NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chang Chen, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.Frank Herbert’s classic masterpiece—a triumph of the imagination and one of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time.Set on … the bestselling science fiction novels of all time.
Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, heir to a noble family tasked with ruling an inhospitable world where the only thing of value is the “spice” melange, a drug capable of extending life and enhancing consciousness. Coveted across the known universe, melange is a prize worth killing for….
When House Atreides is betrayed, the destruction of Paul’s family will set the boy on a journey toward a destiny greater than he could ever have imagined. And as he evolves into the mysterious man known as Muad’Dib, he will bring to fruition humankind’s most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

A parable for ethical interaction in any time/ place.
What can you say about Dune? A fabulous book that was made into the worst movie ever because this book just cannot be put into film. It has so many dimensions that you must read it to understand.
Best book
What more is there to say about Dune that others haven’t already said? You’ve either read it, or you’ve heard of it, whether the original or the film adaptations (none of which can possibly do justice to a primarily cerebral book as this). It’s an excellent book, and the start of an excellent series.
The best sci-fi ever!
All-time favorite
Seminal piece of speculative fiction. The universe he built is amazing in its depth and detail.
One of the best Sci-Fi masterpieces ever. Do not be mislead by the terrible movie.
Good Sci Fi set in a setting that was alien for me as I have no experience in the desert. Good characters and action packed. Good read.
I read this many years ago and enjoyed rereading it. The images where still clear in my mind.
I HIGHLY recommend that you read the entire Dune series in chronological order. EPIC
I have read this book four times!
There’s a reason people refer to this story as a classic. It has some of the most original and richly developed world building of any novel out there. In a word, timeless.
You need your thinking cap on for this intriguing read. It never disappoints.
I read this book many (many, many) years ago prior to the movie. Loved it then and couldn’t wait to read it again!
Great Sci-fi story!
This is a book you’ll get out once a year and read over and over. Great story and so well told
This is a classic for a reason. I love how Herbert works in commentary on the state of civilization at the beginning of each chapter. Helps you get caught up on the backstory without a lot of exposition. Fascinating look at corporate/oligarchy at its worst. The whole idea that fear is what kills everything of value had me from the beginning.
I have read this book and several others in the series at least 4 times and each time I do, I find something that I hadn’t seen before. This is probably my favorite science fiction series. I have all of the hardback books in this series and was thrilled to find it in the Kindle version. Now I can have it with me wherever I go.
Frank Herbert created not just a different world, he fabricated an entire universe. This series has turns and twists that cannot possibly be anticipated. If you saw the movie and were not impressed, read the book. It is infinitely better.
It’s a science fiction classic for a reason…
