Shelli Adler has known what she wanted since she was eleven years old.Aiden Brooks. But Aiden has always had other ideas. After spending the early years of his life without his dad, hockey legend Lucas Brooks, Aiden is determined not to settle for anything less than true love. When he’s ready. Now he’s living the fast life of an NHL bachelor. He won’t give his heart to any one girl, but they can … girl, but they can have his body—all night long.
The party to celebrate the start of the second half of the season was supposed to be no different from any other night. And when a stunning stranger approaches him, he can’t seem to keep his hands off her.
The next morning, she’s gone, and he’s been traded to his dad’s former team, the Nashville Assassins. All of his professional dreams are coming true, but he can’t shake the memory of the girl from that last party. He wants to see her again. Though, after moving across the country—and without knowing her name—that dream seems like a puck destined to miss the net.
For Shelli, her night with Aiden was everything she’d ever imagined it could be, and she’s sure it is all about to change for them. But for that to happen…he would have to know who she was.
The Dump was only the beginning. The Chase is worth waiting a lifetime for.

This. This is the story I have been wanting since we first met Aiden Brooks as a 6 year old.
And Dump and Chase did not disappoint.
I am a big, big fan of the Assassins series, and I am glad we are getting to see a little more of them as this new series starts.
I adore Shelli, She is plenty strong and goes after what she wants, however she is not afraid to show her vulnerabilities.
Aiden, Aiden, Aiden. I love him. I hate him. I can’t help but love to hate him at times. He frustrated the crap out of me, I wanted to nut punch him more than once ( I really am feeling violent this week lol)
I laughed, I cried, I (mentally) threw my Kindle at Aiden’s head at times lol. I did love getting into his head and figuring out, along with him, why he acts the way he does at times.
This is a great way to get back into Assassins world, and I am really, really looking forward to seeing where Next Generations takes us.
This was enjoyable. I loved the storyline and the characters . Shelli has had a crush on Aiden since she was a kid. Those feelings never went away. But once they get the chance to see if there is something between them will his fear tear them apart? Shelli and Aiden are amazing together. I loved the chemistry and how good they are for each other. I loved being able to see just what Aiden is feeling and how he can’t handle things well. Love the conversations that he has with his brother. A great book great storyline great characters.
Absolutely loved this book!!! If you have not followed Toni Aleo’s Assassins series, then you may not be as excited as I am to see Aiden and Shelli in this story. Their parents were introduced in the first books Trying to Score and Taking Shots. We have watched Aiden Brooks grow up and he has followed his fathers steps as a formidable hockey player with a sick wrist shot. Shelli Adler grew up with a crush on Aiden and she ended up following her dream to sing on Broadway. As luck would have it, they would end up back in Nashville. Aiden has a big family and they all have a part in his life. His relationship with his brother Asher is especially funny and I really loved how we got to see how Aiden, who was hesitant at being in a relationship, was able to talk with Asher to see how relationships work. This book has family drama, fun, hockey antics, and the journey of a childhood dream to play for your favorite hockey team! This was definitely a big win for me!!!!
5 star Review Dump & Chase by Toni Aleo
I am relatively new to Toni Aleo so I thought this was a good opportunity to make a start since it is book one in her new series Nashville Assassins: Next Generation and is Aiden Brooks and Shelli Adler’s story.
Shelli has wanted Aiden for as long as she can remember but Aiden is fixated on living the high life as an NHL player both on and off the rink, determined to succeed professionally before he finds the woman he wants to settle down with.
A one night stand with a mysterious woman leaves him wanting more but he has no name or a way to find her. Shelli knows that what transpired between her and Aiden could be the start of something big, but since he doesn’t have a clue who she is it may be rather difficult.
When Aiden is traded to his father’s old team he firmly believes that he is on the rise and his professional dreams are about to become a reality. Now all he needs is to find his mystery woman.
I thoroughly enjoyed Toni Aleo’s style of writing and Dump & Chase was an entertaining story which hooked me from the start and did not let me go until the end.

I have really loved Toni Aleo Assassins Series from the very beginning. Taking Shots was my favorite of the whole series, because I loved Shea and Elli Adler and I still do.
So when I heard Toni was writing the next generation from the Assassins series, I was beyond thrilled. Finding out the Dump & Chase is about Shea and Elli’s daughter Shelli and Lucas and Fallon’s son Aiden…I just knew I had to read this book.
I found this story just as entertaining as the original series. I loved being back in this world. Toni has an amazing ability when it comes to writing sports romances. She gives us the perfect blend of humor, romance, drama and love all mixed up with the perfect amount of Hockey jargon. Whenever you pick up a book from Toni it’s like coming home.
Dump & Chase is the first book in Toni’s spin off series….Nashville Assassins : The Next Generation. Each book is a standalone novel and you don’t have to read the original series to understand this story. Toni does a fantastic job fill in the holes and gaps that need to be filled between the two series. Although after reading this book you will want to go back and start from the beginning!!! Her books are that good!!! This book is told in Dual POV. I thought the flow was well written but I have to be honest and say that I thought the pace was on the slow side….at least for my taste. I like things to move along a little quicker.
In this book we follow Aiden Brooks and Shelli Adler. Aiden is playing hockey in the NHL with the Rangers in New York and has been kind of a wild card and player when it comes to women. He has some issues with commitment. Shelli is an actress on Broadway, but has decided she is done with that and wants to go back home to Nashville. So the night before she leaves she goes to a party, with a friend of hers, at Aiden’s place. She is excited because Shelli has been secretly in love with Aiden since she was 11 years old. She couldn’t have expected what happened to happen…not going to spoil it for everyone 😉 The next morning Shelli leaves to go home to Nashville, but little does she know that Aiden was just traded to the Nashville Assassins….he is headed home too. Can these two find their HEA?? Read this story to find out how it all works out.
I really liked Shelli’s character. She was so much like her mother. She is determined, strong and sassy. Although I do have to say her stubbornness started to get on my nerves by the end of the story. I get why she was stubborn and her insecurities, but I wanted to yell at her to get over it. Aiden was a little tougher for me to like in the beginning. I didn’t like his playboy ways and his cavalier attitude. I get he was a commitment phobe, but he just wouldn’t get over it. Even when everyone told him what his issues were, he just wouldn’t except them. I did end up falling for him, but no one can take the place of Shea in my heart 🙂
I LOVED seeing the older Assassins in this book. Seeing Shea, Elli, Lucas and Fallon all grown up and as parents of older kids was fun to watch. It was definitely fun catching up with this group again.
If you are new to this series or have been reading this series from the beginning, you will want to read Dump & Chase. Toni Aleo did a wonderful job bringing in the next generation of Assassin players and the women who tame them. Definitely read this book if you are a fan of sports romances!!!
I love the Assassins series and now we get the Next Generation and I’m so happy. Reading Aiden and Shelli’s story was alot of fun. I’m happy we got his thoughts which at times made me laugh out loud. I didn’t expect it to be quite do emotional. Looking back at how Lucas and Fallon had affected his view of love and relationships hurt because it hurt them as parents. Shelli is definitely her mother’s daughter she’s just as fierce and determined. I laughed,I cried and I swooned which is what I hope the author intended.
Reading this has made me want to go back and read where it all started again.
BEWARE SPOILERS AHEAD
Dump & Chase is again, one of Toni’s best books, in my opinion. You get to see the children you practically saw/read being raised through the other books, fall in love. Not only that, but I found myself falling in love with Shea and Lucas even more than I already was. Trying to Score (Lucas and Fallon) has always been my favorite book in the series, but this has become one of my tops as well. Toni brings you through the trials and tribulations that Aiden and Shelli need to go through to grow into amazing people. Such as how Lucas and Fallon’s relationship troubles affected Aiden’s ability to love, Shelli’s need to learn how to think of others and put her pride to the side, and even Elli and Fallon’s need to give their children some space to grow on their own. It’s an amazing book that I know I will find myself reading again.
The Assassin’s series has been going on for a long while. It’s been a great time and I always look forward to the next book that comes out. However, due to the length of time they’ve been coming out, you can tend to forget stories and people if they aren’t featured in future stories. This story was new, but also a good look back at the first two stories in the series. You get to see Shea and Lucas along with each of their families and how they have grown through the years. It’s an amazing gift that Toni has given to us. Not only is it a gift, but it’s a gift that keeps giving. Knowing that there is a future series of the second generation of assassin’s is ridiculously exciting.
Can’t wait for whatever comes next!
I loved The Assassins from the minute I started reading Taking Shots. Toni Aleo creates a world full of love and hockey. Two of the greatest things a girl can ask for.
Shea and Elli started it all way back in Taking Shots. With their love, came Shelli Adler. A smart, talented, fierce, beautiful woman, much like her mother. After a few years of headlining shows on Broadway, Shelli decides it is time to return home to Nashville and figure out what comes next for her. But not without one last party at the home of her longtime crush, the one and only Aiden Brooks. The problem is Aiden has never noticed Shelli…until tonight. Who doesn’t notice #SlapshotShelli ?!
After Shea and Elli, there was Fallon and Lucas along with their son Aiden. I knew I would love Aiden Brooks way back when he was fighting hippogriffs. Fast forward about 20 years and let me just say DAMN!! That boy is ALLLL grown up now! After a night of sparks (& clothing) flying with a stunning stranger, he finds out his lifelong dream of playing for The Assassins has finally come true. He’s been traded and is heading home to play for His team! But his mind keeps going back to the girl from last night.
The connection between these two will light your pages on fire. They are HOT! This book is full of twists and turns, up and downs, and some of the best one liners that I’ve ever read! They will make you LOL, literally. On top of all that, some familiar faces that we know and love make an appearance! *swoon!*
I say it every time, bit I think this is Toni’s best book yet! Stanley Cup material right here! I am so excited for this next generation of Assassins! I can’t wait to read what comes next!!!
There’s just something about a Toni Aleo book that draws you in. Add to it that I have been dying for Aiden and Shelli’s story and I was completely hooked from that first page till the end. This book started with a bang and never stopped, getting better with each page turn. The Adler and Brooks families are literally cray-cray and I don’t think I laughed so hard at their antics. It was a nice surprise to see all the Assassins but I mean it’s a given with this close knit family. I got to swoon all over again for those unforgettable characters.
Toni brought her A-game with this story giving you all the feels and a perfect love story to melt your heart. I loved seeing Aiden grow into a man and Shelli with such confidence and grace. These two have been skirting around each other even if they didn’t know it and their love has just been blooming for years. Their HEA was perfection and Toni couldn’t have wrote it any better.
For those of us who have been reading Toni Aleo’s Assassins series from the beginning, this is a book that you are going to instantly love and for those who might be picking her book up for the first time, you’ll get to know some of Toni’s most loved characters in the Adler and Brooks families.
Dump and Chase is the story of Shea and Elli Adler’s oldest daughter, Shelli, and Lucas and Fallon Brooks’ eldest son, Aiden. Shelli has been crushing on Aiden since she was eleven years old and as she’s gotten older her feelings haven’t waned in the least. The only problem is Aiden didn’t pay her any mind back in the day. She wanted him to really see her and he never did. Now though, it may be a very different story after they meet up at a party in New York and hook up. The only thing is once again he doesn’t really see her. He doesn’t even recognize her.
Shelli has decided she’s ready to leave Broadway and so she’s made the decision to head back home to Nashville and after the party she’s even happier to be heading that way. As irony would have it, Aiden has been traded to his hometown hockey team, the Assassins, which has always been his dream and now it’s coming true.
With the two of them back in the same town, it’s inevitable their paths are going to cross again and as they are around one another more and more, you can see that there is definitely a connection between them. With many ups and downs, misunderstandings and some unwanted, and unsolicited advice from their families, these two attempt to figure out if there is something between them. With sparks flying it’s hard to believe there isn’t!
I absolutely loved this book and all of the people in it. It was great to see our favorites from the original Assassins series and Shelli has grown up to be a strong, fierce woman and Aiden has become the hockey player he wanted to be and he’s working on becoming the man he wants to be. I’m excited to see where this next generation takes us in this series!
One sitting…that’s all it took for me to fall in love all over again with the Adler and Brooks clans.
Shelli’s spitfire spirit from Juicy Rebound had me wanting more of her and Toni did not disappoint at all as Dump & Chase takes you from then and now with the next generation.
Shelli has grown into a strong, fierce and loving woman. She’s every bit her momma and just as beautiful. Shelli has know she’s loved Aiden since she was 11 and what Shelli wants, Shelli gets!
Aiden is lost and is just ready to get back to his roots. Never in a million years did he believe that Shelli Adler would be the one to show him what he truly wanted out of life.
As theirs lives begin intertwining again, Shelli pushes Aiden out of his comfort zone and this freaks Aiden out!
It’s gonna take a whole lot of patience and forgiveness on Shelli’s part for Aiden to truly see what has been in front of him his whole life.
Get ready to laugh, get anger and cry…you’re in for one heck of a Chase!!!
O! M! G!!!! I freaking loved this story.
I have been a fan of Toni Aleo’s Assassin’s as well as ALL the side stories from the very first book. I cannot tell you how many times I have listened (Audible) to the whole series. I FLOVE this series that much.
Now, reading about the next generation of Assassins…..SIGH!!!
Shelli Adler is the eldest daughter of Shea Adler and Elli Fisher from the first book of the Assassins Series, Taking Shots. Aiden Brooks is the son of Lucas Brooks and Fallon Parker from book 2, Trying to Score. Shelli has been in love with Aiden Brooks since she was 11 years old. Her only problem, Aiden does not see her the same way. But, when she gets to go to a party that Aiden is hosting, and they hook up. Shelli is in 7th heaven. She knows that Aiden has finally seen her, Shelli Adler. Well, that was until Aiden asks what…. Sorry ladies, no spoilers. Shelli is heartbroken, and she is done with New York and is moving back home to Nashville.
Aiden is following in his father’s hockey footsteps and had become a darn fine player playing for the New York Rangers. However, his dream is to move home and play for the team his father Lucas Brooks played for, the Nashville Assassins. Then, the day after the party where he met “Grace”, man, he can’t stop thinking about her… He gets the call, he has been traded to the Assassins….
Oh, I forgot to mention Shelli’s full name, Shelli Grace Adler…
I LOVED watching Shelli turn Aiden for a total 180 regarding relationships, and the “L-word”. You see, Aiden is a MAJOR commitment-phobe!!! I love Aiden James Brooks to death, but I wanted to smack him upside his head SOOOOOO many times. I understand his feelings, but I still wanted to smack him. He was hurting Shelli!!!! Ladies, to better understand why he has his hang ups, you really should read his parents book, Trying to Score.
It was absolutely wonderful reading about some of the characters from past books. I miss some of them so very much. Darn, I think I need to go back and listen to the whole series again….
Thank you for reading my review. I was gifted with an early digital copy of this wonderful book, but I cannot wait to get my hands on the paperback I bought so I can reread this wonderful book. Kudos Ms. Aleo, in my opinion, you have a winner with this book!!!
Shelli Adler & Aiden Brooks are two people we watched grow up in Toni Aleo’s Assassins Series but now we are seeing them all grown up and navigating through their own lives with a lot of laughs, tears, memories and a little meddling by their parents.
Shelli has always crushed, lusted and even probably loved Aiden her whole life. She’s living her dream staring on Broadway but it’s time to come home. Aiden Brooks has also been living his dream he has always envisioned playing in the NHL but when he gets traded to Nashville it’s what he has always wanted.
Shelli & Aiden meet again by circumstance and you can’t help see the connection that was always there even though only one sees it. You will see them go through some bumpy ups and downs and listen to a lot of advice from their families but what you want them to find is that HEA.
I have loved this series from the moment we met Ellie & Shea even Lucas & Fallon but this new generation of The Assassins will have you falling all over again.
