This was a delightfully romantic and lovely book. You’ll love both of the main characters whose young love was torn apart when Regine agreed to marry the Duke of Heartwaite. James couldn’t believe she had just given up everything they had together – to marry a Duke and then immediately leave England.
Eight long, lonely years later Regine returns to London as a widow. She never expected to see James again, but she had never forgotten him. No matter how far she traveled, he was always there in her heart. Then, while shopping, she sees him in the window of a coffee house and while she doesn’t intend to go in – her feet have other ideas. Her eyes can’t get enough of him. However, when he sees her – his spine straightens and his shoulders stiffen and she can tell that he isn’t happy at all to see her.
Families conspire, villains arise, truth comes out, and an entrancing HEA ensues. I just know you’ll love this short novella as much as I did.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Regine Maberly, Duchess of Heartwaite is back in London for the first time in eight long years. She married and left with her husband to tour the continent and returned to his country estate when his health took a turn. She nursed him for a year and then entered mourning. She didn’t plan on returning to London, but when her mother passed away, she became the guardian of her youngest sister Juliet. She is passing a coffeehouse when she sees him – James Brentwood – the love of her life and the man who hates her as passionately as he once loved her.
This is a very short, very sweet second chance at love story featuring Theodosia and Jessica’s brother James, a successful solicitor, who loved Regine with all his heart, until she broke it in a million pieces by marrying the Duke of Heartwaite. This story was well written, flowed nicely and didn’t feel rushed despite being a very short novella, there are no graphic love scenes, only kisses and the author does a great job of giving the reader a good understanding of their past. I really enjoyed the story and happily recommend it, if I had any complaint, it would be that I wish it was a little bit longer! This is the sixth book in the series, but it can easily be read as a stand alone title with no issues.
*I am voluntarily leaving a review of an eARC that was provided to me.*
Very enjoyable short story. I enjoyed James and Regine’s second chance at love. I felt she was very brave for stepping up to him and not running away after all that time. Love conquers all.
OMG, I just LOVED James and Regine’s story!!!! It was cleverly written that you felt like it was happening right in front of you. Every page kept me on my toes. A truly riveting novel.
A wonderful second chance romance and a fitting story to this series and for James, who we met previously in the series and truly gives us insight on who James is and how he became the man he is. When the love of his life leaves him, marrying a Duke for convenience – James is heartbroken and throws himself into his work. But when Regine comes back to London, two years after her husband passes away – James has a hard time tamping down his feelings and when they continue to be invited to the same gatherings, avoiding her will be difficult.
This is a sweet story of second chances and this author can draw in the reader from the very first pages. Even though this is part of a series and characters reoccur, they can be read as standalones and you won’t be lost. A charming story that historical romance readers will enjoy.

Colette Cameron always brings her A game and this wonderful story of a second chance love attests to that. With entrancing characters who draw you in from the start she weaves this beautiful story filled with emotions, realizations and forgiveness. I couldn’t put it down I just had to see James and Regine find their way back to one another. Thank you so much Colette For such a beautiful story of love everlasting.
Strong women do.
Regine is a strong woman who did what had to be done eight years ago. She sacrificed her happiness and agreement with James when her father died to marry a much older duke. Finances. Economics. She had to for her mother and sister but James never let her explain why.
James is now a solicitor who can hold a grudge. He and Regine had grown up together and were once youthfully and idealistically in love.
Now that Regine is widowed and back will they finally get a chance at happiness?
Cuz, their road isn’t easy with people throwing obstacles in their way.
I liked the emotions and the descriptive writing style.
Highly recommend.
Duchess of His Heart by Collette Cameron is a beautiful second chance at love story. It sucked me in and didn’t let me go until the last page. Ms Cameron has a way with words that I feel like I am right there with the hero and heroine. I recommend this story. You will not regret it.
Duchess of His Heart by Collette Cameron is the sixth book in the Seductive Scoundrels series and definitely worth reading if you love second chance romances. I loved it!
James and Regine’s second chance at love is the perfect Valentine’s Day story that you definitely don’t want to miss.
I was given an ARC from author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
This is another amazingly written book by Ms. Cameron. The hardest thing Regine had to do was leave her one true love to save her family. Now she is back and widowed and never stopped loving James. James is a hardened man due to Regine will she be able to rekindle their passion and let old wounds heal or will cut her out of his life for good? I received this book as an ARC and all opinions are my own.
“Duchess of His Heart” (nook version) was short and sweet. The love between James and Regine was so heart wrenching and, heart warming. Thank you.
This book was too short. Not because of the characters or because of the quick occurrences, but because it was a beautiful story. I wanted some scenes to be longer just to extend the feel of Regine and James being together and reclaiming what they once had.
Okay, I’m probably getting ahead of myself here. This is a clean, second chance at love story that had me from the beginning. Regine and James were in love when they were young, but she’d ended up marrying a much older duke for a common reason.
It broke James’ heart and left him a bit sour and angry. He’s made appearances in previous books in this series and was always down on love until this book when he was finally reunited with the one woman he’d always loved.
Fast forward eight years, she’s a widow and he’s still a bachelor. She’s traveled to a few places with her husband and hasn’t been in London for a very long time. She’s done with the mourning period and she’s back with her younger sister, whom she still takes care of. When she saw James sitting in a coffee shop, reading a newspaper, she made herself known to him. He was less than happy to see her because he was still nursing his broken heart and didn’t want an encore with her.
Although I did love this book, I wish it had been longer so I could’ve felt the angst in James longer which would have made their reunion so much sweeter. It all worked, though. It had a sweet, even a little scandalous ending.
This book is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone novel.

Enjoyable quick, sweet, second chance read. I received an ARC of this book.
This is a wonderful second chance story for Regine and James.
It will make you cry, hope, cheer and believe in happily ever after.
Regine and James feel in love only for her to marry another to help her family at the time but she never forgot her first love. When she is widowed and returns to town she runs into James and she knows her feelings are the same but his have changed and she knows he hates her now. I loved this second chance at love for these two even when he tried to hate her he could not. There is someone lurking in the shadows waiting to cause trouble for Regine. Could Regine and James ever find the happiness denied them in the past?
Another heartwarming, delightful quick read. As usual her characters were charming and sweet. The story flowed quickly and beautifully. You can’t go wrong with any of Ms Camerons books. There was no sex just a lot of longing and love. I received this book as an ARC and was very happy to do a review.
I enjoyed this quick read. Regine and James had been in love. Circumstances ripped them apart. Now was their second chance at love. The sacrifices that Regine made were great, and I loved her dedication to family and friends. I also loved how James was growly one moment and then protective and caring the next while he worked his way through his true feelings. I felt the love and pain of these two and breathed a sigh of relief at the end. I recommend this story.
I received an ARC of this story, and this is my unsolicited review.

This is the sixth book in the series & it could be read on its own but we did meet James’ sisters in books 2 & 5 so I was thrilled that James had his HEA. I loved this second chance romance, which I read in a sitting. It flowed effortlessly & my only quibble was that I wanted it to be longer. I loved both James & Regine. James had become a successful solicitor, putting his heart & soul into his work to try & forget that Regine had left him. Regine has sacrificed herself to save her family but never forgot James. A lovely romance ideal for putting a smile on your face
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
A second chance for Regine and James. Wonderfully developed characters, storyline very believable, emotional highs and lows. This is a great series. Stand-a-lone book but characters do appear in other stories. Another great read from Collette Cameron
Love, love, love this book. After eight years and now a widow, Regine, Duchess of Heartwaite returns to London. By chance she sees James Brentwood, the only man she’s ever loved. Sacrificing their happiness, she married out of desperation for security for her family never telling James why. A second chance for two people who have loved each other for many years. A novella that will make your heart ache. I received a free book from the author to read and review.
