I was born into British aristocracy, but I’ve made my fortune in Manhattan. New York is now my kingdom.Back in Britain my family are fighting over who’s the next Duke of Fairfax. The rules say it’s me–if I’m married. It’s not a trade-off worth making. I could never limit myself to just one woman.Or so I thought until my world is turned upside down. Now, the only way I can save the empire I built … the empire I built is to inherit the title I’ve never wanted– so I need a wife.
To take my mind off business I need a night that’s all pleasure. I need to bury myself in a stranger.
The skim of Scarlett King’s hair over my body as she bends over . . .
The scrape of her nails across my chest as she screams my name . . .
The bite of her teeth on my shoulder just as we both reach the edge . . .
It all helps me forget.
I just didn’t bargain on finding my one night stand across the boardroom table the next day.
She might be my latest conquest but I have a feeling Scarlett King might just conquer me.
A standalone, contemporary romance.

A note from the grave can make all the difference
This thoroughly enjoyable book is a play on the fake wedding to satisfy the terms of the will story. Ryder Westbury moved to New York and had no intention of having anything to do with the title of Duke of Fairfax that could be his when his grandfather passes away. That changes, when his no-good cousin gets in the picture, and threatens to take away everything that Ryder built in the states. Uninterested in giving up his playboy lifestyle forever, Ryder needs a wife in name only, and only for a short time. Scarlett King now free of a disastrous first marriage and determined to avoid a repeat becomes his preferred partner for this deception. She wouldn’t want to make this permanent any more than him, would she? Even from the grave Ryder’s grandfather plays a role.
I loved everything about this sizzling marriage of convenience, billionaire, fake relationship romance! When Ryder meets Scarlett, a one night stand turns into so much more than he ever imagined was possible! These two together are so sweet, sexy and gave me all the happy feels!
Ryder Westbury is a hot, rich, totally cocky alpahole. Scarlet King is a beautiful, independent woman, rebuilding her life after divorce. I love Scarlet and Ryder!! The chemistry is scorching hot between them! All the characters are so entertaining. This is a marriage of convenience but there is so much more to come. Another fantastic book I couldn’t put down.
An entertaining and fun read with a British nobleman and an American woman. Not a favorite, but I enjoyed it.
Why, why, why? I’ve enjoyed the other 2 books in the Royals series by Louise Bay. This one, not so much. I took away two stars because Scarlett was all about how amazing Ryder was and how she wanted the relationship to really work and then BAM – one thing was out of character and she jumped on the plane without so much as a “hey why did you let that happen?” THEN when he totally laid himself out there she kicks him to the curb – all in the name of self preservation. REALLY! She just was saying she wanted things to work out – Arrggghh! To put it firmly in the bottom star rating Ryder had to do all the work to go get her – Scarlett was totally ridiculous and the author had Ryder not only professing his feelings, getting rejected, but then working his tail off to try and get her again. No just no, should’ve just left her. Ugh hate that.
Well written. Good characters
Loved that it starts off seriously sexy with the characters strong, independent
tender and take on their challenges with determination.
Loved this book and am interested in reading more by this author
You can’t help falling in love with Scarlett and Ryder. It’s deep, passionate, steamy. One of my favorite Louise Bay’s books so far – and I had the Manhattan trilogy right at the top before this one! Can’t wait to jump to the next story!
Love this book. It was hot!!
LOVED IT!
This series is drool worthy. It’s not just the accents in this book (though they certainly don’t hurt). It’s the fantasy, the reality, and the possibility all rolled into one gorgeous escape.
The Duke of Manhattan is the dream. The gorgeous knight, I mean potential Duke, in slightly tarnished armor. The adventure and the crazy chemistry will keep you entertained in this modern day fairytale.
Even if there is no fairy godmother, there is a pretty awesome Grandfather in law. sigh!
Louise really draws you into her stories. Loved it.
Loved it
It is predictable but still a great read.
The characters are great. It was well written, passionate and the relationship developes nicely.
