Jana should have had the perfect life. Her father was a Senator but his untimely death has been labelled suicide but Jana knows it was murder. Now there are attempts being made to silence her, so she calls in The Guardian Agency to protect her.
She did not expect Dylan! They are clearly attracted to one another but Dylan is wary of muddying the waters when he is there to protect Jane, not lust after her.
There are a few clear suspects from the outset and a few is-it-isn’t-it-them moments to keep you intrigued. Dylan and Jane have both got traits which run the other the wrong way – just like real life! It is a short read but packed all the same.
The Guardian Agency: Dylan is a fun, exciting, romantic suspense that will hold your interest and keep you guessing. The characters are engaging and the storyline well-written and entertaining. Political agendas, murder, muggings, bar fights, car chases, home invasions, and more will hold you captive in this intriguing addition to The Brotherhood Protector’s World. With a million questions and a lot of suspicions, Jana has nowhere to turn nor does she know whom to trust; especially after finding a cryptic note written by her father after his death. Everyone has believed the lie, that her father committed suicide; however, she knows deep in her bones that conclusion is wrong. She just has to find the information necessary to prove to the world otherwise. With no facts to show, she decides to turn to The Guardian Agency for help. She needs someone on her side, who will believe her and help her find the truth. Little did she realize that she was jumping into the deep end of the pool and getting in way over her head. When her suspicion and paranoia turn into bullets flying, numerous attempts on her life and many other things that are too coincidental to actually be coincidence she has to face the facts, find her resolve to dig deep and prove her father’s death was deliberate. When Dylan shows up from the agency she is hesitant to put her trust and faith in the man. He is nothing like she expected and she is uncertain he can handle the job. He pushes all her hot buttons, takes control and tries to keep her off-center. But when he saves her life and listens to her crazy theories without immediately shutting her down she cannot help but start to like the man and becomes grateful for his help. As they delve deeper into the mystery of her father’s death the closer they become and she realizes she will not come out unscathed. Dylan made a huge error in judgment on a past case and lost everything. He learned his lesson and hardened his heart to any kind of involvement or personal entanglements aside from just doing his job…nothing more. After he was burned so badly before he keeps himself closed off, just wanting to do his job and get by. At least that was the plan until he meets his new client. She is a mix of walking contradictions and is constantly surprising him and throwing him off his game. It also does not help that fact that as he starts to get to know her, the more intrigued he becomes. By the time he realizes the stakes have taken a more personal turn, he is in over his head and decides to take the leap by telling Jana all she has been asking about his past. The only problem is their social standings do not mix and if she is planning to pursue a political career, his ghosts from the past will drag her down. When her case is solved and she is safe, he decides to put it all on the line yet again. However, this time he knows it is the real deal and he definitely wants to play for keeps.
*I received an ARC of this book from the author with no obligation to review. The thoughts expressed in this review are non-biased and completely my own.
This was a well-written and the plot was thought out. Full of action, suspense, and romance. Dylan and Jana worked together to clear how her father died. Their attraction becomes so strong, they can’t resist. Dylan tries to refrain, so he can protect Jana from someone who wants her dead.
No one believes Jana Clayton’s father’s death was anything but a suicide, and she’s determined to prove them wrong. Dylan Parker’s with the Guardian Agency, with whom she’s contracted to help her find the truth. As Jana and Dylan dig deeper into her father’s death, hidden truths and deceptions come to the surface, and someone’s becoming more and more desperate to stop them. While searching for that one vital missing piece to her father’s murder, not only are they putting their lives on the line but also their hearts.
This is an exciting and engaging tale, full of intrigue and a delicious build to a night of steamy passion. The characters are well developed, and the story is packed with fast paced, near lethal action. It’s a quick, exciting read that will keep you turning the page from start to finish. I recommend this appealing tale of deception, suspense, and romance!
Regan Black knows how to weave a suspenseful romance. Jana Clayton needs help proving her father didn’t commit suicide, but she also needs help staying alive long enough to prove it. Dylan Parker knows he has more on his hands than he can handle so he calls in help from Hank Patterson’s Brotherhood Protectors for backup. Together Dylan and Jana work together to form a bond of trust and solve the murder of her father.
Wonderful story. Can’t wait to read more of the Guardian Agency books.
A new to me author and I was not disappointed. I loved the story and the characters.
Jana meets Dylan in a coffee shop and she tells him why she needs help. The story drew me in and kept me reading to find out what happens and alot happens. I could not put it down till I finished it. I recommend this book!!!!!
This book is about danger, murder and corruption with politics that ends in the death of a senator. Jana’s father was found dead in his study in his own home, supposedly a suicide. But she didn’t believe it and hired Dylan from The Guardian Agency. He has ghosts in his past as well as doesn’t trust easily. So these two are on a journey to find the truth. Gread read with a strong story behind it.
Jana and Dylan were both fantastic characters and had great chemistry. Lots of action as the two work together to try to prover her father was murdered. Dylan was a bodyguard and had his own back story. Loved it!
I started reading this and new immediately I had read it previously, so I knew who the culprit was. But this version was fleshed out that I appreciated reading it more this time 🙂 I like the fact that no matter what occurred or what Janas thoughts were, she knew she had to bring in an outside source to investigate and evaluate her fathers death. Stoic Dylan, be still my heart. When he shares what brought him to the Guardian Agency I wanted hold in my arms, and how about the Guardian Agency, how they bring him in,and Claudia with her mad computer skills. Looking forward to finding out more as the series continues. This takes place in the political arena but it is by no means a bogged down oafish political book so do not let the arena detract you from buying the book. Thank you Regan Black for the arc! All thoughts an opinions are my own and unsolicited.
No one believes Jana that her dad didn’t commit suicide and she going to prove them wrong so she hires the Guardian Agency who Dylan is a member of. Can he help her find her fathers murderer? This story is full of lies, suspicions, danger, betrayal, and love. Maybe that’s why I keep coming back and reading Regan Black she always has so much in her books!
Dylan Parker’s vacation is cut short when he gets a message that a client needs him. Jana Clayton’s father’s death has been deemed a suicide, but Jana knows he was murdered. The police won’t listen to her, she feels she’s being followed, so she contacted the Guardian Agency. Dylan’s appearance surprises her: she didn’t expect a handsome cowboy to help with her investigation. But who would want Senator Clayton dead and why? Dylan, at first, thinks Jana’s wrong, that her father wasn’t killed, but when attempts are made on her life, Dylan has to believe she is the one who is right.
Regan Black pulled me in right from the start and the real world vanished for a few hours. The author’s eloquent, elegant, and crisp writing propels the story along, giving enough details without needlessly burdening the narrative with superfluous information. We learn some of Dylan’s past early on, but his startling backstory makes it evident why he understands Jana’s predicament so well. I love that Dylan and Jana had their priorities straight before letting their mutual attraction take over: there’s a murderer to catch, a mystery to solve, and a time for intimacy, and everything happened at the right place and the right time. Speaking of time, I thought it was brilliant that the timeline is this year’s, leading up to Thanksgiving, and I was reading on one of the days mentioned; I don’t recall this ever happened to me before.
DYLAN is a solid suspense novel with a lovely and believable romance, and I love the sparkling witty bits sprinkled here and there. I had some inkling as to who the guilty party might be, but I certainly had no idea why! The characters are extremely well fleshed out, and I was particularly intrigued by the elusive Claudia – Dylan’s technical assistant – who is but a presence working somewhere in the background doing her hi-tech thing; I hope we get to see more of her in future instalments of this series, and that she eventually gets her own story. Regan Black has never failed me before, and somehow I don’t think it will ever happen because she writes romantic suspense the way I like it. Always!
The Guardian Agency:
Dylan
Regan Black
Betrayal from people close to her is incomprehensible, but she knows her dad didn’t commit suicide. She turns to the Guardian Agency agent, Dylan, to help her prove he was murdered. Is her step-mother a wicked witch or really a caring person she has always thought her to be?
What a read of twists and turns from the beginning to the end. Suspense woven throughout as Jana faces the agony and grief and the threats against her life. Trusting no one, but Dylan, they transverse the maze of attacks and clues trying to solve it before the villains can make Jana another casualty.
Settle down for a page turner that is intriguing, suspenseful, gripping and won’t let you put it down.
I am not overly fond of political stories but thoroughly enjoyed. It was unpredictable and suspenseful but a little light on the romance.
