“When your whole world is shaken from all the risks we have taken, dance with me. Dance with me into the colors of dusk.” ~ Ben Harper.I’ve served my country, a man, and a cause. I’ve given my whole being while at the same time finding its true meaning. There was no way for me to know that the day I met the men who were to become my best friends they would introduce me to the love of my life. … my life.
Fiery, red hair and hypnotizing, emerald eyes caught my attention.
Creamy soft skin, a stark contrast to mine, seduced my body.
Strength, devotion, and determination stole my heart.
I am Reid Murray and I’ll kill without regret to once again dance in the dusk with my wife. This war has only begun. I won’t rest until it’s done.

The Queen of Dark Romance is back with a new thrilling trilogy that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Lorna and Reid’s story, set in her Sparrow Web world, is filled with intrigue and many twists and turns. And sizzling heat too. It will leave you breathless, craving more! Highly recommend!
4 stars
Dusk is book one in a spinoff Sparrow series by Aleatha Romig. While the synopsis says the book can be read as a standalone, I do not recommend reading this book without at least some knowledge of the Sparrow universe. For maximum enjoyment, read in order. As I hadn’t read any of the Sparrow books, I found myself somewhat confused by elements of the storyline but that didn’t keep me from appreciating Romig’s mastery.
This book is about Lorna and Reid. Lorna was the first Sparrow wife and helped to ground the men of the group, especially Reid; then as the de-facto mother figure, she welcomed each new wife as they joined the men. We learn more about Reid and her beginning as she remembers while in captivity. The writing is, as usual, brilliant, packed with emotions and intrigue. Aleatha Romig continues to be a must read author!

And now I need book two immediately!! This story kept me on my toes in a suspense packed story that was hooked me from the beginning. I’m in anticipation for more of the sparrows
Aleatha Romig is the QUEEN of unpredictable romantic suspense!
Dusk is the first book in a trilogy by Aleatha Romig set in the Sparrow World. Not reading the other books was fine, but I’m sure if you did and met the characters in here again, it was a welcome sight and provided some context about their history and relationship to each other. There are four main couples, and the book jumps right into the action from the first page with the kidnapping of two of our female characters from those main coupling: Lorna and her friend Araneae. We don’t know much about how the women were kidnapped, but the book set up the story for us to see how dominant, prominent, and dangerous their husbands are and the extent they’re willing to go to protect their wives and get them back.
The first book from any series set up the story, and here we see flashbacks of Lorna and Reid and how they came to be a couple. Lorna is portrayed as someone unwanted in the Sparrow world, but she has a strong connection to her brother Mason and her lover Reid. Through flashbacks, we see glimpses of her difficult upbringing, but her eventual welcome to the main group. We also witness Reid’s feelings for Lorna, both in the past and present and see his determination to find her again. The kidnapping was a warning to our characters, and I’m interested to see how the men and women will use their talents to unravel the mystery of why they’re in the line of fire and who wants to harm them.
Pulse racing suspense and mystery!
WOW! This is definitely a story that kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, not knowing what was going to happen next. I was utterly captivated and highly entertained. The suspense and mystery throughout the story kept me riveted to my seat. I was not going to look away, afraid I might miss something crucial to the outcome of the story. And that ending, DAMN, what a way to end the book leaving us readers on the edge, begging for more.
The characters are all phenomenal and the plot line is so thick I could cut it with a knife. It’s a plus racing, heart pounding, suspenseful story. I can’t wait to see where this all ends up. Bring on the next book – I am ready!
Highly recommend.
Dangerous Webs are weaved…now just where they will take us is shaping up to be a thrilling ride. Dusk starts off with a mystery that continues through out the book all the way to that jaw dropping cliffhanger. I love the Sparrow world and Reid and Lorna’s story of past and present comes alive on the pages. We have seen these two in past books, but now we dive into their story and boy does it have a lot of twist and turns. Can’t wait for the next book to continue into the Sparrow world and see what thrilling ride awaits us.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
This was my first book by Aleatha Romig. While I enjoyed the suspense, fast pace, and strong characters, I felt a bit lost. There’s a huge backstory here as this a continuation of previous trilogies. Ms. Romig does an admirable job in trying to bring the reader up to speed, but the cast of characters is so large that I needed a flow chart. With that said, I liked the book and knew there would be a cliffhanger at the end. Reid and Lorna are great characters. Both are fierce and their love for one another is what drives them through the situation of Lorna being kidnapped and Reid trying to find her. Their love story is told in present day as well as past flashbacks. These flashbacks give us the backstory of their relationship and the challenges they faced. The present day narrative centers around Lorna’s ordeal with her mysterious captors as well as Reid and the team from Sparrow working to rescue her.
I enjoyed the story overall and can’t wait to find out who kidnapped Lorna and why.
“DUSK OR DAWN, WHICH WOULD WIN?” … THE WAR OF WARS
“I am Reid Murray, and I’ll kill without regret to once again dance in the dusk with my wife. This war has only begun. I won’t rest until it’s done.”
DUSK is “the very end of astronomical twilight, the darkest part.” It’s about to get very, very dusky as the Sparrows face their most harrowing challenge from a threat that happens right under their noses … with virtually no clues left behind. What fool would pull off such a bold move by striking at the Sparrows’ very heart and on their own turf? And such a shock witnessing the Sparrows caught flatfooted in their darkest hour without any idea how to proceed. Book 1 really mixes it up with their frantic response, a riddle to be solved, and at least a thousand other things that complicate matters and left me dizzy. Compared to the other Web trilogies, this one really amps up the stakes and drama for all of them to next level vulnerability, so take a deep breath and hop on for an accelerated ride on the Sparrow Webs’ suspense train with a totally fresh spin on the couples and empire.
Lorna and Reid are THE couple in this trilogy with a sizzlin’ hot marriage and insane chemistry. All the Sparrow couples – and especially the incredible Sparrow women – are front and center in this mystery which tests their relationships and future. AR does a masterful job of weaving another precarious and treacherous web of mystery on a breathless journey to the truth. Not only is the story a twisty web of dead-ends, surprise turns, and forks in the road, but we’ve barely scratched the exciting and turbulent surface of the next chapter in Sparrow World.
Dusk is Book 1 in the Dangerous Web series by Aleatha Romig. This is Reid and Lorna’s story. This tells their beginning and how they are in their current position. Without giving anything away, this is definitely full of chemistry between Reid and Lorna. There is danger, suspense, intrigue, action, excitement, passion and it ends in a cliffhanger of an ending. I need book 2 to find out what happens next!!
My Rating: 4.7 stars ********
5 WILD RIDE STARS!! This one kept me on my toes. Reid and Lorna took is on one crazy ride that we have grown to expect from this author. This book was fast paced and I read in one sitting, so buckle up and get ready. I need the next book like now.
Absolutely wonderful!! In a perfectly told story, incorporating past and present storylines, Reid and Lorna’s story shines. I simply could not put my kindle down wanting to know more and more.
The Sparrow World is addicting in my opinion. Reid is the last alpha to have his story told. Reid and Lorna have been together since the first series but we never really knew their story. They were married and part of the Sparrow world. But now we get to know how their past has shaped them and how the present is now shaping to be full of twists and turns, dangerous situations and new revelations. All I can say is get ready to be Aleatha’d.
This one. Damn. Right from the first page. DUSK was impossible to put down and I finished it in no time. I cannot wait for DARK and to get more of Reid and Lorna.
Aleatha never fails to surprise me! Another amazing read!
This book certainly started off with a bang! But who? Why? Where? As we watch the men do what they do best, we watch the women stand strong and fight for themselves and each other. It’s a roller coaster of a mystery while we learn more about Lorna and Reid. What a great start to the trilogy!
Fantastic read!!
From page one this new series was an exciting and intense supercharged story.
This new series focuses on Reid and Lorna, a couple I’ve come to know and love from the prior books in the Sparrow Webs. If you’ve read the prior trilogies about the other members of the Sparrow world, some of the elements of this story are familiar. However, this author is masterful in offering enough insight about the characters’ past that you can understand, follow and enjoy this book without having read the others.
This new trilogy is off to a fantastic start!
Told in dual POV, past and present, I got front and center seat to the compelling and heart wrenching story of Lorna and Reid. Their past, their secrets and their dreams are fully explored.
Despite all the drama, suspense and the high stakes involved in solving this mystery, this is a love story.
Behind the turmoil and torment of solving a botched crime mystery, Reid and Lorna’s story of love and passion shines.
I’ve been Aleatha’d again and again!
This book was pure adrenaline and I cannot wait to see what happens next !
5 This Isn’t Going to End Well for Someone Stars!!
To say this first book in this new trilogy starts off with a bang is putting it mildly. I mean I literally said out loud to my dog… Holy Moly!! Aleatha Romig definitely knows how to grab the reader’s attention that’s for sure and this one of the reasons I look forward to being Aleatha’d when I pick up her books.
I can already tell this series is going to have me chomping at the bit to see what happens next. For obvious reasons I can’t give too much away with this review. But what I can tell you is that there’s danger lurking in the Sparrow world and if you know anything about this world, then you know messing with and/or putting into danger anyone they love will not be good for the fool who dares to enter their stratosphere uninvited!
I’ve just finished Dusk and I’m SO READY for Dark and I’m just not sure how I’m going to deal with having to wait until January for that book to be released!!
Well, there’s no need to say that Aleatha Romig is one of my favorite authors. Her writing is everything!
The world she created with Sparrow Webs is AMAZING and I was dying to know more about Lorna and Reid. Of course I need more, because Aleatha leaves us completely in the DARK with this ending. (I did a thing here, hehehe).
I loved the way we get to know their story between the past and present, giving us the complete picture of everything they feel at the moment. All the action, the intriguing and intense way the story is delivered, kept me glued to the book until the end.
Again, I love being Aleatha’d!!!!
Dark…. I need it now!!!
I have enjoyed the Sparrow world and I’m glad to see we have one more series that is centered on Reid and Lorna. I thoroughly enjoyed their first meeting and was excited to learn more about them. One of the things I love about Aleatha Romig’s writing is her ability to keep me in suspense and surprise me. I think I have the clues worked out and then I realise it has been turned around and, in fact, I didn’t know what was happening. And this is what happened here. I was kept in suspense and mystery is all around. I think that’s what draws me to Aleatha’s stories – her ability to capture the reader’s attention and hold it. No spoilers so just prepare yourself for a twisty read with a cliffhanger. All I can say is bring on Dark!
WOW! I am blown away by how captivating this storyline is, and it’s the FIRST book in the series! I didn’t think Lorna and Reid’s story was going to be this exciting, but this author is beyond talented and she just has the gift of weaving the story so you feel like you’re on the edge of your seat! I burned through these pages, just devoured it! Amazing start. This is my voluntary review after reading an ARC.
