He’s notoriously wicked. She’s a wallflower guarding her heart.

The Duke of Montrose has perfected the art of being a scoundrel. Mistresses? He’s had an endless procession of them. Gin-soaked nights? He’s experienced more than he can count. He’ll do anything to distract himself from the demons of his … anything to distract himself from the demons of his past. Until the day his devil-may-care ways leave his best friend gravely injured. Now, he’s determined to make amends at any cost. Fortunately, he knows just where to begin.
The Honorable Miss Hattie Lethbridge is quite happy being a wallflower, thank you very much. She would far prefer to spend an evening curled up with her cat than whirling about a ballroom. When her brother’s scapegrace friend, the Duke of Montrose, proposes they marry, she is equally determined to refuse his suit.
The more she denies him, the more resolute Monty is that Hattie must be his. Much to her dismay, Hattie finds herself warming to the wickedest duke in London. But Monty is keeping dangerous secrets, and when Hattie discovers what he’s been hiding, any hope for a future together may be forever lost.

I absolutely loved this book!
It’s a beautiful romance, with dark secrets, a strong heroine and a reformed scroundrel.
I think this is my favorite, along with the Earl of Rayne =) This is entire series is a must read!
Miss. Hattie and the gorgeous Duke of Montrose find their happily ever after <3
The Duke of Montrose has done many things he is shamed of. Most recents almost causing the death of his best friend. For his atonement he is determined to marry his best friends sister thinking this will make amends. Miss Hattie Lethbridge can’t believe the man responsible for her brothers accident is proposing marriage. She would never marry a man know as the Duke of Debauchery, well known for his mistresses and drinking. Thus the chase begins! Montrose is using every charm he has to win over Hattie and she finds her resolve weakening as she comes to realize some truths about Him. Montrose also has some very dark secrets he wants to remain hidden. There is a lot to this story and Monty’s is definitely damaged inside. Hattie has a secret to which she is fighting to hold inside. Definitely a spicy, romantic, emotional story. Lots of feelings in this one!
Well, we have come to the end of Sins and Scoundrels and this series has gone out with a bang! Montrose is a hero you can sink your teeth into – he is crass and who does not want that in their book boyfriend? But people are not always what they portray on the outside. Montrose has a secret (it is revealed at the end of the book and although I think it was a bit much because we got no clue during the story, I did not let that bother me too much). Montrose and Hattie’s romance is explosive and exciting and debauched! I loved this story and was getting all kinds of feels while reading all of the naughtiness.
“Lie to Everyone else all you like. But do not lie to me.” Hattie had said. Duke of Montrose, Duke of Debauchery, reprobate, seducer of women, deceiver of others and most of all himself. “He spent a good portion of his life deceiving everyone around him. He had to lie to them, just as he had to lie to her. Because if anyone–if one single soul–knew the truth it would be the end of him.”
An emotional heartfelt story which had me anxious for Monty from the start. There seemed to be deep anguish in his soul he tried to outrun by his scandalous life. He needed saving…and Hattie would be the woman to do it because she had loved him for a long time although he did not know it.
He was determined to marry Hattie, sister of his best friend Terrie. The one he had helped almost kill with his recklessness and with the carriage accident. Terrie had lost his memory and was a shadow of who he’d once been and marrying his wallflower sister would help atone.
This series just gets better, if that is even possible. The wounded hero, the contained wallflower who really was feisty and caring with a strong passionate nature. With the two together the spark is undeniable and strong. Don’t miss it… Cannot wait for more!
Monty, Duke of Montrose is known to society as the Duke of Debauchery and he has always lived like that description. However a recent accident shook him up enough to make a few changes. The biggest being the wish to marry, and who better than the wallflower sister of the friend that was also in the accident. That will help ease his conscience.
Miss Hattie Lethbridge is trying to cope with the changes in her brother. She has never blamed the Duke for the accident so she will not allow herself to be used to salve his conscience. The man carries big secrets that cause him to behave in a reprehensible manner.
This is a sexy historical romance where our hero has a problem with addiction. Can our heroine force him to face the demon once she finds out?? It’s quite an emotional story at times but mostly very sexy.
This is part of a series that should be read in order, but each book can be read alone.
I loved it.
The Duke of Montross was known for his rakish ways and gin-filled nights. He really could not count all the women he had enjoyed in society. However, his drunken ways led to a terrible accident in which his best friend was horribly hurt and lost his memory. His friend’s sister, the Honorable Miss Hattie Lethbridge, remained the wallflower she had always been and refused the Duke’s offer of marriage. Perhaps it was because she felt that the Duke was feeling guilty and wanted to ease his conscience. Or was it? I found this to be an interesting story line as they tried to work out the feelings between them. Thank you, Scarlett Scott, for a page turning experience.
The Duke of Montrose devil may care attitude leave his best friend Terrie, Viscount Torrington aka Torrie is gravely injured with a head injury and lost his memory lost. He’s determined to make amends and his friend’s sister Hattie Lethbridge is the solution, he’ll marry her after all he needs and heir and who better than his best friends sister. Hattie is perfectly happy being a wallflower, she doesn’t need Montrose interfering with her life. She flat refusing his proposal of marriage. He tries to hide his addiction from her. then he’s blackmailed and his life starts spiraling out of control and only Hattie can save him. I loved this funny romantic book and the witty banter between Hattie and Montrose as passion sizzles between them until it can no longer be denied. I love how they’re lives are intertwined as they fall in love and find their HEA. An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review.
The Duke of Montross (Monty) aka the Duke of Debauchery earned his moniker by living it – he couldn’t count how many of society’s women he had bedded or how many gin drunken nights he spent. Then in one of his drunken nights an accident caused his best friend, Viscount Torrington (Torrie) to be seriously injured plus he lost his memory, Monty began to think he should change his ways and one way was to marry his best friend’s sister as it would help Torrie knowing his sister was protected and Monty needed to marry and have an heir.
Hattie Lethbridge is Torrie’s sister, is best friend to Monty’s sister, she is a wallflower & has also been secretly in love with Monty for a long time. She is perfectly happy with her position in life but when Monty proposes to her with some of the reasons to marry, well, let’s just say she thumbed her nose at him and refused his proposal that is only being done to ease his guilt for the accident.
When Monty’s life start deteriorating, he attempts to hide his addiction from Hattie & then the blackmailing begins & now only Hattie can help him get control of himself. I loved their trip to a HEA – their romance sizzled, their banter was hilarious & then the love blossomed & could no longer be denied.
Another brilliant addition to the series
This is another brilliantly crafted story that continues a great series. This steamy plot is one emotional twists and turns, and characters who are portrayed with the strength and determination required to overcome their fears and past misconceptions.
The main characters had palpable chemistry from page one. Both want something different out of their relationship but they cannot deny the attraction, espcially in the bedroom. Secrets from the past threaten their happiness but in the end, they are able to work through it and realize they love each other. This is part of a wonderful series, i highly recommend Scarlett Scott. all of her books are great!!
The fifth and final book of this series is about Ewan “Monty” Hamilton, Duke of Montrose, or better known as the Duke of Debauchery. Together with his best friend Torrie, Viscount Torrington (whose sister, Hattie, is best friend of Monty’s sister Catriona) the two get into one disaster after another. The latest was a race between the two when both were drunk. It resulted in Monty’s broken ankle but Torrie’s head wound caused his loss of memory. Guilt ridden Monty decides the only course open to him is to marry Hattie, a wallflower almost on the shelf. Little does he know Hattie has been secretly in love with Monty for years. Having little illusions about his drinking and legions of women, Hattie keeps refusing his suit. Until the day she glimpses the true Monty and his need for her. Monty goes from giving up drinking to opium addiction, unknown to Hattie. Monty is running from demons of his past, nightmares that continue to plague him. The only person who knows about his shame is Torrie, and with his memory gone, Monty is determined to deal with his pain and shame with oblivion offered by the drug. But little by little, the care and tenderness and love of Hattie pierces his armor. Until confronted with the person responsible from his past, Monty did the only thing he could – cause Hattie to hate him. His selflessness is the very key to his freedom and happiness. Enchanting story of misplace guilt, faith, trust and love to bring light to darkness and show the path to joy! Especially enjoyed the Epilogue which intertwines all the books in this wonderful series!!
Should come with trigger warning about child sexual abuse.
Ewan, aka “Monty”, the Duke of Montrose, is a naughty, naughty guy. Hence this story’s title and his nickname in the London ton. If it’s not gambling or drinking, it’s whoring or worse. He has a reputation as a man with ‘skills’. Most believe he’s irredeemable, including his own mother, and the sister of his best friend.
Miss Hattie Lethbridge, a wallflower, has an older brother at home on whom she dotes. She has family and friends to keep her busy, and does not plan to marry. When Ewan decides Hattie must be the woman he marries, she says no to his every request. Maybe he’s going to have to come up with another plan. Hattie is getting weaker to his talents….
This is a spicy romance by Scarlett Scott, and it’s book number five in this series. For anyone looking for a fun and hot regency romance that also has a real relationship between two wonderful characters, I highly recommend this. Ms. Scott is a talented story teller.
