Sara hated Brae Johnson almost as much as she loved him. Not that she would ever utter the L word. Not to him. He already had an ego. She’d broke up with him so many times, she’d lost count. But he broke up with her the last time and left her without a backward glance. Good riddance. Luckily for her, He’d left the best part of himself behind. Brae answered the call to his country reluctantly. All … reluctantly. All he’d ever wanted was a home life with Sara but the prickly princess wouldn’t let him love her. He was tired of the fighting and the drama. Then he saw the real war, the brutality, the ultimate play, and watched his best friend maimed. It gave a guy perspective.
When Brae returns home, he sees exactly what he left behind and is more determined than ever to show the stubborn bit what she means to him. They were each other’s only.

Brae went off to war and Sara broke his heart. He proposed a couple of times and Sara always turned him down. Not because she didn’t love him but because she was just too scared! Now he is back. Shoots a man to save his friend’s girlfriend and learns that Sara’s daughter Mina is his. Wow a lot to take in. Well things aren’t over with the family of the dead man and people come hunting him. His friends all show their support including Sara. Does that mean she still loves him. He wants nothing more than to be a father and have a family! It’s time Sara truly shows Brae what she is made of and does indeed come to his rescue!
I loved book 2, but I highly recommend you read book 1 Whole Again! I had trouble remembering details of book 1 and had to go back and reread it and felt book 2 flowed much better the 2nd time I started it!! Great series and hope Flick gets his story!
This is a continuation from a previous story. It is not a second book in a series.
As I had not read the previous book this book was a very hard book to read. I gave up and did not finish.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is the second book in the Hometown Heroes series, I really suggest reading the previous book first as there is plenty of reference to what went down and all the people involved and I was completely lost.
I really liked Brae as a hero, he’s strong and loyal. I loved how he interacted with Mina when he realized she was his daughter. It took me most of the book to even like Sara but fortunately there were plenty of secondary characters that were likable.
I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I voluntarily chose to review it. This is the first book I have read by this author. I really wish that I had read the first book prior to reading this one. Having said that I enjoyed this book for the story itself. A well written story and wonderful characters. The secondary characters are just as great as the main characters. I suggest you read the first book before reading this one, you will enjoy this one more.
** spoiler alert ** They have always loved each other, but will they be able to get it right this time? Will they be able to forgive past mistakes?
I didn’t read the first book in this series before reading this one, but I will say I will be going back to read it now. This book sucked me in and I loved every twist and turn. I loved the fact that these two had a past, that while shaky, they were friends first. I loved seeing these two determined to take the chance to get their Happy Ever After! Great read and cannot wait for more in the series!
