Crispin Ashforth, Duke of Whitley comes home from the war because his brother has died & Crispin is not only a Duke but no has 2 young 1/2 sisters under his care. He needs to find a governess for his hoyden sisters and into his life walks Jacinda Turnbow – but she has secrets, in order to save her father and herself from being thrown from their house into the streets, she agrees to pretend to be a governess while searching the Duke’s house to find proof he is a traitor.
I liked the story; however, I am really tired of the men coming from war drinking and womanizing beyond pale – I understand the darkness and dreams but no morals is quite another thing. I did end up liking Crispin but his “feeling sorry” for himself int he beginning didn’t earn him any points with me. I like the mystery, romance and even though they lusted into bed right away, the romance grew to be a great love story.
Scarlett Scott is a new author to me and boy have I been missing out! I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style. Duke of Depravity kept my attention from beginning to end and the characters were entirely fascinating. Alpha males are my favourite and Crispin makes a completely swoon worthy alpha male hero. Jacinda is a intelligent, witty and completely loyal heroine that you can’t help but love. This story had a fair amount of humour in it, the story is unpredictable and very steamy! A very enjoyable read! I can’t wait for more!
