Fantastic Love Story!
This is a fantastic story about heartbreak and finding love in unexpected places and between unexpected individuals. The story was fast paced, action packed and full of suspense. Also lots of steamy romance between two amazing characters.
Tuvari and Synika are not from the same race but find their way to each other though an unexpected situation. Their interactions are intense and witty. Synika is a very strong female who fights for what she believes in and cannot be held down. Tuvari is a very strong alien male and soldier who new right from the start that Synika was his mate and future. He would do anything to protect her and make her happy. Their story kept me fully enraptured and fully entertained.
Favorite Quote: “Falling in love is like a beautiful shooting star, he whispered softly. As it bursts across the sky in defiant radiance. If you want to catch it, you have to be prepared to receive a burn from its fiery heat, but if you can manage to hold onto it and keep it close to your heart, you will always live within its pure light and loving embrace.” SO BEAUTIFUL
Fantastic writing and world building. I can’t wait to see how the story continues to develop.
I absolutely loved this book! Synika is a strong, human woman that’s been hiding from the aliens that invaded earth over 100 years ago. They came to earth to searching for fertile females because their planet was dying out, due to their females being infertile. Synika is selected for a Dungari prince’s harem in what is called the Choosing Ceremony. Tuvari is a loyal royal soldier and learns that Synika is his mate. Synika and Tuvari face many trials and tribulations, will love be enough to see them through? This story was unique, compelling, imaginative, and unlike any I’ve read before, it’s a definite must read.
In a world of enmity, fear and suspicion, not every Dungari is the enemy.
This is a complex and powerful story of love and hatred, desire and repulsion, truth and deceit that are inextricably interwoven. As layers of deception are uncovered and characters learn truths about themselves and others, the reader is steadily drawn deeper into the story.
Action, danger, and desire combine to deliver a story that is thrilling in every sense of the word.
While this is a cleverly crafted dystopian/post-apocalyptic story, it also carries an important message against bullying, exploitation and abuse that is most appropriate to the world we live in today. As ‘Dungari Rise’ contains erotica and some quite graphic violence, it is suitable for adult audiences only.
Okay, I have to admit Sci-Fi Alien Romance is not my usual reading genre. But since I found this amazing new to me author and I’ve loved everything I’ve read of hers so far, I figured I’d give this book a chance. I am so glad I did. It’s well written, with amazing characters and a story line full of danger, suspense, drama, revenge, passion and twists that had me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
100 years ago the Dunari had invaded Earth and managed to take over without killing a single soul. No one knew how that was possible. The only stipulation they had was to hold a Choosing once a year consisting of all females over 18years old.
Synika was hidden by her brother when she was eight years old by order of her parents, never to see them again. Her parents had started a revolution against the Dungari and her brother lead it.
Tuvari works for the Dungari Bureau of Human Affairs. He’s a soldier and a warrior with a reputation, determined to keep hi race from extinction. Their females were no longer able to breed and if they did the babies died.
Nikki Landis had created a world of intense beauty and cruelty with characters filled with both love, dedication, and devotion or narcistic cruelty. Either way, while reading this storyline that has a plot which flows easily, you will be drawn in and have an unavoidable reaction one way or another. What a great book

Dungari Rise by Nikki Landis is the first book in a new series that features Synika, a strong defiant earth girl and Tuvari, an alien from the Dungari Race.
This story is brutal, though believable in a world that is faced with fear and suspicion.
It is a tale of love and hate, truth and deceit, and has action, danger, is full of unpredictable twists and has some dark aspects to it.
The characters are interesting and well defined and the story focuses on the relationship between the two main protagonists, Synika and Tuvari, and the trials and difficulties they go through just to be together.
There is some graphic violence and erotica and is a book best suited for adult readers.
An enjoyable book to read.
This is a well crafted sci-fi romance, so deserving of my five star rating. Tuvari is a Dungari warrior of virtue and honor. A most impressive hero and worthy mate to Synika. The storyline is page turning drama entwined with the sweet romance between Synika and Tuvari. I am so happy to have read this book. I loved it!

Sometimes there is so much darkness, it is hard to find the light.
This is one of those books, that has incredibly dark and trigger themes including rape, suicide, and a forced harem.
This is a good book, but is an emotionally heavy read.
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased , honest review.
This was a very steamy and engaging sci-fi romance. I enjoyed the plot and liked the characters. I liked their chemistry and the push-pull of their relationship. A fun and entertaining read. This is my totally truthful and completely voluntary review.

My review:-
Dungari Rise, written by Nikki Landis.
Another fantastic read, by the talented author Nikki Landis.
We follow the story of Synika, kept in hiding since she was a child, to protect her from the blue race of aliens and from the harsh reality of slavery and breeding – ‘The Choosing’. Enslaving young women and forcing them to endure the Choosing. Females of the planet earth, once selected soon find themselves never to return to their loved ones. Sometimes death is better than being a sexual slave.
Tuvari is a soldier who always completes his mission; honour and bravery his highest calling. Nearing his term as a loyal royal soldier, Tuvari soon learns, Synika is not just any slave. She is his mate. To protect Synika, Tuvari must overcome several obstacles to gain her trust and freedom and also their lives.
Fantastic book, cannot wait for the next book. Download and read Dungari Rise, today.
Fantastic read, by a talented author
This is a full-length well-written alien romance about an alien who finds a earth mate. A little warning as some parts of story relating to some of the aliens’ treatment of earth woman can be disturbing and this is definitely steamy enough to be adult-rated. The love story between two main characters is sweet although they have to overcome a lot of difficulties to be together. The author has created a complex interesting world and interesting characters. A recommended enjoyable read.
Generally speaking, I’m not usually fond of paranormal and sci-fi books but I thought I’d give this one a go anyway.
I’m so glad I did!
Tuvari is one of the Dungari people. His alien race has overtaken planet Earth in order to find “breeders” to help repopulate his home planet of Pilathna by way of the Choosing. The Choosing being an annual auction of sorts, where all able-bodied women over 18 years of age, are ogled and scrutinized before purchase.
Synika is a human who has been hidden by her brother, the head of the Spectors, a rebellion group determined to win back planet Earth from the Dungari. They have heard stories of the fate of women who are swept up in the Choosing. Used, abused, and simply discarded. Humans are an inferior race. The Dungari only need human females to reproduce, and to have a little fun with along the way.
Synika is well protected until Tuvari is captured and brought into the Spector underground headquarters. Synika is injured but Tuvari is quick to come to her aid. He sweeps her under his wing to protect her. Their attraction is instant, but can their romance blossom when Synika continues to find Tuvari lying to her? He says it is to protect her but could it also be for his own selfish reasons? Does he simply want to remain a hero in her eyes? Can their love outlast the war between their worlds?
Author Nikki Landis builds tension and continues to reveal secrets throughout the story. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, you discover another nugget of truth you just didn’t see coming. I wish Nikki had done a little more in the explanation of the Dungari anatomy. It seems the only difference between them and humans is their blue skin. Also, I feel like this could have been a series. There were secondary characters who interacted with Tuvari and Synika who added to the story but I feel like it could have been broken up a bit and expanded. Overall, this story shows how love can build bridges and overcome more than you ever thought possible.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I wasn’t sure if this was going to be another one of those ‘taken by the hot alien’ type reads. Whilst there is nothing wrong with those books, indeed I’ve read and enjoyed many of them, this had more depth and a story line beyond the romance. In fact, as much as I love it, the cover does not do the book justice.
On the surface this is the story of Synika, a human female, and Tuvari, a Dungari male. However it is also about the atrocious treatment of human females by the Dungari, desperate to find females with whom they can reproduce. Most humans aren’t aware of the true implications of ‘The Choosing’ and the horrific fate that awaits some of the young girls involved. I wouldn’t describe it as a dark read, since Tuvari is a kind and gentle hero, not a twisted anti-hero. However it does cover some very dark topics, though not in graphic detail.
The story had excellent pace, with some very good plot twists. I found the style of writing really easy to read and was quickly drawn into the story, reading it in almost one sitting. I really enjoyed the book and am hoping this is the first book in a series as there are some very interesting characters and situations I’d love to see explored further. Not only did we meet Synika and Tuvari, but I’d love to see more of Izzy, Cynthia, Holnar, Yuri and Bimi.
I was completely blown away by this book and couldn’t put it down. We’re given the perfect blend of sci-fi, paranormal and erotica. Tuvalu is not like the other Dungari, he’s forceful yet caring and looks out for the human woman that are taken against their will. Synika is tough as nails and I think she’s an incredible heroine. Throughout the story we’re gliding through both heart wrenching moments followed by ones of absolute love. This is a great paranormal YA romance that will keep you on your toes and holding your breath. The epilogue has left me with the biggest smile on my face, I can’t wait to read more from this author. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
I absolutely love paranormal Sci-Fi stories, and Dungari Rise has definitely been added to my keeper list. Nikki Landis has written an engrossing, suspenseful, action packed book that is quite simply a page turner.
The book begins many years after the Earth has lost a war to the alien race, Dungari. The Dungari chose Earth due to Human women being compatible for breeding. An auction has been established called ‘The Choosing’ once a year for all acceptable women 18 and older to be sold.
The love story of the human girl, Synika, and the Dungari guard, Tuvari, is filled with tribulations and traumas before they can have their happiness. This book does have triggers, however, I highly recommend it. I do hope that there will be more of the Dungari in the future.
