A SYNTH SEARCHING FOR PURPOSE… merely as resupply stations between increasingly long treks. But one night — one human woman — makes him question everything.
A WOMAN WHO BRINGS HIM TO LIFE…
Lara Brooks struggles to survive under the strict rules imposed by the bots in Cheyenne. With her sister missing, she’s been on her own for weeks, and fears the worst. Her only hope comes from Ronin, a bot she catches spying on her. He promises to provide for Lara and search for her sister. All she has to do is dance. It should be easy; she’s done it before. But the longer she spends with Ronin, the harder it is to see him as just another bot.
A SANCTUARY HIDING DARK SECRETS…
In a city where humans are relegated to live in squalor, Ronin discovers a threat greater than any in the Dust — Warlord, Cheyenne’s tyrannical leader. When Ronin ignores the rules, he unwittingly puts Lara in danger. Warlord is as intolerant of disrespect as he is of mankind.

It’s a richly written story with the words woven together to make a tapestry of feelings. Even if I might have skimmed some of the descriptions because I’m not a details person, I had to know what happened to these characters. The story seemed real and very possible and I liked how I wasn’t told everything but discovered the important points as necessary. The ending fit perfectly even if I didn’t happen to like it. I can’t imagine anyone would but as I said, it fits perfectly. Highly recommend.
Dustwalker is outstanding for its world-building. It takes place on post-apocalyptic Earth after humans have all but destroyed the planet and bots have become sentient. Humans are living in squalor and in fear of a tyrannical robotic ruler. Into this, comes a lone dustwalker, a bot in search of meaning, whose journey nears completion when he catches sight of a woman dancing. This is a well-written book with a beautiful romance set in harsh, but believable world. It starts out dystopian, but ends on a more utopian note. That said–no spoilers–I found the epilogue to be a downer. It took my enjoyment down a big notch.
Powerful and heartbreakingly beautiful
I love to read SF, ad I love SF romances. That they are separate genres speaks to the divergent focus of writers and readers both. Some live for the “pew, pew” and others for the sexy stuff. I live to read books like this one – where both sets of expectations are met, and exceeded. The essential human questions – what it means to be alive, the reason for love and hope, rage and apathy – underpin the tale of humans and robots who struggle for survival in a dystopian future. Ronin the sentient bot walks the wilderness of Dust in search of his lost purpose. In a shantytown where the vicious bot Warlord tyrannizes struggling humans, human Lara scavenges to survive not just hunger and humiliation, but the loss of family, friends, love and compassion. There is no better future awaiting either of them, and survival is more about habit than hope. Their accidental meeting sets the stage for an emotional evolution within, and eventually foments a revolution without. I can’t begin to describe the depth and power of this story. The writing duo that is Tiffany Roberts builds a world so broken, populates it with characters so badly damaged yet determined to be all they can become, that I was carried straight into their lives, and felt their every awakened emotion as though I were one of them. The epilogue is magnificent and even though it made me cry, there could be no more perfect ending to this story of finite lives and everlasting love. One click this one, and anything else by Tiffany Roberts – I certainly will.
I’m a huge fan of Tiffany Roberts’ books. I finally got around to reading Dustwalker and… WOW! Wrecked. Lara Brooks has survived two decades in the dust. Scavenging and starving is about all she knows. Ronin is a cyborg (bot) that has been wandering the dust for well over a century. A chance encounter clashes Ronin and Lara together. Ronin is interested in Lara, but doesn’t know why. Lara goes with Ronin for safety and to appease her hunger. In a world full of prejudice and evil, these two make time stand still. There’s so much inside this story that I can’t even begin to express the depth of it. This is a must-read for anyone who loves to read Cyborg romance. I shed tears and celebrated Ronin and Lara’s small triumphs. I definitely have a book hangover after this one! 5 stars!
Another hit. I literally have loved every one of the authors’ books I’ve read thus far and this book certainly didn’t nullify that statement. This is a beautiful story about a love so strong it transcended predjudice, physical differences, and even death itself. I was in tears at the end and that does NOT happen. I’m blown away.
One of the best books I’ve read this year.
