It was supposed to be fun. A mutual use of each other’s bodies. To be a ruse to the world around us. I wanted to be free from my ex, and he wanted to escape his. One drunken night turned a joke into a life-changing moment. He warned me not to fall for him, and I should’ve listened. He intoxicated me. He made me crave him. He ruined me. In the end, I’ll never be the same.Welcome back to Hope Town … ruined me.
In the end, I’ll never be the same.
Welcome back to Hope Town – Book 4 will feature Nikki and Shane 🙂

DRUNK ON YOU is the fourth installment in Harper Sloan’s contemporary, adult HOPE TOWN erotic, romance series –a spin off and next generation series from the author’s Corps Security. This is bar owner and former male stripper Shane Kingston, and primary school teacher Nikki Clark’s story line. Nikki is best friends with Ember Reid: and Shane co-owns the nightclub and bar The Dirty Dog with his friend and Ember’s husband Nate (When I’m With You #3). DRUNK ON YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information is revealed from previous story line.
NOTE: DRUNK ON YOU contains graphic sexual language, as well as scenes of D/s (Domination and submission), spanking and punishment that may not be suitable for all readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Nikki and Shane) DRUNK ON YOU is a story of friends to lovers, fake girlfriend/boyfriend trope that finds Nikki Clark desperate to push her possessive ex out of her life. Offering Shane a no-strings attached, fake girlfriend scenario is perfect for our story line hero as he too, is desperate to push his ex out of the picture. With no promise for the future, and no promises of love Nikki and Shane set about their fake relationship that turns into something more. What ensues is the building love between two people whose lives will be destroyed by one man’s lack of trust, and his inability to let go of the past.
DRUNK ON YOU is an erotic, romance story line with scenes of D/s, spanking, and punishment. Shane is a natural Dominant, and prefers his women to be obedient and amenable in the bedroom. Finding Nikki, a woman whose own sexual kinks border on the submissive is perfect for the their fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement until feelings and emotions get in the way.
The relationship between Nikki and Shane is one of immediate attraction but neither one was willing to push for something more believing they were both in committed relationships. With the revelation of two exes who refused to move on from the past, Nikki and Shane set into motion a plan in the hopes of breaking free of their previous destructive entanglements. The $ex scenes are erotic, aggressive and intense. Some readers may have issues with the D/s aspect of their earlier encounters.
Nate and Ember Reid (When I’m With You #3) play secondary and supporting roles. We are witness to Nate and Ember’s growing family; their over-protective friendships with our story line couple; and the successful expansion of the Dirty Dog, a success that threatens Nikki’s relationship with the man that she has grown to love.
DRUNK ON YOU and the Hope Town Series looks at the next generation of the original characters we met in the author’s Corps Security series but unlike the previous installments the Corps Security characters do not cross over in the current story line. Saying that, I miss some of the familiarity and the cohesion between the series. The premise is entertaining and inviting; the characters are sassy and energetic; the romance is raw and passionate.
Somehow this got buried on my kindle, so during this wonderful world of shelter-in-place I’ve been rereading some of my favorite series. Shane is Nate’s business partner and BFF, and Nikki is Shane’s wife, Ember, bff. Nikki and Shane hookup to try to get rid of their ex’s who just won’t go away. This evolve and they fall in love. Shane loves to be in control and loves to redden her arse, but of course, he a guy and does something stupid that he has to apologize for.
Now there’s a note at the end saying look out for Shane’s sister’s book and one of Cohen’s brothers….but that was in 2017….where is it? But as I follow Ms. Sloan on social media I see that she’s had a medical battle, so I’ll be praying for a quick recovery with more great books
I am a huge fan of the “Hope Town” series as well as the “Hope Town” series as well as the “Corps Security” series. Actually I have loved every single book this author has written !! So you will understand my level of giddiness when I got my hands on this gem 😉
Just like with the previous 3 books, I absolutely fell in love with this 4th book and the characters in it !!
Shane and Nikki were both awesome characters but, they were also extremely HOT. I think this is one of the hottest books by Harper Sloan that I’ve read…which is saying something because they are all flaming !! Shane is quite the dirty talker 😉
Now those of you, who have read the previous book, “When I am with you” , are already familiar with Nikki and Shane. Nikki is Ember’s best friend and Shane is Nate’s. I would advise everyone to read this previous book first since Nikki and Shane do play a big part in that book. Actually… I would advise everyone to read the whole series and the Corps Security one because they are that freaking good !!
Nate and Nikki are kind of struggling with the same issue. A crazy cheating ex, who just won’t take a hint and get lost.
After both being stalked for about a year by their exes, these two come together and start a plot. They are both extremely attracted to one another, and since they were both burned by their exes, they aren’t looking for anything serious….
Why not take advantage of this chemistry between them, and convince the rest of the world that they are in a serious relationship in the meantime ?? That should take care of those crazy exes, who are sniffing around….and it would also take care of this crazy attraction between them.
So they make a deal… They will be a “fake” couple and enjoy each other, as long as is lasts for their exes to finally take the hint.
They didn’t expect that there would be such a huge connection between them though… Shane is quite the dominant man, and being in control is one of the most important things in his life… especially when it comes to sex. Nikki never knew she would get this turned on by his controlling ways… She is the perfect submissive to his dominant side.
Now for those of you who are not into BDSM… no worries. There isn’t any hardcore BDSM going on. This is more about who is in control…which leads to some delicious spanking and Nikki getting tied up 😛
“Ça va être mon plaisir de jouer avec tois, chèrie” …..
Translation.. It’s gonna be my pleasure to play with you, darling
We all know though, that when you play with fire… you might get burned and these two are definitely playing a dangerous game. Soon the lines between “fake” and “real” start to blur.
But will they be able to move on from their pasts, and put their trust in one another….
Like I said.. I absolutely loved this book. It was a bit lower on the angsty side than the previous books though. I think that is because, even though this book deals with some crazy exes, this couple mostly struggles with problems on the inside. They need to conquer their own demons…especially Shane.
What I also love about Harper Sloan’s books, is that I am guaranteed a heroine, I will like. It’s so hard for me to find books with likable heroines and she has never let me down. Nikki was absolutely wonderful and as for Shane…. damn I need to know where I can find a Shane for myself !!!
I highly recommend this book, and this is definitely one of my favorite mf series. The next one will be about Shane’s sister Libby and one of the Cage boys..though I have no idea which one yet. Can’t wait. Keep writing Harper Sloan … and I will keep reading 😉

Uh, this was hot.
Like, all kinds of hot.
So that’s that on that.
We met Shane and Nikki in When I’m With You, she is Ember’s best friend and he is Nate’s. Both were in relationships that ended and the ex’s don’t want to take a hint and move on. They hatch a plan to pretend to date so that their ex’s get the picture that they are never getting back together. Shane and Nikki both have issues because of those relationships but their pretend dating rapidly turns into something much more. Will their feelings survive Shane’s unconventional job and his insecurities stemming from his ex? I recommend this book and both Hope Town Books 1-3 and Corps Security: The Series.
Nikki and Shane have always been attracted to each other, but they’ve always been with someone else.
When Nikki sees Shane dancing in front of her, she decides that there’s no time like the present to put her knew plan in place of doing things on her terms, and when he says she couldn’t handle him, she lets him know that she could. When they both work out their both single, she kisses him to let him know she could handle him.
Nikki feeling bold lets Shane know when he wants to show her what she can’t handle to give her a call or it’s he’s loss, surprised when he lets her know if she puts her number in, she’s his, however long they can handle each other.
Nikki surprises Shane at every turn, doing the exact opposite of what he expected and wasn’t bothered by his job. All he knows is he can’t walk away from what they have, and it doesn’t feel fake.
Amber and Nate decide that they want to test Shane and Nikki and help them get over their issues and see that what they have is real and will work.
Can they both work through their past insecurities with their relationships to make it work.
Holy hotness Batman! *fans self! How have I not read this one before? I have the others in this series and the Corps Security series and I do not know how I missed this but it has been rectified now! From the first page I was fully immersed in Hope Town and all things hot! Nate stole my heart but Shane took my heart, body and soul!
Both Shane and Nikki have issues with ex’s that won’t take no for an answer, so come up with a plan that will be mutually beneficial……but is it? My Heart, seriously!!!
Holy wow is Shane possessive, “you want more, I’ll let you know the next time I have laundry to do and you can steal all the **** you want, but any man’s clothes on your body had better be mine.” When Shane is panic mode man don’t care what he breaks, “I blink in confusion at the door, then over at the fuming man standing in the doorway with his fists clenched and his body tense, and then back at my door. “You’re going to fix that,” I tell Shane halfheartedly.” I loved this book, I love seeing all the Corps kids grown up, the characters are so lovable.
Harper Sloan never disappoints!!! I loved this book!!!
This is Shane and Nikki’s book and the chemistry was off the charts!!! It had all the elements I love in a good book, a red-hot alpha male, a sassy female, tie-ins to other characters not only in the Hope Town series but also from the Corps Security series, AND an adorable little boy that almost rivals Cohen when he was young. As usual, this author grabbed my attention from the very beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through the book.
Due to a series of misunderstandings, Nikki and Shane have denied their attraction for a very long time. When Nikki gets tired of trying to convince her ex that she REALLY doesn’t want him she decides that the best way to do that is by convincing Shane to act as her “boyfriend”. Things get really interesting REALLY fast. And the chemistry just keeps getting stronger between them. But can Shane learn to give up some of his control? Can he learn to trust Nikki? Or will he learn too late just what a good thing he has going?
“‘Nikki.’ He sighs, pressing his lips to my head. “What the hell are we doing?” I shrug, the movement awkward with our positions. “No clue, Shane, but at least we’re both on the same boat of confusion here in our muddled waters.’”
I was so excited to be back in Hope Town! It’s been so long since I’ve gotten lost in the characters here! The offspring of the Corps Security men have always given us stories full of love, shenanigans, family, and action. There’s never a dull moment, and there’s always some sort of beauty forming in their lives.
Nikki is a character I truly came to love. She’s a teacher (like me!) and she just seems to be super chill. Her heart is huge & she gives her loyalty without hesitation, which is a beautiful gift for anyone she cares about. Her life hasn’t brought her all the happiness a girl like her deserves, and she just keeps having to fight the toxicity out of her days. In order to get out of her current situation, she enlists the assistance of Shane, Nate’s partner from The Dirty Dog.
Shane is a man of mystery. He gives off a certain persona working at The Dirty Dog, but there seems to be more to him than just that that sexy, dancing man performing nightly at the bar. Shane has also not had the best of life, and that has shaped much of who is now is as a man. Being that he’s that sort of man, Nikki is up for a challenge. These two give off some crazy hot vibes, and it seems like they might scorch themselves!
These two give us a different type of story. They share a lot of the same characteristics of the classic Hope Town/Corps Security love story, but these two are just a little different. Nikki & Shane share a love that is so real, but definitely not easy. I loved watching them find one another, while also catching up on all the others I missed!
Let’s start with… this book was SO worth the wait.
Sexy.
Sultry.
Love and banter so well balanced you forget you’re actually reading a book.
Harper Sloan has this way of writing, that feels more like you’re catching up with old friends. You instantly get wrapped and lost in her world that it seems like no time has passed. You pick up where you left off without a hitch. I also hope Ms. Sloan knows she needs to write books for everyone in Hope Town. EVERYONE. From the kids that the sexy Corps Security produced to their friends and then some. I’m greedy and need more.
I seriously loved, LOVED Drunk on You. Shane and Nikki were a hot and fun couple. I truly love Shane’s alpha possessive side just as much as I loved Nikki’s confidence and strength. His need to protect her and himself made their story richer.
If you haven’t read this book, series, you are seriously missing out. This a book I highly recommend.
Nikki and Shane are a fantastic couple and their story flowed well. It’s a steamy page turning read that will have you reaching for a cold drink.
Both Shane and Nikki can’t shake their exes and devise a plan to finally rid themselves of the pests. Can they pretend to be a couple while enjoying a friends with benefits on the side? Will their exes get the picture and move on? Can they keep emotions out of it?
