In the latest installment of Craig Johnson’s New York Times bestselling Longmire series, Wyoming’s beloved lawman takes on his coldest case yet When Jen, the largest, most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever found surfaces in Sherriff Walt Longmire’s jurisdiction, it appears to be a windfall for the High Plains Dinosaur Museum—until Danny Lone Elk, the Cheyenne rancher on whose property … Cheyenne rancher on whose property the remains were discovered, turns up dead, floating face down in a turtle pond. With millions of dollars at stake, a number of groups step forward to claim her, including Danny’s family, the tribe, and the federal government. As Wyoming’s Acting Deputy Attorney and a cadre of FBI officers descend on the town, Walt is determined to find out who would benefit from Danny’s death, enlisting old friends Lucian Connolly and Omar Rhoades, along with Dog and best friend Henry Standing Bear, to trawl the vast Lone Elk ranch looking for answers to a sixty-five million year old cold case that’s heating up fast.

Craig Johnson is great.
True to its roots in Amerindian lore.
one of my favorite authors, currently reading another of his, never disappoints.
Very interesting distinctive background setting and characters with an action packed plotl. The ending was surprising too.
All the Walt Longmire books are 100% 5 Stars!
This is one of a great series of books about Wyoming and a quirky Sheriff’s Department, an Indian Casino and reservation, and a cast of wonderful quirky characters. One of my favorite series!
I love Walt Longmire
Have always enjoyed T. Hillerman – This gave me a glimpse at another Western/ Indian crime-solving world. Great characters.
Longmire was one if my favorite tv shows. So naturally I had to read the books. So far I love them all!
I love this author. Craig Johnson has created the Longmire series which just gets better and better. The cast of characters is unique and the setting of Wyoming, even if you’re not in Western things captures the imagination. I think too because Craig used to be a genuine sheriff of Wyoming, he really has made this completely authentic. And it’s …
I have read several of Craig Johnson’s books. This was my least favorite one.
Although I’m familiar with the Netflix series Longmire, the written word still holds its own whether describing characters or actions.. Paleontology researched well as lis legal hassles that can occur deepening on where specimens are found. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The mystery of Native American enter action with their beliefs of spirit
Another great Longmeir!
I really enjoy the Longmire series.
I love every one of Craig Johnson’s books. Just plain good stories about Wyoming.
I’ve loved the books, the Tv series, and Craig since it started. This one is not the best. Indeed some of it seemed familiar and I wonder if some of the parts showed up on the Netflix series. The author says they take incidents from the books but not the whole story from the books for the scripts.
Typical of the series. He has his faults but he’s a man of his own.
A book store worker told me he loved the book so much that he’d give me my money back if I didn’t. I absolutely loved it!!
Longmire is such an established character that in my mind he is synonymous with my concept of Wyoming.
