brother]. Carson was married to Lady Eliza and she was carrying Carson’s baby. After the accident Kit; now had a role he never wanted or expected and new responsibilities. The Wicked Earls’ Club becomes his refuge but, it cannot ease his emptiness. To try to escape his brothers memory/reputation, Kit decides to visit the family estate for the summer. What he didn’t know was that Lady Grace was also visiting from a neighboring estate and she becomes a welcome distraction for Kit. Kit has a chance to return to the Military life but, he finds himself torn between his old lifestyle and the lure of Grace [who is great and a bit unwilling]. I truly loved this story!! Want to know what happens with Grace, Eliza and Kit? Well buy and read this book.
The Earl of Sunderland,Kit, and Grace make their way to each other in a round about way. Do they finally get to each other? This has some sex and violence.
Well-written historical romance with a bit of everything – a tragedy, a conflicted hero, a strong and fragile heroine, interesting characters, and a happily ever after. Characters are well-developed and have layers and depth. The characters genuinely care about one another and want the best for one another. Almost stealing the show is 5-year-old Sammy who brings out the best in all. Grace and Kit are so perfect together and I really liked seeing how they healed one another. They both won me over at their first meeting at the wedding. A sweet, clean romance set mostly in 1815 London.
I really liked reading this book. It is a quick read, moderately paced and the storyline is excellent. This is a clean and wholesome book. It is very emotional. In the beginning we meet Grace. she was fifteen when her mother died after giving birth to a healthy baby boy. Grace now had the responsibility of running the household, caring for her baby brother and witnessing the grieving her father went through. Four years later, Grace attends her dearest cousin Eliza’s wedding. There she met Christopher/Kit, the twin brother of the groom Carson. A year later they become reacquainted under sad circumstances. Then there is happy news and Grace and her family will be spending a month with Eliza. Kit will be there. When they meet again sparks fly. A very enjoyable read. Loved it! Aubrey Wynne’s stories are always wonderful. She has a beautiful writing and she never disappoint. This story is part of the Wicked Earls’ Club series. I love Regency’s romantic stories and this one is really great. I loved the main characters, Grace, Kit and Eliza. I also loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. It was my first listen to the voice of Kevin Archer. He has a great voice and the narration was well done and easy to listen to. I totally recommend this audiobook. I received this free audio book at my request and I voluntarily left this review.
SPARKS FLY!!!
I was captivated by this story as the tale unfold. I was drawn to the characters and their personalities. They meshed well together and the tale, painted with love, loss, pain and heartache. Eyes glued to the pages to see the love spark, inginite and burn brightly between Kit and Grace. Tormented from the memory of her mother’s death she’s determined to never love or marry. The chemistry between the two is so strong you can feel it pouring from the pages. Audrey did an exceptional job in bringing the characters and scenes alive. I highly recommend this read to anyone who loves a good clean Regency romance.
I received an ARC copy for this story.
The death of his twin brother forces Kit to leave the army. Returning home from Waterloo, he is now the Earl Of Sunderland and the future Marquess of Falsbury. It may not be for long when he finds out his brother’s wife is pregnant. His sister-in-law’s cousin is a distraction that he wasn’t expecting. They both have nightmares that can only be overcome by helping each other. A slow build to love with the help of a precocious little boy.
I enjoyed this read – it was a very heartwarming, emotional (at times) & loving story. Christopher Roker, Earl of Sunderland & Grace Beaumont were a great couple with loving & fun family. I did not enjoy this novella as much as the previous 3 in the Wicked Earls’ Club but it was still a good, clean romance but lacked very much about the Wicked Earl’s Club. These are all pretty much stand alone stories but I would suggest reading the Prologue book to the Wicked Earl’s Club (it’s free) to familiarize yourself with the characters.
To loose ones twin is like loosing part of your self. It would be very hard as well as a wife and child on the way as well. But some times good comes from tragedy also. Like a love you would have not had. Very good story. I liked it very much. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Good start to a new clean series. Join these engaging characters in life, war, death, through marriage, childbirth n more.

The Earl of Sutherland is the story of Grace and Kit, two souls whose destinies are forever altered as a result of loss and a strong sense of responsibility. Fate pulls these two together and their attraction prevents them from pulling away. I found myself cheering for their victories and crying during their losses. Beautifully written, Aubrey Wynne took me on a journey into a past I never knew and has created another winner in this sweet historical romance. I received an advance copy of the story in return for an honest review.
Military man Kit was the younger twin, born shortly after his brother, who was first in line to become the Earl of Sunderland. But when his newlywed brother dies shortly after his wedding, Kit returns to his childhood home to take on the title. However, the new widow is expecting a baby and puts the future in limbo. If she has a boy, Kit is back to his old life, but if it’s a girl, he can keep his title and change his life forever. And as they wait for the baby to be born, someone steps into his world that he hopes never leaves.
Grace became the lady of the house at fifteen when her mother died in childbirth after finally producing a male heir. The small family grieved, but Grace threw herself into raising her little brother and running the estate alongside her father. She convinced herself that love and marriage was not for her, but when she visits her recently widowed and pregnant cousin and meets Kit, she may just change her mind.
Squeaky clean, this listen is for all ages. Kit and Grace share a few kisses and brush hands, but nothing more. However, their attraction is very physically based in the book, which was confusing at times since they would later think how great their off page conversations had been. I would have liked to witness their deeper chats and expand on their connection. Although their personalities on their own were very well fleshed out and you did want them to work out, if only to let Grace have her cake and eat it too by way of having a permissive husband who would probably also allow her to stay home.
The subtitle of Wicked Earls’ Club made me wish there was actually more of the bawdy crew in the book! One would think the wicked earls would be, well, wicked. Sure they gambled and cavorted with “ladies of the night,” but that was off page and skimmed over. In fact, no one was wicked. They were all perfectly nice, accommodating, and they should have been called Sweet Earls’ Club instead.
It’s been ages since I’ve listened to an audiobook narrated by a man, but Archer was perfection. His tone and passion really worked for the book and I can’t believe I haven’t listened to him before! His narration work was so convincing, it’s easy to get lost in the world of Grace and Kit.
Overall, it was a cute book, a fast listen, and what a sweet, historical romance should be.
Read the series, seriously good
I am in love with all of these wicked Earls. Once they’re no longer wicked, that is. Swoon!
Enjoyed very much.
Sweet. I feel the blurb doesn’t match the story at all. But it was worth reading.
Ok enjoyed reading this story
This was a great historical romance with an HEA. The characters were well portrayed that allowed you to feel as if you truly know and understand them. The storyline was really good and I was rooting for the main couple really hard by the end of the book. This is a definite must read if you like a sexy historical romance.
Personal tragedy and trauma plague Christopher Roker (Kit), the new Earl of Sunderland. It’s a responsibility that he was not supposed to have. Yet, the cousin to his sister-in-law gives him reason to laugh again. Can he convince her to choose him over her independence?
Grace Beaumont was forced to grow up way too soon. Following the death of her mother, she assumed responsibility at a young age. Can she accept the authority of a husband after enjoying so much independence? Is there really a love strong enough to pull her away from her family?
I mostly enjoyed this book despite its depth of melancholy in the plot. Fortunately, there’s a great deal of humor and I found myself frequently laughing out loud.
My main critique is that much of the relationship is based on physical attraction. Whenever they are together, their thoughts shifted to sensuality rather than personality. Yes, we are told about their long conversations, but that’s just it. We’re told that they talked about various topics. What we are shown is sensuality. Nothing explicit, but still suggestive enough to know where their thoughts are headed. I also cringed when Kit visited the Wicked Earl’s Club. I questioned why that was necessary even if he didn’t go through with it. He still planned it in advance.
Romance / Language – PG / PG13 – sensual thoughts, mostly kissing,
Violence – reference to war and death
My rating – 3 stars.
A beautifully written romantic story! I so enjoyed Kit & Grace’s story. The characters are wonderful and Ms. Wynne does a fantastic job of making them come alive. This isn’t instant love. It’s the true building of a relationship. It is done with much wit and charm and of course love. A must-read!
