The New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance returns with the thirteenth pulse-pounding thriller in the “engaging and entertaining” (Los Angeles Times) Ali Reynolds series. After taking down the man responsible for his best friend’s death, Stuart Ramey believes the case is finally closed. That is, until Stu discovers he’s been left with a multimillion dollar fortune in Bitcoin in a desperate … fortune in Bitcoin in a desperate attempt by Frigg, a rogue A.I. program created by the killer, to keep itself from being fully deactivated.
To take Frigg down for good, Stu enlists the help of Ali Reynolds and the rest of his cyber security colleagues at High Noon Enterprises. But they are not the only ones who know about Frigg’s existence.
Graciella Miramar, an unassuming accountant to all appearances, is actually the right-hand woman to El Pescado, the leader of a dangerous drug cartel. She’ll do anything to get her hands on that program. With Frigg’s help, Graciella hopes to take over El Pescado’s criminal underworld and become wealthy beyond her wildest dreams. But Stu—and El Pescado and his henchmen—may not be so easily defeated.
As the “grand master of the game” (The Providence Journal), J.A. Jance crafts another electrifying thriller that shows that everything has its price.

As I’ve stated many times with these two series from Jance: Love all the Ali Reynolds novels (as well as Jance’s Sheriff Joanna Brady novels, set around Bisbee AZ). Ali Reynolds is based out of Sedona AZ, and the author’s depiction of Upper Middle section of AZ (as well as the SE corner) is part of the enjoyment for me in these novels, having visited both areas and enjoying them. Her characters and the story line add to the enjoyment. I eagerly await the next book in either series, which says it all.
It was good but not as many characters, etc.
Have read just about everything that J A Jance has written. I have been a fan seems like ‘forever’. “Duel to the Death” was not a disappointment either. The subject of the book dealt with the future of AI’s in our world. We are so much in to computer technology that the supercomputer (AI) seems to be closer than most think. We humans build them to such a magnitude that who knows if when we keep adding things to the data bank that they (AIs) won’t do us in. 🙂 Kept my interest all the way through. Ready for the next adventure!! Thanks
I am not good at writing reviews. All I can say is…Anything I have read by J.A. Jance, I love…She writes a good story.
Very Good. Best J A Jance novel I’ve read.
Any J.A. Jance novel is a winner but Ali Reynolds is my favorite!
I just love J. A. Jance, period. She writes a good story.
Love this author.
Terrible
J A Jance is always a treat to read.
Love all of this author’s books!
Love JA Jance’s books.
You not only get a good story line, you get to learn about the country in her books. Having a son that lives in Phoenix, I enjoy the Arizona based books, especially. You cannot miss with a book by Jance.
Great book
This is a follow-up to the previous Ali Reynolds book. It’s quite predictable, but easy to read.
I love everything Jance writes!
J A jnce never disappoints. It is a great series for any mystery fan.
I love all of these books. We live in Arizona and I can follow along with the places. Love the characters. They are real life people. This story was believe able. First I wasn’t Sure with a computer that talked back and had her own personality. . Great story line. Highly recommend.
JA Jance always writes entertaining books. One of my favorite authors who are consistently enjoyable.
Moves forward at an even pace, sometimes slow. It keeps building so you don’t want to quit and then bang, all the lines are tied up and it’s over. I guess that’s the real punch the end comes up so fast after having moved along like the week before Christmas.
