And you thought dying once would be hard…On the morning before her 67th death, it is business as usual for agent Jesse Sullivan: meet with the mortician, counsel soon-to-be-dead clients, and have coffee while reading the latest regeneration theory. Jesse dies for a living, literally. Because of a neurological disorder, she is one of the rare people who can serve as a death surrogate, dying so … surrogate, dying so others don’t have to.
Although each death replacement is different, the result is the same: a life is saved, and Jesse resurrects days later with sore muscles, new scars, and another hole in her memory. But when Jesse is murdered and becomes the sole suspect in a federal investigation, more than her freedom and sanity are at stake. She must catch the killer herself–or die trying.
Dying for a Living is the first book in Kory M. Shrum’s gripping contemporary fantasy series. If you like page-turning action, tough as nails heroines, and perfectly-paced suspense, then you’ll love this “hilarious” and “supernaturally fantastic” ride.

This has become one of my new favorite series. I love the unique story and the characters are ones I would actually want to know, most of them anyway. I also like how the author wrote Jesse, the main character, as bisexual. I don’t come across many books like that. It is a fun series with humor and heart.
This is the most original and entertaining take on zombies I’ve ever read! And Jesse Sullivan is hilarious and intriguing and the perfect set of eyes to see this story unfold through. The added bonus of mystery, action, and romance launched this book into my favorites. The entire series is phenomenal.
Dying for A Living is a very creative SciFi/ Fantasy story. This is the first of the seven books in the series. Even though this is not my usual go to genre, I found the plot very interesting and quite imaginative. The main character, Jess, has a dynamic and very witty personality. She’s a great character and very likable. The author, Kory M. …
Interesting take on Zombie genre, where the undead are the good guys, and their killers the bad guys.
A fun little romp, but with some depth and gravitas as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed the humorous sarcasm of the main character and the fast paced dilemmas she got herself into. The premise of being a replacement agent was very original and I loved the fact the “zombie” wasn’t devouring people’s brains and that she wasn’t a zombie in the traditional sense of the word. Very fun and entertaining but also …
Enjoyable book. Concept is unique.
This book has an interesting premise but for some reason it could not keep my attention. I was not compelled to keep reading so gave up about 1/2 way through.
Definitely an adult book but the characters were drawing in their brokenness and the storyline was addictive.
I didn’t even get through the first chapter. From a pure literary analysis of the book, it is very well written. The characters were well described as were the locations and emotions that the characters visited and felt. The problem that I had with this book is that the book contained gay characters, which is something that I don’t agree with …
Enjoyed full series.
Great story, very through and inventive. Story was a little hard to follow at times, but overall a great read
Awesome book! I want to read them all now.
The ideas within this book are so unique, I can honestly say I have never read anything like this before. I was immediately drawn in by the main character, Jesse, who, like the title says: dies for a living. Literally. Her “job” as a death replacement agent is to die for someone else so they don’t have to. And yes, she comes back to life a day or …
Book has a very unique premise to it that lays the groundwork for the world building within its pages. Characters are likeable and substantial.
this was a really different type of story for me to read. I found it entertaining and easy to read.
Interesting premise and well executed plot.
Interesting plot. Well written.
Good take on the zombie theme.
The author created a whole new kind of world for the characters to live in. Very original concept.
