Being Navy SEALs was everything to new partners Shelby Ryder, a Kansas farm girl, and Earl Bernstein, a hypochondriac from big city Chicago. They completed their first mission successfully, but okay, in the process they accidentally blew up an F-16, wiped out a regiment of Cuban soldiers and caused an international incident. Despite the little hiccups, they were expecting a hero’s welcome, so … they were stunned when the unscrupulous administration in Washington duped, dumped and, worst of all, de-SEALed them.
The Navy always thought for them. Now they have to think for themselves. And that’s a scary thought.
They’re downhearted but not defeated. Despondent but not done. No, embers of the SEAL spirit still burn within them, and along with their de-SEALed commanding officer, eighty-five-year-old Bertha “Bull” Gompers, they set out to clear their names, be re-SEALed and prove to the world that they’re not zeros. They’re heroes.
In their minds anyway.

ONE GUT CRAMPING ADVENTURE!!!
Talk about rolling on the floor. This is one exciting, hilarious, gut cramping, cheeks hurting, jaw droping, page turning dynamo that grabs your attention and your funny bone from the start. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, a few glitches and bumps make for one enjoyable experience. The characters and their personalities are realistic, well developed and believable. The scenes are so graphically detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another in perfect balance. Gregg did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Gregg, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Dupes-A-Navy is Gregg Bell’s fun-filled follow-up to Oops-A-Navy, a laugh – a – minute, 3 Stooges account of a Seal mission gone bad. Where the first hilarious romp through Cuba left off, the same heroes, Shelby Ryder, Earl Bernstein and Rear Admiral “Bull” Gompers return to Cuba to clear their names. Even though they had done everything the Navy trained them to do as Seals, they did conduct the raid to rescue Senator Canfield from the communists in Cuba with a little too much violence. A massacre of Cubans, as the media called it, and Bull’s blowing up an F-16 had them in front of the prosecutor for their court martial. Not only were they found guilty but they had to face the ultimate disgrace, de-SEALment! Sitting at Denny’s, eating their Grand Slams, they tried to figure out what to do with their future. Slinging burgers in Kansas? Milking cows at Shelby’s Uncle Elmer’s farm? No! Their training would make them perfect mercenaries with the goal of making money to return to Cuba and clear their names. With nutty schemes, dealing with commies and living among drugs dealers, every step they take is filled with more laughter and groans! Gregg has sarcastic wit nailed down with something clever on every page. This sequel is as much of a treat as the original!
I received this as an ARC book, but I am not obligated to post a review for this book and the opinions expressed are my own.
How can three people get into so much mischief? The story of Ryder, Bernstein and Gompers continue. Here we go again with these three. Their mission is different this time, but no less crazy. Their actions and adventures introduce us to a few new characters and as always, Earl is continuing his poetic endeavor. They always keep falling into their own messes, but surprisingly, someone is always there to help them out. Read for a change of pace and a lot of idiotic nonsense.
The three hapless (and hopeless) Navy Seals, now ex-seals, manage to get themselves into even more ridiculous and hilarious scrapes. In this book they try and clear their names after they caused an international incident on Cuba, by going to Cuba, which was never going to end well. They survive brainwashing drugs, being arrested and thrown in jail, Cuban drug lords and Russian pirates, not to mention smuggling three people out of Cuba in coffins.
Once again Gregg Bell has thrown these three unlikely characters together in a laugh out loud parody of the serious Navy Seal thriller, and rest assured, the last thing this book is, is serious.
The characters are so well-drawn, yet so impossibly ridiculous, which is a very clever piece of writing. The author’s sense of the ridiculous allows him to turn every situation into something completely ridiculous and funny, so that even a ‘torture’ scene is made very amusing.
This book is definitely not for someone who wants to read a realistic tale of adventure or who doesn’t have a sense of humour, but if you like comedy then this is a great read.
I received an advance copy from the author but have voluntarily reviewed it.
Dupes-A-Navy is the second book in the Navy SEAL Misadventure Series. The SEALs from the first book have been de-SEALed for their first adventures in Cuba and are stuck with no money and no plans. They decide to go back to Cuba to get evidence that they had been framed and made scapegoats to cover up a drug ring run by a U.S. Senator and some powerful Cubans. The book is hilarious. Even though it is a satirical account of one of our country’s elite fighting forces, it seems more plausible than the first book. The characters were a little over the top and quite quirky. They seemed better equipped, mentally, for this adventure. The action seem well scripted and a little, believable.[maybe?] The book flowed easily and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to the next book in the series. Good Job Mr. Bell.
