With unparalleled high-tension suspense and the latest in forensic technology, Patricia Cornwell once again proves her exceptional ability to surprise—and to thrill—in this electrifying Kay Scarpetta novel.A body, oddly draped in an unusual cloth, has just been discovered inside the sheltered gates of MIT, and it’s suspected the identity is that of missing computer engineering grad student Gail … grad student Gail Shipton, last seen the night before at a trendy Cambridge bar. It appears she’s been murdered, mere weeks before the trial in her $100 million lawsuit against her former financial manager, and Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner Kay Scarpetta doubts it’s a coincidence. She also fears the case may have a connection with her computer genius niece, Lucy.
In Dust, Scarpetta and her colleagues are up against a force far more sinister than a sexual predator who fits the criminal classification of a “spectacle killer.” The murder of Gail Shipton soon leads deep into the dark world of designer drugs, drone technology, organized crime, and shocking corruption at the highest levels.

Great read!
A bit too much reading about Kay’s thoughts. Good plot.
Not her best, average or below
Boring
Just finished Dust by Patricia Cornwell loved it. Her writing style and details is amazing. Loved this book the medical examiner Kay Scarpetta smart and her niece Lucy are great characters. I highly recommend this book.
very detailed
Any Kay Scarpetta book is tops in my world
Always love Patricia Cornwell
I couldn’t finish the book, couldn’t keep my interest
Patricia Cornwell delivers a satisfying read everytime. I really like the characters. Kay the forensic medical chief, her husband, Benton the FBI profiler, Lucy her kickass niece, Marino police detective ( not so much).
Story pulls you in. Seduces you to keep turning pages when you know you have other things to do. I’m always sorry to finish a book. While there is a chronology, I’ve read them out of order and the magic still happens although this book did deliver a spoiler for a previous book I’ve not yet read.
Can’t recommend it or any of her books highly enough. If you like a good mystery with well developed characters and relationships you might feel invested in (she would probably not end a sentence with a preposition) then get the book and curl up in a comfy chair for a satisfying sojourn in someone else’s world.
As always, Patricia Cornwell is at the top of her game. Interesting characters. And always inventive victims. Last minute solves.
Thriller with detective Scarpetta. Lucy key to solving the dust of the crime!
Always like the characters. but this book had no surprises and was just average
I’m halfway thru this book. It’s not my first Cornwell read. Cornwell has great skill with languaging even the setting of each chapter – and ‘halfway’ in this writing is about 24 or so hours into the story. The detail she weaves into her stories remarkably keeps me, the reader, content and engaged moment to moment in the unfolding of this forensic mystery. Well done, Patricia Cornwell.
Patricia Cornwell does it again. I have not read a book of hers I didn’t like.
Great book!
Another page-turner by one of the best authors in the genre.
Always learn something from her books.
Like all her books.
Great read. Patricia Cornwell is an excellent writer. I have read most if the Scarpetta series and find them very entertaining, page turns, riveting and hard to put down. Dust delivers as all of her books. You won’t be disappointed!!
