“When your whole world is shaken from all the risks we have taken, dance with me. Dance with me into the colors of dusk.” ~ Ben Harper.I’ve served my country, a man, and a cause. I’ve given my whole being while at the same time finding its true meaning. There was no way for me to know that the day I met the men who were to become my best friends they would introduce me to the love of my life. … my life.
Fiery, red hair and hypnotizing, emerald eyes caught my attention.
Creamy soft skin, a stark contrast to mine, seduced my body.
Strength, devotion, and determination stole my heart.
I am Reid Murray and I’ll kill without regret to once again dance in the dusk with my wife. This war has only begun. I won’t rest until it’s done.
From New York Times bestselling author comes a brand-new dark romance, DUSK, set in the dangerous world of the Chicago underground. It’s time to get caught up in this new and intriguing saga, Dangerous Web.
DUSK is book one of the DANGEROUS WEB trilogy that continues in DARK and concludes in DAWN.

This book hits the ground running and does not give up its pace throughout! What a fantastic read! I was so excited to be getting Lorna and Reid’s book and anxiously waiting to see what Aleatha had in store for us. And, as always, Aleatha has come up with an tense, dramatic story that also is deeply romantic, has warmth and family, has times recollecting heart break, and the further development of each character we know and love. I couldn’t put it down and have broken reading records getting to the end of this episode…and what an end! My cliffhanger anxiety is at full capacity, knowing I won’t have to suffer too long before the next book is out. Fabulous
As usual I was lost in Aleatha’s words ..a magic touch that weaves into my mind ..
Reid Murray a computer genius is a member of the Sparrow team ..
He meets redhead Lorna Pierce a connection is made between them ,their journey is about to go ballistic…
Such a wonderful story of Lies , deception , kidnapping , with so much more going on .
Intrigue upon intrigue arousing my curiosity making me think ..
It is like a tangled web of lies trying to undo piece by piece along the way it will entangle once again… again ….
There is past and present up to now , you meet all of The Sparrow Team with their wives they all have a job to get done …
The mystery started from page one and continued non stop ..
My attention is piqued awaiting for book two with patience …. I need to find out what happens next …. Such a fascinating read … I am hooked ..
Dusk is the first book of the Dangerous Web series. Reid Murray and Lorna Pierce’s story, Aleatha, introduced them in the Web of Sin series and gave us a little back story on how they met in Cinderella, a novella published in Dark Fairy Tales earlier this year. But no worries, if you didn’t read it, you can still enjoy this story.
Reid Murray is the computer wizard, a sleuth finder of hidden gems on the screen, be it computers or videos. But don’t let his brains fool you; he will break your neck if necessary. He is a trained soldier like his best friends, Mason Pierce, Patrick Kelly, and Sterling Sparrow. These four men are not only friends, soldiers, and brothers who served their country and now maintain Chicago’s underbelly.
Mason’s sister is Lorna, a fiery red-head with creamy porcelain skin and emerald green eyes that will melt your soul. When Reid meets Lorna at a party, he falls head or heels in love. This story has all the feels, but there are so many hurdles. The mysteries and challenges are never-ending. I love the whole Web series: Tangled Web, Web of Secrets, and Web of Desire.
Have you been Aleatha’d?
I’m so excited to FINALLY be getting Reid and Lorna’s story!!!
Technically their official story kicks off in the novella Dangers First Kiss. It is not necessary to read the novella, but that novella is their first meeting and it was GREAT!!
Throughout all the other Sparrows Web trilogies, we’ve met and known Reid and Lorna. While the other trilogies were the HEAs for Sterling, Mason/Kader, and Patrick…Reid and Lorna were always heavily involved and known. Now we get their story.
Aleatha takes us back and forth between present and past. If you’ve already read the other trilogies, you know that Reid and Lorna have been married for several years, we just never got to experience their relationship in the early years, and now we do =)
If you go back to my other reviews of the other stories/trilogies, I think I say nearly every time that Aleatha Romig knows how to spin a web and mystery and intrigue…and, quite frankly, I’m saying it again! This story has it all…and it’s just beginning!!
Twists, turns, everything that comes with being immersed in the Sparrow Webs world…it’s all here!
Men that love their women with EVERYTHING they have…women that love their men with the same EVERYTHING they have.
Hot, passionate scenes!!
Secrets.
And then that cliffhanger!!!
This is Reid’s story, but we get to experience Sterling, Mason and Patrick in all their glory, too.
Reid is AMAZING!!! I have loved each of these men in the series, but I just have a feeling that Reid is going to take the top spot. They all love so fiercely, passionately, protectively, deeply, alpha-y…but I just have this feeling the Reid is on a whole other level, and I can’t wait to see it!
I also think Lorna is going to be the same. I think she is going to be a huge force to be reckoned with.
As I said, I’ve been DYING for their story, but until now I didn’t know how much I was dying for it!!!
You do not HAVE to read the previous three trilogies to read this one…but I HIGHLY recommend it to give an overall more rounded view of the Sparrow Webs world. Plus, they are all amazing!!
5 Star Review of Dusk (Dangerous Webb) by Aleatha Romig
Dusk is the first book in the latest series Dangerous Web from Aleatha Romig. This is Reid Murray and Lorna Pierce’s story and although I haven’t read any of the previous books in the Web series, I had no trouble reading and enjoying this book.
Reid is a computer genius, a former soldier and a man who can be depended on, along with his best friends Mason Pierce, Patrick Kelly, and Sterling Sparrow. Falling for Lorna, Mason’s sister should have been easy but it wasn’t.
I really liked both Reid and Lorna, both separately and especially together. There were many twists and turns, mystery and suspense and I was often on the edge of my seat as I read this story and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next two books Dark and Dawn.
I am loving Lorna and Reids story. After reading Dangers First Kiss, I couldn’t wait to get more. They have been with us since the beginning and they deserved to have their love story told. And let me tell you, we get so much more than just a love story.
Their story goes between the past and present from both perspectives and I thoroughly enjoyed getting more of their backstory from their own views. We always knew they were amazing characters but never knew exactly how they became to be that way.
Someone is being incredibly brave and going after the Sparrow women. They want to get their hands on one in particular but we have no clue why or who they are.
The more you read, the more you become tangled in the web. My mind comes up with many theories along the way but we don’t get any answers just yet. Just more twists and turns along the way to mess with us and get Aleatha’d. Yes, it’s a real thing.
That ending was a jaw dropper. All I could say was “No way!!! All this time….!!!” I need answers. Come on Dark!!
This trilogy can be read apart from the other trilogies in this series but I highly recommend reading them all. Starting from the beginning will give you a better understanding of all the characters and what they all have been through together. I have read and loved them all. I promise you will love everyone of these characters!
The mystery begins on the first page, and the mystery and intrigue are maintained throughout. I won’t say more to prevent spoilers.
I wasn’t sure what to expect since Reid and Lorna have been together since the beginning of the Sparrow books. We are lucky to have everyone in the Sparrow world involved in Reid & Lorna’s story. We are treated to flashbacks of the beginning of Reid and Lorna’s love story that provide further insights into their relationship and the strong, enduring friendship of the Sparrow men.
Just know, once you start Dusk, you won’t want to stop reading and will immediately demand Dark upon completion. Get ready for the twists and surprises; Dusk is everything you expect from an Aleatha Romig novel!
Loved. We meet Lorna and Reid in Lies (Web of Sin). In each book, in the Sparrow Webs, we got to know them a little better and now we get to know their story. Dusk brings us full circle from the beginning until now. Lorna is such a beautiful loving character, she has always been one of my favorites of the Sparrow family.
Lorna and Reid will warm your heart becoming one of your favorite couples. Can’t wait for the rest of this story.
I liked this one. Especially the beginning. I think the past/present chapters worked very well here and it was nice to view the Reid and Lorna’s beginning of their relationship. I didn’t read the last trilogy (Web of Desire trilogy), but I can’t help if the ending in that one led to the beginning of Dangerous Web series. If so I’m sure it was minimal, because I believe Aleatha did say these are standalone trilogies. It didn’t take me long to remember who’s who, etc… Of course with the ending here makes me sure I’ll be back for Dark book 2.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Starts off a bit weird but stick with it. A real kicker of an ending.
It was great learning more about Reid and Lorna’s story AND catching up with all our favorite characters from this series.
I can’t wait for the next book!!! I hope my assumption of what might happen, absolutely does!! No spoilers from me!!
Aleatha Romig has been a favorite of mine for years!!! Amazing character development and story lines!!
Have you been Aleatha’d yet??
There’s more suspense and intrigue in Dusk (Dangerous Web #1) which
continues the Sparrow Webs Series. This trilogy is Reid and Lorna’s story and there’s a lot more mystery unfolding, and of course more of the sexy head Sparrow’s to get your pulse racing. It’s an absolute must read!
Before starting Dusk, I told my husband I was scared. Aleatha’s worlds have a way of driving me crazy… Mostly in a good way but it can be a little intimidating going in knowing that characters you’ve grown to love are about to be in life or death situations. My husband rolled his eyes, not understanding the importance of these fictional people, and went back to playing his game. 10 minutes later, I slammed my phone down beside me, turned to my husband, and yelled, “Chapter f*cking ONE!”
My husband doesn’t understand why I continue to let Aleatha’s words torture me, but as scared as I usually am to start the journey, I ALWAYS love the ride… even though I usually curse excessively along the way.
Dusk was no different. I felt fear reading about what the ladies were going through, felt anxiety reading about the men desperately searching for them, laughed way too hard when Reid called Lorna a chicken nugget, cursed excessively as Aleatha’s words tortured me, and of course, loved every minute of it.
Aleatha Romig is a one-click author for me. Everything I’ve read I’ve enjoyed very much. Dusk is no exception.
Sterling Sparrow captured my heart from the first book in the Sparrow Webs series (Web of Sin) so I couldn’t wait to read the stories behind those few whom Sterling Sparrow trusts with his life.
No spoilers…so I’ll just say if you enjoy dark romance, alpha heroes that will do anything to protect those they love, and spicy love scenes, you’ll love this entire series. I especially love the way Romig weaves a tale full of twists, many of which you will not see coming. Her stories are plot strong and full of characters you’ll follow to the end.
Caution: I wait until the full series is available because I don’t like cliffhanger endings, and each book in this series is the precursor to the next until the story is complete.
Again, well done Ms. Romig. Well done.
If you’re anything like me and are a fan of Aleatha, you have been waiting for Reid and Lorna’s story. This first installment has been well worth the wait. Their story starts with a lot of surprises that leaves Reid having to do things he hasn’t to in a long time. Definitely start this story now!
This is the first book in the Dangerous Web Trilogy, a Romantic Suspense. This story takes place nine years after Lorna and Reid’s first meeting in the prequel Danger’s First Kiss. You don’t have to read this prequel before, but I recommend you to do so. Dusk is captivating. The storyline is suspenseful, intricate, and filled with danger, mystery and twists and turns. Lorna is a strong character. Reid is handsome, determined, and protective. The cast of supporting characters is impressive, and they have an important part in the story. The Sparrow men are handsome, powerful, and intriguing. The back and forth, past to present, is complex and well done. The story ends with a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read Dark, the next book in the Trilogy. This Series is interconnected with: Web of Sin (Sterling and Araneae’s story), Tangled Web (Mason and Laurel’s story), and Web of Desire (Patrick and Madeline’s story).
Dusk (Sparrows Web # 10, Dangerous Web #1) by Aleatha Romig tells the story of Reid and Lorna. Their story initially starts in Danger’s First Kiss. It is a cute novella with a Cinderella vibe. If you can, read it. Reid is part of the Sparrows. 4 guys who served in the army together who now run Chicago. Lorna is Mason’s sister. Definitely an interesting story and the way the author told this story keep me reading. The story starts with the kidnapping of Lorna and another Sparrow wife. While Reid tries to find his wife we learn how they became husband and wife. We also learn about their individual lives growing up. Really enjoyed reading Lorna’s story. What a life. A good story and set up for the next book. Do not want to give to much of the story away. Not quite sure how I feel about the kidnapping plot. Hopefully the next book will give it more life. 4 star read for me.
Dusk is book one of the Dangerous Web trilogy by Aleatha Romig. It continues in Dark and ends in Dawn. It is a new dark romance set in the dangerous and mysterious world of Sparrow Webs. It is not necessary to read Web of Sin, Tangled Web, or Web of Desire to understand what is going on in the Dangerous Web Trilogy. ***Side-note*** These characters make appearances in previous books. While it is not necessary to read these books, I do think it would have enhanced the reading experience and would have given me a better understanding of the characters if I had read these books.
Lorna and Reid finally get their book! This book is filled with intrigue, mystery, and action. The story flips from the present to flashes from the past. It is a dark and twisted suspense-filled book. We are taken on a heart-stopping, jaw-dropping ride with a roller coaster of emotions. Secrets are revealed and pasts come back to haunt. In the end, who will come out ahead and/or alive? Only time will tell. There are sensitive subject matters so readers beware. This is the first book and does end in a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. Overall a good read but I missed more of the romantic aspect in this book. With that being said, I am anxious to see what happens next!
****ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.****
4.75 Stars!!!
As always, Romig took me on an emotional roller-coaster. I always know she’s going to keep me on the edge of my seat and this book did not disappoint. I fell in love with Reid and Lorna in the prequel to this book and have been not-so-patiently waiting for the publication of Dusk. Romig definitely delivered! I loved every minute of this book!!
