An action-packed thriller from global bestseller Wilbur SmithThe Syrian plane disintegrated, evaporating in a gush of silvery smoke, rent through with bright white lightning, and the ejecting pilot’s body was blown clear of the fuselage. For an instant it was outlined ahead of David’s screen, cruciform in shape with arms and legs thrown wide, the helmet still on the head, and the clothing … clothing ballooning in the rush of air.’ He chose this life. And it may cost him everything. From a young age it’s clear that David Morgan is ‘bird’-a natural pilot, most at home in the air. In the South African Air Force he receives plaudits beyond his years, and even his family begins to accept that David will do anything to stay away from the Morgan billion-dollar business, and to keep flying instead. Following his dream and in pursuit of Debra, a beautiful young Israeli writer, David soon joins the Israeli Defence Force and finds himself caught up in the country’s struggles. But when he pays a terrible price for his choices, will he be able to become the man he always hoped -or will he choose to disappear into the skies?

Could have been more pages to read…
This is an older book I read during my high school years (the 70’s; I’m no spring chicken!) and liked a lot. Life happened, the paperback got away from me, and then I couldn’t remember the author or the exact title. When I got my Kindle, I searched for all titles with the word “Eagle” in them. Eventually–here it was, and I read it again. I …
I kept this book rather than pass it on. I bought several more it pass on. if ever a-book needs to be made into a movie….this would be the one! Theres suspense, politics, action…trauma and of coarse, romance.. There have been books I’ve read more than once but i have read this book annually. Spencer Craig, DDiv
Excellent story from an excellent author.
What a ride! Smith really makes the characters real – I felt I knew them. I do really would have rather see ZULU tear out the throat of that “monster”!
Loved it’
One of my favorite authors. Hard to put down
My first Wilbur Smith and now I’m a fan
Wilbur Smith created characters that were incredible, believeable and I didn’t want to see the story end! You felt disdain for the male lead but then it all flipped! I didn’t see the ending coming but was so thrilled! I definitely recommend this author!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hated for it to end.
An interesting story line about the young man who becomes a Pilot – against his family’s wishes. He follows his fate and follows a young woman to Isreal and investigates his Jewish heritage. The story details his single-minded thoughts and what results from them.
one of the most inspiring books that i have ever read.
Wilbur Smith never disappoints. This is a wonderful story of adventure, love and character in a current setting . You learn a lot about Israel and her people today.
I absolutely adore Wilbur Smith. He writes like no other. This books was not up to his usual level. I was disappointed.
First rate adventure story.
I don’t know how realistic the events in the book are, but given the history of Israel it is very possible. The book is a great read, but for me the biggest thing I got was a better appreciation of the people and the country. I don’t think one can read this book and not be affected.
Wilbur is one of the great authors I have read through the years. His stories are epic & Eagle in the Sky is back to the Wilber S that I love. You will not be disappointed while you enjoy this book
Wilbur Smith, James Lee Burke, Mark Gimenez…All are at the top of their game. Can’t go wrong reading any of their stuff.
This is a great romantic experience. It was an adventure following the 2 protagonists through painful years of their lives and coming together in a difficult but, in the end a beautiful way.
A typical good read from this author that keeps you turning the pages. As usual unsexpeted turn of events keep the action and theme moving along.
