Shelli Adler has known what she wanted since she was eleven years old.Aiden Brooks. But Aiden has always had other ideas. After spending the early years of his life without his dad, hockey legend Lucas Brooks, Aiden is determined not to settle for anything less than true love. When he’s ready. Now he’s living the fast life of an NHL bachelor. He won’t give his heart to any one girl, but they can … girl, but they can have his body—all night long.
The party to celebrate the start of the second half of the season was supposed to be no different from any other night. And when a stunning stranger approaches him, he can’t seem to keep his hands off her.
The next morning, she’s gone, and he’s been traded to his dad’s former team, the Nashville Assassins. All of his professional dreams are coming true, but he can’t shake the memory of the girl from that last party. He wants to see her again. Though, after moving across the country—and without knowing her name—that dream seems like a puck destined to miss the net.
For Shelli, her night with Aiden was everything she’d ever imagined it could be, and she’s sure it is all about to change for them. But for that to happen…he would have to know who she was.
The Dump was only the beginning. The Chase is worth waiting a lifetime for.

I am so happy to be back in this world and to begin the Assassins Next Gen series. And what a way to kick it off! Toni Aleo does not dissapoint, in fact this story is everything I hoped for and more! I honestly love Shelli! It is fun seeing her all grown up now! She is the absolute perfect blend of her parents, Shea and Elli Adler. I love her fire, sass and determination!! She is quite the amazing and talented young woman! Despite the fact that I end up hopelessly adoring Aiden Brooks, this book starts out with him in full on man-whore mode, and boy did I want to dump him on his head!! Luckily he redeems himself and more by how much he wants to be better than that and be the man Shelli deserves.
Even though he literally held her when she was a baby, for as long as Shelli can remember she has been in love with Aiden. When their lives end up mingling again now that she is old enough, will she be able to get him to really see her? The Chase is on towards her HEA and let me tell you it’s one heck of a ride! So much goodness in this book and boy did I miss Shea! I love him and Elli in parent mode! I also love getting Lucas and Fallon in parent mode as well.
This book is just fantastic!
How to say I love you.
Shelli has loved Aidren forever, but Aiden is afraid to commit. He saw the pain his parents went through, but if you really love someone you take a chance. Less about hockey, more about love. Great to revisit their families. Absolutely a good read!
Read Taking Shots first to read about Shelli’s parents. One of my favorites in the series.
Move over Shea Adler.. there is a new favorite in town! I have been dying for this story since we met adult Shelli and boy did it not disappoint. I loved every second of this book and I couldn’t put it down until I finished. I laughed, I cried and I loved every second of it.
Aiden and Shelli might be my favorite new Assassins couple, but honestly I feel like I say that with each new book. There was something about these two that I just can’t help but love. Maybe it’s the fact they’ve known each their whole lives or maybe it’s the fact that Shelli is amazing. Her love for Aiden is fierce and she knew what she wanted… Always has!
I can’t wait to see who is our next Assassin, so I can love them too
Dump and Chase is first story about the next generation of the Nashville Assassins. I’m so excited to have a new series to read, about the grown up broods, from my favorite couples. This is Aidan and Shelli’s story. Shelli is the oldest daughter of Shea and Elli Adler, and Aidan is the son of Lucas and Fallon Brooks. Shelli has had a huge crush on Aidan since she was a little girl. She grew up with him being around since their families are entwined, and he’s always treated her like he does his siblings. I liked how the story developed, it has hockey, jocks, and family. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Having read about Shelli and Aiden from the beginning of the Assassins series, I was so excited to finally get their story! Dump and Chase is the first book in the Assassins Next Gen series, which I’m super stoked about. We finally get all the Assassin’s kids as grown ups. Aiden gets traded to his dream team, the Nashville Assassins. Shelli has been living her dream on Broadway, but she’s ready to go home. I loved these two together, and I enjoyed getting back to their families. I definitely can’t wait for the next book in this new series.
It’s here!! Shelli and Aiden’s story is finally here!!! I’ve been dying to know how Toni was going to write their story ever since Shelli had a crush on Aiden. As always, she exceeded my expectations. If you’ve read the prior book, you know the Brooks and Adler family are super close. Fallon and Elli are besties, well the whole old team is really close. Shelli has always been in love with Aiden for as long as she can remember. She’s idolized him, wanted to marry him and as she grew older, she only knew how to hide her crush on him better.
Shelli loves hard and with everything she has. She takes strong, vulnerable and badass. Shelli is the perfect combination of her parents. Although she loves Aiden, she isn’t wasting her life away either. She’s living her life and just hoping that maybe one day he won’t be blind to her. Shelli knows what she wants and she goes after it, she’s a force to be reckoned with. I love how self-aware she is. It’s pretty awesome. Aiden, on the other hand, is a tad slow when it comes to his emotions. His fear of getting hurt paralyzes him emotionally, he never wants to be in pain the way his parents were before they got together.
As the story progresses Aiden has to figure out if love is worth the fear of getting hurt. If giving your all and being vulnerable is worth it. This couple had a lot of ups and downs, a lot to do with Aiden, actually. At times I just wanted to climb inside the book and slap him to wake up. Even with all of their ups and downs, it was perfect. They got to appreciate each other in a way they never would’ve before. I admire Shelli so much. She knows what’s she worth and she doesn’t bend. I admire how she forgives. She truly is her parent’s kid.
I really love how empathic Toni writes them. She makes them so relatable that you forget your reading a book. You feel what they feel, you laugh with #slapshotshelli , you hurt when they struggle. Toni is the master of pulling your heartstrings and this book is just more proof of that. If you’ve read the prior books, you’ll know all the characters are connected. Although you DONT need to read them in order to read this book, you should in order to obtain a better grasp. Toni created this huge and amazing hockey family. You get to see some of your favorite old characters in a mature matter. It really is a GREAT book. Don’t miss out on your next hockey romance!
I give this book a perfect five stars. It’s fantastic! I’m not sure how Toni can top this one but I’m excited for her to do so.
Dump and Chase is a MUST READ!!
If you have not read the entire Assassins Series start there and get caught up. One if the best things about Toni’s writing style is she creates a family atmosphere we all get caught up and feel a part of and it is full of love and happiness. It brings me joy reading about all my favorite characters kids. Shelli is amazing and she has the personality all of us want to have, Aiden is a little prickly but it doesn’t take to long to warm to his character and see that he will end up where he belongs with Shelli.
You will not want to put this book down.
Read 4/30/19
Dump and Chase was the first book in the Nashville Assassins: Next Generation series by Toni Aleo. I loved the original series and was ecstatic to start the legacy series.
Aiden Brooks was the son of Lucas and Fallon Brooks (book two, Nashville Assassins, Trying to Score). We met him as a child and watched him grow up through the years. He was now twenty seven, an NHL star and was just traded from New York to his father’s old team, the Assassins.
Shelli Adler was the eldest daughter to Ellie and Shea Adler (book one, Nashville Assassins, Taking Shots). She was twenty one and just returned to Nashville from a successful two years on Broadway. She was beautiful, sassy, smart and loved hockey as much as her parents.
Shelli crushed on Aiden as a child and it never dimmed. They grew up together but their paths hadn’t really crossed much since she was a child. Until now.
As expected from Aleo, it was well written, well developed, and filled with strong and lovable supporting characters. The storyline went a different direction then I expected. I enjoyed it but at times was frustrated with Aiden – however, it was written to be that way. We watched his journey with his struggles and he had to get through it to get to the other side.
It also set the stage for the rest of the series through great support characters. I’m not sure Aleo’s direction next, but there are so many great possibilities.
I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is book 1 in a new series about the Assassin Players kids. This is my second book by the author and I have never read any of the previous Assassin stories before. I found it easily stands alone and made me want to read those other stories.
This is the story about Hockey player Aiden whose father played on Shellis’ mothers hockey team. He throws a HUGE party and Shelli has always had a crush on him even if she is way younger than him. She convinces her friend to set her up with Aiden and the two have lots of sex but he has no idea who she is, he thinks she is a call girl.
She leaves and never gives him her real name as she is pretty heart broken and leaving town to go back home to her family. Meanwhile Aiden is traded and guess who ends up seeing each other again. The two end up meeting again and that was my favorite scene in the whole book when Aiden realizes who Shelli is.
This was a really fun story and while I did not like the beginning. I kinda was grossed out by the call girl/sex scene and that Aiden does not like to wear condoms. But don’t give up then because it get really better after that and I loved how Shelli makes Aiden work for it.
Another character I LOVED was Lucas Brooks as Aiden’s dad. He sees how Aiden treats Shelli and I loved how he calls him on it. He was my 2nd favorite character next to the two main characters.
Toni Aleo, the things you do to me!! Dump and Chase is the first book in the Nashville Assassins: Next Generation and what a start it was! This was the book I have been impatiently waiting for. I’m still reading the original series and I even knew I needed a Shelli and Aiden book. We have heard Shelli claim Aiden is the man she is meant to be with, but we never actually expect it to go anywhere. We’ve watched these two characters from the beginning of their parents’ romances and it has been one incredible journey to watch unfold.
Shelli is part of the Assassin dynasty. Her mother is the GM and her dad is none other then the famous Shea Adler! Aiden is also apart of this dynasty. His parents are former assassin Lucas and Fallon, a close friend of Elli’s. These two grew up together and Shelli always has had a crush on Aiden. We’ve watched Shelli go on a totally different path and come out still saying she is meant to be with Aiden.
This book was such an amazing read. There’s nothing quite like a Toni Aleo book, she draws you in and she keeps you hooked from start to finish. She plots like no other and leaves you completely satisfied every single book. I really enjoyed the journey with Shelli and Aiden and I can’t wait to see what journey Toni brings us all on next.
I highly recommend this book!
OMG! When I heard that Toni Aleo was giving us the next generation of the Nashville Assassins I was so freaking excited because this was one of my favorite series! The author definitely delivered everything that I adore about her stories in her newest release, Dump and Chase!
Who knew that Aiden Brooks and Shelli Adler’s story could blow both of their parents stories out of the water. I didn’t think it was possible for me to fall even more in love with these characters, but she managed to captivate me wholeheartedly all over again! This story was the perfect introduction to the next generation of the Nashville Assassins. I mean it’s only fitting that it would be the children of my favorite Toni Aleo couples of all time! There is so much I want to say about this story, but I am still at a loss for words because my heart is in overdrive.
I cannot freaking wait for the next book in this series because there are so many stories left to be told! Make sure to begin the journey of the next generation with Dump and Chase!
I was so excited when Aiden Brooks book came out and not only that, but Shelli Adler is the girl Toni picked for him. Dump and Chase is the Nashville Assassins: Next Generation series. I didn’t like at first how Aiden treated Shelli. Aiden is playing for the Rangers in NY, but his dream team is the Nashville Assassins. He would give anything to play on his dad old team. Then he gets the call from his agent what he has been waiting forever Elli Adler, the owner of the Assassins, is making a trade to get him. He’s going home to Tennessee. Shelli has just finished her show on Broadway and is reading to go home, but before she leaves she wants to make Aiden aware of her because has had a thing for him since she was 14. I just loved Shelli Adler because she is just as spunky and beautiful as her mom Elli. Aiden and Shelli finally get together or so Shelli thought. After a one night stand, in which Aiden had no idea it was Shelli, they both head back home to Nashville. A lot of twist and turns happens with the couple and add in both set of parents and siblings they eventually try to see if they are meant to be. It was so hilarious how Shea’s angina would kick in when they talk about Shelli’s sex life. Another awesome Assassins book, but don’t take my word. Give it a try!
Spanish & English Opinion – 4
ESP ::
ENG ::
A book with an original story and a very funny dialogue. The dynamics and expressions are real.
Shelli has the opportunity of being with her crush since childhood. Aiden gets really scared when emotions are involved so they love situations that could destroy the relationship.
Something really valuable was the way that the author managed the sexual dynamics from male and female characters. It was made with lots of respect, equality and realism.
Loved it
It’s been awhile since I have read one of this author’s books but I couldn’t resist the blurb for Dump & Chase having read both the stories of Shelli’s and Aiden’s parents previously.
Shelli has wanted Aiden for half her life, but being several years older, he has always just seen her as the kid he has known since she was born. They have both been making a name for themselves separately in New York and their paths haven’t crossed but that is about to change. Shelli has been following in her mom’s footsteps and killing it on Broadway but she is ready for something new, even if she isn’t quite sure what that may look like yet. Aiden is an NHL star who has been putting the man in manwhore but his dream has always been to play for his home team the Nashville Assassins. When she is presented with the opportunity to finally get Aiden to really see her, she thinks her dreams are about to come true. Unfortunately she soon realizes her mistake and things are about to get interesting as they both head home to Nashville.
When they are on, they are smokin’ and clearly right for each other! Getting there- well that’s a whole different story. These two characters alternated between frustrating the hell out of me and having me rooting for them to finally get it right. Aiden is not a bad guy, but when it comes to Shelli, he cannot seem to pull his head out of his butt. His parents didn’t provide the best example for him in his youngest years and that left him with an overwhelming fear of opening himself up to anyone who could inflict that much pain on him. Despite his eventual desire to make a relationship work with Shelli, he cannot express his feelings well and it leads to all kinds of drama. When it comes to Shelli, she is smart, funny and driven, but Aiden turns her into a madwoman at times. Years of hopes, dreams and expectations when it comes to finally winning his heart cause her to fly off the handle and overreact to every situation, and she lets her hurt feelings rule her actions more often than not. Add in two groups of well meaning but interfering family members and it’s no wonder Shelli and Aiden try to keep their budding relationship to themselves for as long as possible.
Despite the frustration level this story inspired in me, as many times as I had to put it down and walk away I found myself rushing back to pick up the story again to find out what was coming next. Aiden had some absolutely swoony moments that melted me right along with Shelli and put a smile on my face. Once my heart recovers from this one, I am looking forward to moving on to Posey’s story!
4.5 stars
Dump & Chase was an awesome start to the next generation of Nashville Assassins! It started out with one amazing and unforgettable hookup that was hot as hell and did not let up throughout the entire story.
I absolutely loved Shelli! Such a kick-ass and take names kind of person. She did what she wanted, whom she wanted and never apologized once for it. A lot of times during a story, the heroine changes in someway….but not Shelli. Such a sassy and strong woman and I adored her for always staying true to who she was. Did I think she was a little too forgiving with Aiden at times? Heck yes, I did. But if I was getting the chance to be with my childhood crush who I had loved for years, I can’t say I would have acted any different.
And Aiden…..oh Aiden. I just wanted to shake that boy silly sometimes. From not recognizing Shelli in the beginning to all his comments that he made without truly thinking about it – he shot himself in the foot so many times. He obviously was extremely attracted to Shelli, but learning about his family history, how things were when he was a child with his mom & dad…..things started to make more sense about his aversion to love and relationships. But I will say, he totally made up for it all in the end.
I can’t finish this up without talking about their families – oh. my. goodness. This crazy mix of the Adler and Brooks families just cracked me up. They are wild and insane, and get on each other’s nerves; but you can also just see the love they all have for one another.
Shelli & Aiden’s romance is one that will make you laugh, cry, get angry, and most of all swoon! Can’t wait to see what’s up next for our new generation of Assassins!
Wow, I just love these books from Toni! Each one gets better and better! 5 cool hockey pucks for this one!
Meet Shelli Adler, first born for Elli & Shea! She’s had enough of Broadway, she needs a break and decides to head home. But not before she goes to a party hosted by her one and only crush Aiden Brooks, whom she has loved for what seems forever. When he comes up to her at the party, and takes her back to his room, it’s like a dream come true, until the next morning….
Aiden has struggled, after being accused a year ago of beating a woman, he is not trusting at all. No relationships either, he’s seen too much hurt in his lifetime, but when he meets a girl named Grace….he wants to know more about her, and doesn’t realize who she is until he returns home to Nashville and comes face to face with her.
I loved this story, it pulled at my heart strings for these two characters, grab this one now!
Dump and Chase was such a fun book to read. It features characters from many of Toni Aleo’s previous novels. The two main characters are Shelli and Aiden who’s parents were in some of the first Assassin stories.
Sometimes your first love is your only love, and that is the case in this book. The chemistry between Shelli and Aiden is undeniable and creates many steamy scenes. It is also a very heartwarming story with all of the trials that they face together.
I have really enjoyed the previous Assassin novels and this book is just as amazing. I look forward to more in this series.
(I received an ARC from Toni Aleo in exchange for my honest review.)
I love all of Toni Aleo’s books. She had all the characters from the other books in this one and I loved how we got to see how they have all grown up.
Aiden and Shelli are magic!!!
Absolutely love getting the next generation of Assassins!
Between the amazing (as always) writing and getting to peak in on older characters that I have loved for years, this book touched my soul!!
Can’t wait to see what the rest of this generation has in store!!! (less) [edit]
