I love this book so much I have the audio too and have purchased as gifts. A must read. Follow what Anita is saying and we can change the world.
There is a good reason why this book has over 2,000 5-star reviews on Amazon.com. Of all the Near Death Experience (NDE) memoirs, this one rises to the top. Anita Moorjani developed life-threatening cancer, worsened all the way to Stage 4, was reduced to a near-skeleton, and died a in the hospital after multiple organ failures, with a full medical record of every detail. Then she came back from the dead. And she recovered her health faster than the doctors could believe, completely cancer-free. So some of the doctors said it had to be a mistake–that such extreme spontaneous remissions just don’t happen–that she must not have had cancer in the first place. Except everything was recorded: all her x-rays, MRI’s, CAT scans, pathology tests, and so on. But much more than that, Anita’s consciousness left her body at death and she could report what was happening around her in her hospital room. And her consciousness went even further: it reunited with her dead father and others in a place beyond time and space. Lest anyone doubt Anita’s authenticity, just watch her past appearances on Wayne Dyer’s PBS specials, on TED Talks or YouTube, or listen to her radio show on Hay House Radio. Her NDE occurred in 2006 and she’s still quite alive and cancer-free, delivering an uplifting spiritual message to millions. If you read only one book about NDE’s and the spiritual implications of cancer, this is the one to choose.
Anita shares her experience with vivid detail. I was with her along every page and every word. Her words completely changed how I feel about life and death. I discarded what I learned from my Western Religious training. I embraced Anita’s view of life and the after life. I have no fear of death and more importantly I fully embrace life.
There are reasons I read this book. As a Stage IV cancer survivor myself, I thought what happened to Anita Moorjani to be highly fascinating, and I truly loved her message. Reading this was inspirational, and while the story became a little repetitive, all in all, I enjoyed it very much. She did a great job answering the questions at the end of the book, as well.
For those on a spiritual journey, I recommend this book. My book club had recommended a similar book, which got me started on the quest to learn more about experiences like Anita’s.
This book inspires every human to achieve greatness!
As I was preparing this review, I realized that anything I say will be of significantly less impact than what Anita Moorjani has beautifully expressed in her book. The experience she describes is astounding, but what really stands out are her profound observations, for example: “My new perspective has made me wonder about our focus and purpose, if reincarnation and time itself don’t exist the way that many of us were raised to believe. What if all our goals are the wrong way around? What if heaven or nirvana is actually HERE in physical expression, and not THERE in the the afterlife?”
“This is primarly because the concept of reincarnation in its conventional form of a progression of lifetimes, running sequentially one after another, wasn’t supported by my NDE. I realized that time doesn’t move in a liner fashion unless we’re using the fiter of our earthly bodies and minds. Once we’re no longer limited by our earthly senses, every moment exists simultaneously. I’ve come to realize that the concept of reincarnation is really just an interpretation, a way for our intellect to make sense of all existence happening at once.”
-and-
“It’s unfortunate that we keep searching outside ouselves for answers-in religion, medicine, scientific study, books, and other people. We think the truth is somewhere out there still elusive. Yet by doing this, we’re only getting more and more lost, appearing to move away from who we truly are. The entire universe is within us. My answers are inside me, and yours lie within you, too. Everything that seemingly happens externally is occuring in order to trigger something within us, to expand us and take us back to who we truly are.
This book was really instrumental for my growth in terms of teaching me how to love and embrace myself. Anita assured us in her own beautiful way that we are all perfect just the way we are, and that we need to do more of what makes us, US. She gave an example of how she used to dye her hair a multitude of colors during her teen years while idolizing Cyndy Lauper and described how that was shunned in her reserved Indian culture. She was made to feel ashamed for her behavior but later reflected that that was just a pure expression of who she was. We should all embrace that facet of ourselves, even if it is not accepted by societal norms. I walked away from her book feeling as if I was a wonderful and perfect creature who was made in the light of perfection; it really helped me embrace myself and foster self-love which is actually pivotal in the face of loving others.
The book was really enjoyable to read and inspiring. It provided hope and guidance.
When I first started reading I wasnt sure if I would finish, but as I got into it I really started to enjoy it and now Im thinking about reading it again.
