This is book 1 which is co-written by Jane Blythe and Amanda Siegrist.
It was thrilling and suspenseful with a hint of romance.
I like the way it keeps you guessing and wanting more.
The story is well written. If you like stories with tension, murder, thrills and romance then please pick this up
With the brutal murder of her best friend Evelyn, Rose can’t figure out could hurt her. With the help of a sexy detective dealing with his own personal demons, will they figure out who killed Evelyn, or will Rose be the killer’s next target?
Carter has a hard time controlling his temper, which makes him a scary cop you don’t want to get angry. His need to protect Rose intensifies when more people linked to her are killed. With the murderer closing in on Rose, Carter will need to face his greatest fear to save the woman he’s fallen for.
A fabulous story by two of my favorite authors. Detective Carter Dixson is working a murder case when he meets the murder victim’s best friend, Rose Gowan and sparks fly! I loved the idea of Rose and Carter together from the very beginning. A fast-paced, intense read from beginning to end! Highly recommend!
When Rose’s best friend is found brutally murdered, she meets Detective Carter Dixson, who is working the case.
The mutual attraction they feel brings them closer together while they try to solve the murder, but will secrets from their pasts keep them apart?
When Rose loses her best friend in the entire world to a very horrific and grizzly murder Carter is one of the detectives on the case and there chemistry is instantaneous. They are both dealing with plenty of past demons but Rose is able to see past the facade that Carter puts on. This story was so full of suspense and mystery I devoured it!!
I’m a huge Jane Blythe fan so of course I’m gonna read anything with her name on it. These 2 authors did a great job of collaborating together on this book. It was full of suspense. Had plenty of twists & turns that kept me guessing and turning those pages.
Wow! I’m still struggling for words. I flew through this book. Unable to stop reading. Flipping page after page. Caught up in the story these two authors created.
The mystery and suspense was off the charts. I had my kindle death grip, needing to know what happens next.
The very beginning of this book hooks you in and you find yourself feeling like you’re fleeing with the victim, trying so valiantly to gain your own freedom too. Great job authors.
Jade Hawkins and Carter Dixson are homicide detectives working on a murder case where he meets Rose Gowan, the victim’s friend. Carter feels an immediate attraction to Rose as does she to him.
I have to admit if the authors intended Carter to not be easily liked then they succeeded although I did feel empathy with him. I understood why he was very protective of Rose, however, I was extremely pleased she did stand up for herself, even if it did scare me a bit at times. The trauma Carter suffered greatly impacted his life but he went a tad overboard. In saying all of this he truly did have genuine feelings for Rose and only wanted what was best for her. They actually were great together and a balm for each other’s tensions.
The stalker and the killer in this story are so deluded, of course. Great suspense however I did predict who it was very quickly, but maybe that was the plan all along, the why, apart from the obvious obsession was what really intrigued me. The action and drama still made for exciting reading and was very entertaining.
I absolutely love a good mystery and this is exactly that. Full of mystery, suspense, shocking moments, gripping moments and a little romance. I absolutely love Jane and her books. Adding Amanda to the mix just wow. What is happening at the lake? Two detectives are working a case that just keeps getting more and more interesting. Carter is one of the detectives working the case trying to figure out who murdered Evie. Evie was found at the lake. Carter goes through a lot in this book. But I absolutely loved his storyline. Rose is Evie’s best friend and the one that has to go and identify her. That is when she meets Carter. Something clicks with them. But both are dealing with things in their lives that make it difficult to get into a relationship. And the biggest shock is who the killer actually is. I was blown away when I found out who it was. I guessed and guessed but was shocked. I absolutely loved how the book holds you hostage with the suspense. This was an amazing book from these two. I cant wait to read more from them. Highly recommend
Wow this book was really good I enjoyed it a lot and cant wait to find out what happens next
4 and a half stars.
This book was written by a unicorn author of mine and a new to me author and together they have started a series that will get you thinking and turning pages.
Yet again a character in the book bugged me and there were a few parts that irked but it flowed well for being a joint project.
4*
Rose has reported her friend Evie missing & is drawn to the Detective working the case. Carter can’t believe the pull he has towards Rose.
Evie, Lincoln & Rose were all good friends and grew up in the same foster home but things were not very good for them.
This is my first book reading these joint authors and I have got book 2 ready to read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Fear. She’s gone. Fear. Someone is killing them. Fear. Don’t go near the water. Fear. Someone is watching. Her best friend and confident is dead. So full of life. Looking for love. Dead. They protected and loved each other with no limit, but now she’s dead and she isn’t the only one. Rose’s world has shifted with her friends death but there is a light in her path leading to the man who is suddenly all she thinks about. This time these two authors have gotten together to bring us thrills, intrigue and chills along with a little romance. Each have a past that has kept them bound to their past. They both find themselves in a pickle when bodies start piling up and everything starts escalating. It’s a wild ride with plenty of action. I have read both of these author’s before and both have a great way of bringing their characters to life and laying traps for readers then spinning us around. I love the suspense and intrigue with characters that you can see and feel. A great story which had me from the start to the last word.
2 authors writing together equals a fantastic story!
I was hooked from the beginning. A creepy “who’s the bad guy” story with wonderful main characters, both with events in their past that have stopped them from being truely happy. Will they be able to conquer their fears and heal together?
Side note, first Jane Blythe book ever that I actually figured out who the killer was! Quite proud of myself and ready to read the next one!
