Traditions are important. Especially in the South. College football. Rivalries. Tailgating. Halftime shows. Some things just don’t change.Until Reese Holland shows up with her long legs and no-bullshit attitude to audition for the prestigious all-male Rodner University snare line.It doesn’t matter how much hazing she has to endure from Laird Bronson, with his narrowed green eyes and arrogant … and arrogant smirk. She wants that damn spot, and she’s more than good enough to earn it.
She expects there to be tension. Even friction.
But not sparks hot enough to burn the entire campus down.

I loved this book so much that I read it and then bought the audiobook so I could experience it all over again!
If I were to describe Drumline in one word, it would be balanced. There was humor, but it wasn’t over the top (I loved Oscar). There was “tension,” but it didn’t feel angsty. There was substance, but it didn’t weigh the story down. Laird was an alpha, but just enough to make me really like him, and not too much to make me roll my eyes.
The story was unique, it was fun to read, and the characters were enjoyable (well, Marco wasn’t enjoyable, per se…). I whipped through it in one day, which is always a good sign of a great read.
I really enjoyed this book!! It was so much more than I expected it to be. Laird and Reese had awesome chemistry and I loved their relationship! I loved this coming of age story it was very different to other college/high school romances! I’ve never read about a story based around a drumline, its usually a football team or the brooding bad boy so that was something refreshing and different that I really appreciated.
Would definitely recommend this one to someone who likes some laughs, a strong heroine, sweet and alpha hero, and super steams scenes.
OMG the Cover is what caught my eye but the story captivated me.
I loved this book so much I don’t even know what to say right now.
Reece shows up for the drumline tryouts among a sea of guys, she has the strength, believe in herself and skill to stand her ground.
Laird is the captain, it is his senior year and he wants this drumline to be the best.
Add in 2 incredible side characters- Smith and Eli this was an amazing heartfelt read.
Laird is the perfect guy and my new book boyfriend swoon.
This book punched me in the heart, but not in the way I expected at all. I’m 34, and I only attended one year of community college, so YA books where the main characters are young and in college can be hard for me to relate too. That was an oversight on my part, it’s been on my TBR for a while and I didn’t read the synopsis before I started. I listened to the Audio, I absolutely LOVE Stepehen Dexter as a narrator, he did fantastic as always. This book was the first time I’d heard anything by Tracy Marks, and I really enjoyed her narration too. Reese and Laird’s story was heartbreaking for a completely different reason that what I initially suspected it would be. The connection of childhood cancer was on a deeper level. Yes, it had plenty of juvenile humor (which I’m totally not knocking) being as most of the characters were males between the ages of 18-22. ****Possible Spoiler**** The death of Eli, and Reese talking about it with Amelia is what absolutely made me lose it. Maybe it’s because I have kids, one who spent some time in a hospital (not for cancer), that made that part of the story so hard. I’m not sure what my expectations were going in to this book, something to drown out the sounds of my kids playing xbox while I take care of all of the fun adult details of life, but I was surprised I liked it as much as I did.
This was an enjoyable YA romance that although had an underlying serious tone it was also light hearted at the same time and you would find yourself chuckling too. Straight away I was not a fan of Marco but every story needs someone that you want to be mad with right?. Reese will not let anything or anyone stop her from following her goals and going after what she wants, seeing a strong and confident woman role is always empowering. Laird has been though quiet a bit in his life as well with still having so much life to live still. Seeing how he treats everyone shows the kind of man he truly is. The story flows smoothly and at a steady pace, these characters are all ones that you will build strong emotions for all around. As much as I enjoyed the ending I wish there was just a bit more provided to us with particular characters and where they ended up with their lives. Overall it’s still a great read that I would recommend.
This book was fantastic, I read it on KU and decided to 1 click it needs to be in my collection. One of the best college romance book I’ve read and I loved that it revolved around the drum line. Will be reading more from this author!!
Hilarious and funny
There were times when I had tears running down my face from laughing so hard! I love the banter between Laird and Reese and OMG the sexual tension was off the charts
Not hating this cover at all. Hello, you.
This was great, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Read it all in one sitting and couldn’t put it down. Loved the dedication…I’m a band geek too!
What an amazingly sweet, wonderful, sad, glorious, heart breaking, beautiful story.
Reese is such an amazing girl. So strong, independent, resilient woman. Her strength is just amazing and encouraging. And her heart is even better.
Laird, tho it bugs me to no end that I don’t know how to pronounce his name, is just……uh! He is also so strong, and sensitive, and loving, and oh so protective. I love how protective he is, without being overbearing. He’s just perfect.
Eli…..I love that foul mouthed little boy!
4.5 stars
Drumline was such a wonderful story! It had such a unique and refreshing storyline that I haven’t seen before. Totally enjoyed the chemistry and relationship between Laird and Reese! Can’t wait to read more from this author!
This was an AMAZING book I have been wanting to read it for awhile and I finally got my hands on it when I won a paperback copy of it in a giveaway. I was lost to this book the moment I opened it up I couldn’t put it down and when I had to for work (ugh) it’s all I thought about. I loved Reese she was a strong and fierce heroine and I loved her tenacity. Laird is a sexy and sweet hero. The chemistry between them was instantaneous and so HOTT! This book will have you feeling frustrated at times and make you laugh out loud at others and then bring you to tears in the next moment.
This was a great book and totally addictive.. So characters were well put together as well as the story. I recommend this..
Wowza! Laughter, swoon, tears, and all the feels in between! I LOVED this book! It’s so hard to find the right words without leaving spoilers but here I go.
I originally found this book on the interactive book app called Chapters and fell in love with Reese and Laird there. When I finished it there, I knew I had to own my own copy. It’s been sitting on my kindle waiting for me to read it and I finally dove in.
While I didn’t play in band in college, I was a high school band kid, and being able to relate to something I loved so dearly as a kid, this book drew me in immediately.
Reese’s stubbornness, her strength, her courage. Everything about this girl I loved! I’d want to be her friend. This character was written so amazingly. I loved how she tested those around her and stood for what she believed in. “No special treatment.”
And Laird… *fans self* Talk about a hot Alpha lead! I loved how he wanted to protect her so fiercely but respected her choice to find her own path. I loved how he made his own path. And no one can pass up the fact about how adorable his dog has to be. Oscar won my heart! “Nobody likes a sad weiner.” He means the dog but my immature brain can’t help but laugh at it every time it was said, in double context.
If you’re looking for a book to get lost in, a college new age romance, this is the one. With so many twists, I was reading at every chance I could, just to know what would happen next. I loved this book so, so much.
NA isn’t really my jam, but I ended up loving this story! Emotional without being angsty, sexy without being trashy, heartfelt without being maudlin!
