Doesn’t Want To Marry.
The Earl of Edgemore is smitten when he comes to the assistance of a Scottish young lady. Thinking she’s a maid from the way she’s dressed, the joke’s on him when he finds out she’s a guest at his home. He’s completely smitten. The more time they spend together, the more their affection grows during the Christmas season. An indiscretion will force them to confront their feelings or lose their chance for love. A short romance that could have ended in disaster.
In a case of mistaken identity, Blake Fox, the Earl of Edgemore rescues Miss Carstine Greer from the snow. He is embarrassed when he realises his error, but as he spends time with the little Scottish miss, he finds himself becoming entranced by her. Unfortunately, he isn’t the only one who finds her attractive, but when he pushes the boundaries, Carstine turns to his rival. It takes a sharp word in his ear by his bossy sister to make him realise what he could be missing. The story ends on a sweet and happy note.I received a copy of this novella as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

My review :
Will two people whose characters clash be able to open their eyes on their feelings in time …
This is my introduction read to Mrs Amanda Mariel’s work and I must say I just loved the opening of this book.
It was witty and fun.
Carstine, such an usual name, as is its bearer. I loved the spitefire in her, she is funny and snarky. She plays to win and enjoys life at the fullest.
Blake is the classic rake, upon seeing a woman, he decides he will bed her, it is a wrong move as the Miss is not the one he thought she was, but she is also so much more entertaining.
I loved their many interactions, as her sharp tongue and vitality brings charms and humor to their encounters.
I was just disappointed she let herself be told what to do and worse that she agreed, it was so out of her character.
As for her wantonness, she was quite a hellion why I was upset at her change of attitude afterward.
I understand the length of the story is what impeded the narrative thus the turn of event and the rushed end.
I feels a bit sad for Mr Kingston as even if he was not the most creative suitor, he was kind and true.
4 stars for this entertaining fast read.
I was granted a free copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

The is a steamy modern historical romance that I really enjoyed. The heroine goes after what she wants and I cheered her on the entire time. It was fun, short and sassy.
When Blake Fox, Earl of Edgemore, stops to help a young woman on the side of the road, he should have been a little more patient and found out who she is. He doesn’t know that he is about to get knocked right onto his arrogant a – attitude. Carstine Greer is staying with Blake’s family for a holiday house party to prepare for the season. Surprise! Neither Blake nor Carstine is really looking for a match at this party, so they agree to “attend” each other to keep others away. It is a perfect plan – if it works, and if they remember it is pretend.
This a quick holiday read. The characters are likeable, although it takes Blake awhile to get there. He is handsome and annoying and needs to grow up a little, no a lot. Carstine is sweet, if a bit naïve. Minerva and Mother are darling, and determined to make matches. A cute story. I enjoyed it.
Another wicked Earl? Oh yes and this one is a rogue but with Christmas at hand and a matchmaking sister, he does not stand a chance.
This is Carstine and Blake Fox’s story and it holds all the wonderful ingredients that I expect from this author. Prepare to groan and smile as these two have a merry chase to their journey for a happy ever after! Loved it!
Book eighteen of the Wicked Earls’ Club series. I wondered how long it was going to take Blake Fox the Earl of Edgemore to realize he loved Miss Carstine Greer. They did not meet under the best of circumstances at first, he thought she was a maid. I found myself smiling as I read. He’s no gentleman.
Blake insists that Carstine is a servant, even though she is not, she’s a wealthy Scottish lady. He then tumbles her in the barn and immediately refused to marry her, even though she was a virgin.
I had a hard time with him, if he was so experienced, he should know better. Then, she has to scramble to find someone to marry her, just in case.

A quick read. Short, passionate but not romantic. I liked the characters well enough. I feel that if the story was a little longer and more time devoted to the romance, I would have enjoyed it better. Also, it did not feel like an end of year holiday romance. Blake mistakes Carstine for his sister’s maid and thinks she tried to trap him into marriage after he seduced her when she is sad and missing her family. There was plenty of arguing in this fiery Regency Christmas romance and they both let their pride get in the way of romance.
A forever perhaps?
Blake Fox meets Carstine Greer on a snowy afternoon he takes her for a maid and is surprised that she is a guest instead. This meeting was not a good start at all. There is more to come in this fun read. The attracting is there from the start but how it ends is what makes this a great read. A good pace for a short read and I loved Minerva’s antics. Who knows perhaps he will not be a member of the Wicked Earl’s Club anymore. I love the book high praise and I recommend it. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Definitely not my favorite by this author. I have read some of her other novellas when she had stories included in anthologies featuring multiple authors and have found her work to be rather hit-and-miss. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. This one falls midway between on the good or bad scale.
2 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Carstine Greer ‘s mother wishes for her to have a season in London so has sent Carstine to her childhood friend the Countess of Edgemore to spend Christmas with the Countess at her house party. Whilst out walking Carstine twists her ankle & whilst putting her boot back on meets The Earl of Edgemore, Blake Fox, is mistaken for a maid. Blake takes Carstine back to the manor house & is surprised to learn she’s an honoured guest. His sister, Lady Minerva has matchmaking on her mind and Christmas provides the perfect opportunity.
This was a quick read that I read in a sitting. The pace was good & for a short story the characters had depth. I liked both Blake & Carstine who didn’t fight too hard against Minerva’s antics. The attraction between the pair was apparent from their first meeting & only grew. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed it, I would have liked for it to have been longer
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Carstine is just doing what her momma wants when she agrees to a London season. She doesn’t want a man from London, a Scott will work for her. Blake is a rogue who loves his mom and sister. Blake and Carstine both agreed neither are looking for marriage. Christmas miracles and a loving sister step in to make things right. I love both Blake and Carstine because they are happy and they enjoy life. This was an amusing Sunday afternoon read for me. A great way to spend a cold day.
I did enjoy reading this story, but it somehow felt like passages had been removed and that Carstine was suffering from a split personality disorder. It was also plagued with quite a few homonyms, though those are easily fixed. Just a bit of editing and rewriting would turn this into a 5 star book, but until then I can only recommend it for people looking for a quick, steamy escape and who don’t care about plausibility issues.
I received a free copy of this book, but that didn’t affect my review.
