4.5 Fun, Entertaining and Enjoyable Stars!!
A Hilarious, Entertaining and Enjoyable YA Romance brilliantly performed by the amazing David Black, who did an excellent job portraying each of the characters, female and male alike, and bringing the story to life!!
This is the story of a bad boy, Bryce Slater, who has to fight and work for what he wanted, the girl who stole his heart, Avery Sinclair! The story is well written, and the characters well developed, likeable and funny. The ranch setting combine with the storyline, and great characterization was another thing that kept me hooked the entire time.
All in all, this was another great read/listen that I greatly enjoyed!!
A next generation of the G-men indeed. You have your teenage rebellion with lots of attitude and quite a bit of maturing in this book. I love how this book came out with a couple of twists thrown in the mix. Great writing!
I really enjoyed this story. The characters had great chemistry and banter. Their relationship was so much fun. The story was engaging and had a lot of heart.
Book 7 in Smith’s G-Man series and can be read / listened to as a stand alone. This is the first of the series that I’ve listened to and I really did love it. Bryce starts off as such an a$$ but from the very beginning has his own set of rules he stays true to. Through out the read his character grows by leaps and bounds. Avery by contrast is the goodie girl next door and these two clash from the start. But as both grow into themselves and mature (they’re only 18 and 19 respectively) their chemistry cannot be contained or denied. Plenty of steam and lots of sweet romance too. A great, well written / narrated romance read with a good flow to the story line which kept me peaked until the very end.
Oh – I also loved the famous quotes shared throughout!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Dude Interrupted
G-Man, Book 7
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: David Black
What happens when you are 18 and the rebelling gets out of hand? Bryce finds out when his parents send him to a friend’s ranch for the summer. Some good, hard work away from the temptations will hopefully get him on track. Avery works her grandfather’s ranch each summer, taking her job seriously. This excuse for a helper is not going to cut it, but she digs her heels in and gives him the tasks to start with. And our story begins. It’s a fun, new adult story with Bryce’s coming of age. There are some very good messages in this story, learning about life, how your actions affect you and how to deal with them. There is also a little mystery that keeps the story flowing. It’s a small town, feel good story you will surely enjoy.
David Black is the narrator, and it’s my first listen of his. I really loved his voice! He has a great variety of voices, does age differences well, from old women to young men and gives the story a good feeling. I enjoyed his performance and will be watching for more of his books.

OMG! I can’t believe the difference in Bryce! From book one and two he is the sweet boy with parents who dote on him. Now he is the angsty irritating teenager who fights against the parents with everything he has got. He has gotten himself into trouble one too many times. He is going to endure a tough love summer doing manual labor to pay off his fines and court costs. But by the end of this book he has changed so much. Grown up!
I loved listening to this story about Bryce. David Black did a good job reading and being the characters. I could really feel his anger blasting off him during the beginning of this story. This story came at a perfect time in my life and gave me hope. The author did a wonderful job bringing all the elements together. I loved, hated and was astounded while listening to this. I was pleased at how this whole story went.
Bryce Slater bad boy teen, till he’s caught with his pants down and sent away to work on a horse farm to pay court fees. Avery Sinclair a very ethical boss, plus Mandy a mistake from his bad boy days teach Bryce the ropes and a deserved lesson in life.
David Black the narrator of this G-man next generation series did a nice job bringing these characters to life.

Cute coming of age romance. The feel of this book is very much in keeping with the age of the main characters, which says a lot for the skill of the author. An original plot. Well done. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Dude Interrupted is book 7 in the G-Man series by Andrea Smith. They have all been strong stories with well-rounded, interesting characters, and this read one is no different. Avery and Bryce don’t start off on the right foot but things improve over time. Bryce Slater is a typical teen with behaviors that tend toward the wild side. He’s not having a good senior year because part of him is bitter that his father would uproot him from a school he liked, only to stick him in a school where he didn’t feel like he fit in. His bad attitude and aloof manner just might have something to do with that. He finds himself in trouble with the law and his father applies some tough love, sending him to a horse farm to re-think the path he wants to travel in life. He’s angry and decides that he’s not going to cooperate much, if at all. Avery Sinclair’s family owns the horse farm Bryce where is sent and, if tough love is what he needs, she dishes it out in spades! At first, they grate on each other, thinking the other is going to be a problem. They don’t like each other without knowing why. Those false impressions are quickly dispelled once they’ve been together as they work. Both Avery and Bryce find reasons and excuses to be close until it turns into so much more. This is a marvelous story with some surprises and a betrayal at its core. The ending actually had me in happy tears! Definitely recommended!
Andrea Smith is one of my favorite Authors!!!!
She gifted me with the Audible version of this book. It’s part of the captivating G-Men Series!!
Eighteen year old and handsome Bryce Slater is a partying bad boy-playboy!! Unlike his responsible FBI agaent father. Bryce ends up in trouble at home and his parents send him south to a friends horse farm to work off what he owes his parents!
Meanwhile Avery is nineteen, responsible and loves working at her grndparents stables for the summer. She immediately get turned off by Bryce’s behavior. But, hey opposites attraks!!
I enjoyed this fast paced romance. I look forward to reading/listening to more from Andrea Smith!
Bryce Slater, 18, was starting to spiral out of control. After he was bailed out of jail for a wild teen party for drinking, possession of weed etc. His dad, Slater, arranged for tough love solutions for Bryce to work at a horse ranch until all fines were paid back to him.
Avery Sinclair is the 19 year old owner’s granddaughter who ends up being his boss. She’s the one who would give him his daily chores. It took an emergency at the farm before Avery began to start to trust him. Their friendship grows into romance. I love how the author develops their relationship slowly. Of course there has to be a twist, mystery, love, fun times.
David Black is an excellent storyteller. I was able to feel all the drama and emotions. He gave each character their own personality and brought them to life.i was gifted an audio in exchange for my honest review.
Great Story & Audible Listen LovingG-Man’s Next Generation!
Dude Interrupted
G-Man, Book 7
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: David Black
I loved this story, it captivated me from start to end. I have become a huge fan of Andrea Smith’s work, she has a wonderful writing style and creates stories and characters that are interesting and real. I’ve had the pleasure to enjoy the first two books in the G-Man series and am anxiously waiting for the rest of the series to become available on Audible, which is happening soon. While waiting I was happy to see this new release on audible. Dude Interrupted is a G-Man, Next Generation is Bryce’s story, his parents Samantha and Slate are from Diamond Girl. If you were expecting Bryce to be just like his Dad, a diehard G-man, well think again. He is more like a typical angsty teen, though he did inherit a badass attitude and good looks, with no plans to follow his Dad’s footsteps. But he finds himself in a heap of trouble and with a court order he gets sent away to go work on horse ranch cut off from friends and life as he knows it. He is not happy about it but abides and tries to acclimate. Avery Sinclair is the supervisor for all summer workers, including Bryce. She has a take no crap attitude and great work ethic. I loved when these two first met, I loved that she had no problem setting him straight right from the start. I also loved how their opinions of each other begin to change and they start to become friends. All is starting to go well for Bryce until something from his past comes for a surprise visit. A lot goes on in this story, it is well plotted with some plenty of drama, angst and some great plot twists. I loved the build up to romance between Bryce and Avery and most of all I loved the direction Bryce chose to take his life and the great ending. Andrea Smith, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, David Black is a terrific narrator and voice performer. He brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. He did a great job projecting the emotions of the characters as well as the drama of the story into his performance. He his an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for a great listen
If you have read the original G-Man series you’ll remember Slate and Samantha from Diamond Girl, Bryce is their eldest son. Avery is the daughter of Judge Trey Sinclair from Maybe Baby, I have not read this series but it did not take anything away from the story. I appreciate that we are getting to know the next generation of couples we have met previously but I really appreciate the fact that you do not have to read the prior books in order to enjoy this one.
This was a good addition to the series, at the very beginning I didn’t like Bryce there was just something about his attitude that rubbed me the wrong way but he quickly grew on me. Especially after his parent invoked some tough love on him and sent him away to work on a ranch in order to pay them back for bailing him out of jail after the police raided a party he was at, once he adjusted his attitude – yeah that’s when I really started to like him.
I really enjoyed the slow pace of the relationship growth between Bryce and Avery. Although they were attracted to one another they didn’t rush into anything other than a friendship at first. Avery was the one Bryce reported to for work, and although they did have a boss/employee relationship it never came into play and was definitely not something I would consider taboo. Things didn’t go smoothly for them, but honestly anything worth having is worth fighting for.
I am really enjoying getting to know the next generation of G-Men and I look forward to seeing who gets his HEA next.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Dude Interrupted is the story of Bryce and Avery. I really enjoyed this story and I loved how strong Avery was. Bryce had no chance of overpowering her. After a rough start, he turned out to be a great guy, but there was quite a bump to overcome first.
This review is based on the audiobook. It was a real pleasure to listen to this book. The narrator did a great job with both male and female voices.
This is Book 7 from the fabulous G-Men series.
Bryce is your typical teenager, a little out of control, so his parents send his to a horse farm to earn a living. Also, to learn responsibilities and pay what he owes them.
He soons finds a backbreaking job at the farm, not his idea of working. He loves his music and will slack off, but when Avery comes into to the picture she is having none of his slacking. Such a fun story, with a responsible and hard working young lady meets a handsome Bryce, their attraction sizzles!!
I enjoyed this book, watching Bryce mature he and the other characters develop throughout the book. This entire series is so addictive and very enjoyable.
Narration 4
Story: 4
Execution: 3
I guess I went with too much expectations and end up jinxing the story. The blurb suck me right in, I was desperate to listen so I did. While the story was nice, I think the pace was off. A lot of stuff happened just to be solved quickly and forgotten. The “hate” between them was almost non existent, it happen just as quickly as it was gone. They end up together really fast and kinda out of nowhere.
Bryce is painted like this bad boy who doesn’t want anything to do with his life and it’s an embarrassing for his parents. We are told this, but his actions told us otherwise. It seemed fabricated.
Also, there is more telling than showing situations. The situations occur and we were told about them in the next chapter. I’m not really keen of these writing style.
So I guess the problem was me and not the book. I was expecting something and was presented with another, unfortunately.
The narration was really nice. David Black is new to me, but I like his intonation and pacing. I could understand easily what he was saying. He also differentiate one character from another, which I appreciate. I thought the narration itself, when there was no dialog, could have been tone down. Bryce always seemed angry because of it, but overall I really like it.
This audiobook was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
It is a classic good boy goes good. The story is slow at first but it gets better. I like that the boss is a hard as nails female. I got this book from storyorigins and this is my voluntary and honest review.
