When you read a Kristen Ashley book you know what you’re going to get – a hot, alpha male hero and a smart mouthed, fashionable, long-haired heroine with family issues who at some point is going to be kidnapped by the bad guy (who sometimes turns out to be not so bad after all) with a supporting cast of girlfriends, similarly clad merely change the hair colourings who usually insist on helping but mainly make a bad situation worse. How would the Denver police department ever solve any crimes without the help of civilians!!! In Dream Chaser we get all that but I was left feeling disappointed. I read these books for the pure escapism and felt that this one was slightly anticlimactic. Only the one kidnapping? And that one technically could be argued as more of a forced visit. Most of this book seemed to be given over to the development of Boone and Ryn’s developing D & S relationship which I have to say, compared to other books I’ve read in this genre, was tame and more vanilla than anything. The conclusion to the mystery element of this story seemed almost like an afterthought, then again that whole side of things didn’t feature prominently in the story at all. One thing I did enjoy was the appearance of so many of my favourite characters from previous books. I will continue to read Kristen Ashley’s books to find out the conclusion to the whole ‘dirty cop’ storyline which started in Dream Maker but I won’t be waiting on any new release with the same eagerness I did some of her earlier works.
I read this book in two sittings! It’s long, but a has a good story. You will fall in love with Boone. While Dream Maker was a 5 star story for me, this one was just down one small notch from that. If you love KA you will love this story, too! 4 stars
A bit sidetracked by this book as it wasn’t exactly what I expected but a good read overall
I haven’t read the first book in the series and to my shame, I admit that this was my first book by the author even if I own a few of her other stories. But after reading this one and having the chance to meet so many secondary characters, I will read them because their place in Ryn’s and Boone story is too strong and important to be overlooked.
I enjoyed the writing quite a lot, as it’s so easy to read and just flows through the chapters and steaminess of a very interesting and, I must say surprisingly good story.
To me, it seemed more like a discovery of one’s self, of what Ryan wants from her life and herself even, and the fact that Boone is there to support her decisions every step of the way, it’s just a bonus for a great hero.
They are forgetting everything around when their smoke catches fire and the steamy scenes have pumped my blood pressure high with every other page and moment of discovering new layers of “this is what I want and need”
Now I can see why the author is a must-read among the romance lovers.
When you can take me back to the Rock Chick and Dream Man worlds – and give me another series full of even more! Well. You had me at Kristen Ashley.
I am loving the Dream Team series, getting the chance to get caught up and run into so many of my favorites from Rock Chick and Dream Man. I am in happy reader overload.
Ryn and Boone make a deliciously sexy… and totally stubborn couple, each for different reasons. They aren’t perfect by any means, they each have their issues to face themselves and together – but they are perfect for each other long-term if they can stop being bull-headed about the attraction between them that is very real, and very intense.
It would be so easy to just tell you all about Dream Chaser. So easy. But I will not ruin this delectable story for you. If you’ve read anything by Kristen Ashley then you already have an idea of what is in store for you here – hot, sexy, intense leads who are often funny, grumpy, and totally devoted to the ones they love… it really is that simple. Toss in some laughter, some sexy times, a few old friends, maybe some new ones, definitely some bad guys, along with some intense action scenes and you’ll feel right at home in this world once again.
I loved Boone and Ryn individually and together as a couple. They work and that comes across to the reader. If you love a really good Romantic Suspense, tense moments, sinfully sexy relationships, and a couple who will draw you in as they tell you their story — then Dream Chaser is perfect for you.
There is a reason that I re-read Rock Chicks, Dream Men, and now Dream Team at least twice a year… this world is just that good. Indulge yourself and Enjoy.
I also purchased a copy of Dream Chaser for my personal collection.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Forever via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Wow ! Another great read from Kristen Ashley !
In the second book in her Dream Maker series Kristen Ashley gifted readers with Ryn and Boone’s story. Like usual with this fabulous author, I couldn’t get enough as the journey to Ryn and Boone’s happy ending was at times equally exciting and emotional, and like always exceptionally memorable. It flew by much too fast for me since I am forever falling in love with Ms. Ashley’s amazing characters.
Ryn possessed the strength, sass and heart of every Ashley heroine, and well, Boone reminded me so much of my favorite Motorcycle Man Tack. He looked out for Ryn even though she tried to push him away. Ryn took a lot on her shoulders but she could be fierce whenever it counted. Boone’s protectiveness and Ryn’s stubborn streak got things off to a bad start at the beginning. Then the very minute Ryn was in danger right into the fray rushed hero Boone to the rescue. This awesome story had everything to keep the reader flipping pages. It had a great story, red hot romance, hot commandoes and down to earth dancers with hearts of gold, and suspense aplenty to keep it lively.
I really loved this book ! I am addicted to the new series and can’t wait for Hattie and Axl in the next book.
This was Boone and Ryn’s story, I was intrigued with Ryn and so I loved to get this story now. It can be read as stand-alone but I suggest your read Dream Maker as well. If you have read the Rock Chick series you know some of the characters that make cameos in this new series. The angst and suspense is good but not that much, this is a spin-off from Dream Man and Rock Chick so it is very similar to those. Definitely enjoying this series.
Kristen Ashley has always been a go to author for me. I love the world she created in Denver and that she has another series weaving in with all the others.
The Dream Team is back in this second book of the series. Ryn and Boone have crossed paths before but Ry has always shied away from Boone. Although they run in the same lifestyle Ryn has her fears due to some family trauma. Boone is an alpha as only KA can write them. He works tirelessly to insert himself in her life and help her realize how great they are together.
With some family dramatics and a mystery Ryn finds herself entangled in this story moves fast and is a very good read. So good to get back to this world and see how all the characters are doing over the years. Looking forward to more from the Dream Team!
I wanted to love this story, I really did. Kristen Ashley is one of my comfort read authors. She has great worldbuilding, amazing descriptions and in-depth stories that really pull you in. I really liked the previous book in this series, Dream Maker and I was hopeful for Dream Chaser. Some of my fellow reviewers have highlighted the issues with this book, including the harmful description of Hawk as a “mutt”, fat-shaming, the problematic depiction of the D/s relationship between Boone and Ryn, and the “evil woman” tropes. I absolutely agree with all these observations and problems with the book and want to add my own issue as well. What bothered me about this book, in addition, is well, it’s boring. Honestly, I read it a few days ago and I have a hard time picking out all of the plot points because they were forgettable. The description states that Ryn’s niece and nephew were in danger from the outside forces in Ryn’s life but they really weren’t. There is a scene or two where Ryn is in danger but it was quickly resolved. I know that the Rock Chick series is over the top and the heroines stupidly put themselves into unnecessary danger but at least that’s interesting, even if it’s annoying. The Rock Chick stories move quickly but Dream Chaser did not. Part of that too is that Ryn and Boone’s story was very tied to the overarching storyline of this series and it wasn’t resolved in Dream Chaser so the ending didn’t have closure. This book was just… dull. Yes, there were scenes that made me tear up, especially when Boone was making stupid choices that hurt Ryn. But overall, I was just bored with this story, and that, combined with the problematic issues, means that this will not be a Kristen Ashley book I will reread. All of that being said, I did go back and reread some of my favorite KA books after finishing Dream Chaser so maybe that’s the silver lining in this…
*Received a free copy from the publisher.
Boone wants Ryn. Ryn wants Boone. But Ryn won’t let Boone in because… well, only she knows the answer to that. It seemed, to me, that she was a bit lost with her own logic. If she didn’t get it, how could I? And how could Boone? After asking and being turned away repeatedly, it’s no wonder he went somewhere else. So why is Ryn all torn up about it? And why is Boone still looking out for her? And why is she mad at him for looking out for her? Ah, the drama… you were missed!
Getting into the heart of this story wouldn’t be right. It needs to be experienced. You need to take this journey for yourself, to find out why Boone and Ryn were perfect for each other. You need to learn, through these words, how KA was able to capture the true essence of these characters, bringing them to life, highlighting their flaws and bestowing us with their virtues. Boone was one heck of a hero. Such a good man. And Ryn gave just as good as she got.
There was chaos, bits of suspense, familiar faces, new alliances, and the setup for what I believe will be the love story to follow — I can’t be the only one who was feeling all there was to feel with Axl and Hattie.
I don’t think there’s anything in the world quite like getting lost in a book by Kristen Ashley. Dream Chaser is said to be a spin-off of two of my favorite series (Dream Man and Rock Chick) and if Boone and Ryn are any indication, this seems about right. Whether it was Boone’s alphaness or Ryn’s independence or the camaraderie of the larger group that convinced me, it doesn’t even matter. I enjoyed every word!

Reading a new Kristen Ashley book is like finding a Christmas present in July. It is always a treasured treat. There is just something so special about this author and the way that she crafts her story and characters that are unlike anyone else out there. It is part of the reason that in a world of acronyms that just saying KA and people automatically know what the letters stand for.
I am loving this new series of interconnected standalones. There is an underlying story that seems to be intermixed and leaves a little bit of a mystery to be carried over into the next book. I am not sure how she manages to do this considering that the story is finished but not finished at the same time. In this case, the “bad guy” from Evie and Mag’s story is in this one too, however, he isn’t a bad guy, just his actions haven’t always been conducive to being a standup guy. I actually really hope that he gets his own story because there is something special about this character. He fits in with the typical OTT KA man and I dig that.
I was expecting this to be more BDSM focused since the sneak peek from the previous book talked about Boone being a Dom and Ryn being a sub. However, I really didn’t find that to be the case in this story. Boone reminded me of every other KA hero with his OTT possessive, dominating characteristics while also being caring and attentive. He liked being in control like all of the other guys. I am not saying that as a bad thing because trust me it wasn’t. I just was expecting that it would take the direction of the Honey trilogy and that was not the case at all. I thoroughly enjoyed Boone and how he was with Ryn. Ryn was a solid female character. I did have a few issues with her but that had more to do with the backstory of her niece and nephew. I had a hard time wrapping my head around how far the author went in making a point with her niece and that entire situation. However, I did like that there was a change in regard to a certain situation with one of the parents of her niece and nephew.
I can never recommend enough how amazing this author is. Granted, I really won’t have to since just her initials alone show how huge her following is, and with good reason. This book is just another example of that. There were hints of what and who is to come next and I look forward to that. Another hit for this author
Dream Chaser is book 2 in the Dream Team series, and after being introduced to Ryn & Boon in book 1 I was definitely excited for their story. This book was definitely a lot different than I was expecting, though.
I really enjoyed these characters, especially Ryn. She was a badass, but also totally real – full of fears, loyal to a fault & putting everyone else before herself. She knows exactly what she wants, and won’t stop until she gets there, no matter how long it takes. Boon takes Alpha to the extreme but was also a closet mama’s boy which I really enjoyed.
Story-wise, though, I think there was just a little too much going on for me. I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters and was drawn in by the drama at the beginning. But by the end, I felt like there were 5 different storylines going on, and I don’t think we received closure on any of them. I think something that long-time fans will love is how many old characters pop in & tie this to her other series but, at least for me, I think it was just a lot to keep straight. That being said, I am interested to see how the underlying storyline plays out throughout the rest of the series.
I LOVED this book! This is my favorite in the series so far. It has all the great story lines in one phenomenal story; love, mystery and family drama. Throw in some smoking hotness, fun characters and intense plots and you’ve got a classic Kristen Ashley book! As usual, this author creates female leads that are tough, independent women who throw out snark like its confetti. Yet, they all have an inner soft core that’s highly compassionate. They’re encountering hardships that only the perfect alpha man can combat, alongside his spit fire gal, that is.
Cue Boone and Ryn! Great multi-layered characters! Ryn’s the woman of steel carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders as she cares for all of her family members. And Boone, swoon!!! He’s perfect for her! Then there is Ryn’s niece and nephew…OMG I was in tears! Kristen Ashley definitely put me through the emotional wringer with this one.
It was hilarious how the Rock Chick bet was mentioned in this story and I can’t wait to see if it will carry on in the next installment. I also enjoyed seeing beloved characters! This book has the previous characters appearing in a more organic way that flowed so well! And the Madonna costume idea was awesome!
Although I didn’t want the story to end, it could not have had a more perfect ending!
I am intrigued with the new character, Dorian, that was introduced. Hmm. I am hoping there is a story in the works for him! My heart is already hurting for Hattie! I am eagerly waiting for her story, and so glad Axel is waiting in the wings for her.
Dream Chaser is an entertaining read I highly recommend!
Love, Mystery and Family Drama….what could possibly go wrong? I don’t know about you guys, but that is the perfect recipe for a KA read. Dream Chaser was a fabulous read and takes readers on one heck of a ride…
When it comes to her niece and nephew, there isn’t anything Ryn won’t do. She’s hardworking and has a heart of gold. To some, her life could be considered chaotic, and the last thing she’s looking for is Boone. Boone loves the challenge that Ryn presents and will do anything to show Ryn how good they could be together. But being with Ryn is anything but simple….
Dream Chaser is the kind of fun read that you expect from KA. Ryn and Boone are a couple you can easily connect with and find yourself rooting for. I loved all the drama, chaos, romance and cameos in between. In true KA fashion, Boone and Ryn’s story had me glued to the pages and devouring all the words.
Dream Chaser is a great addition to the Dream Team Series. The characters were a lot of fun and there certainly was never a dull moment!! I enjoyed getting swept up in Boone & Ryn’s story and I look forward to seeing where this series will take us next!
3.5 stars. This was a pretty good book, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first book in the series. Dream Chaser is Ryn (Kathryn) and Boone’s story. Ryn is a stripper friend of Lottie’s and an aspiring house flipper. She bought a house and planned to flip it, but has been having to use her extra money to help support her sister in law, neice and nephew because her brother is an alcoholic. She also has struck up a weird friendship of sorts with Cisco, who we met in the previous book, and who is a misunderstood criminal accused of killing a police officer. Boone is a security guy and member of Hawk’s crew, as well as friends with the other guys in the previous book. He and Ryn have had an interest in each other, but Ryn has turned down his advances. She has had so much on her plate that she hasn’t been able to find time to date. Boone started dating someone else. But everything comes to a perfect storm when Ryn’s family drama and Cisco drama come to a head, putting her in danger and in need of protection from Boone, who is ready to convince Ryn to take a shot on him.
I enjoyed this story. I liked Ryn and Boone. I just didn’t feel very much chemistry between them. I didn’t like that they had a D/s relationship because it didn’t feel like it was written well. I am glad though that it wasn’t like the Honey series in it’s raunchiness. It just felt like inauthentic BDSM light and I didn’t like the leashing aspect. KA’s usual man-speak didn’t fit with a dom’s personality either, in my opinion. I wish the BDSM had been left out. I do like reading BDSM, but do not enjoy KA’s version of it. But the story was pretty good. It kept my attention and I felt the love between the couple. I liked the house flipping aspect, as well as being able to catch up with the other couples in the series.
Overall, this was an entertaining read. While I didn’t completely love it, it was worth reading and enjoyable in general. I am liking this series, though, and I look forward to more from it and Ms. Ashley in the future.
Ryn and Boone’s story was a sweet read. I loved the strong friendships-male and female-featured throughout the book. My other favorite bits were those stripped bare, emotional moments between Boone and Ryn that really got to the core of each character and shaped them in to who they were. My main dissatisfaction was that I would have liked more time spent on Boone and Ryn’s developing relationship, but Ryn’s dramas and the plethora of cameos took on a life of its own and just ran…
Overall, I enjoyed a lot about the book and have pegged whom I’m most interested in seeing get together!
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley/Grand Central Publishing and this is my honest review.
Ryn Jansen is fiercely independent after being burned by relationships in the past. She has her own dreams that she would love to see fulfilled, but her family always needs something and she wants to help those she loves. She turned Boone down because she doesn’t have time for another relationship to fail and it scares her a little that she can see how well they would fit.
Boone Sadler isn’t one to sit around waiting, so when Ryn turned him down, he wasn’t deterred but didn’t sit around pining either. He wants to be her protector, and when he learns she has problems circling because of her earlier kidnapping, as well as family problems, he vows to be there to help her out of her jams.
These two are a great fit, even if Ryn is hesitant to give Boone a chance. They have similar interests in bed, and as they spend more time together they find they click out of the bedroom as well. They each have their own issues to sort out, some more secret than others.
I loved returning to the world of the Dream Chicks and Rock Chicks. The cameos and appearances by familiar favorites adds a little fun to this series. But at its core, this new group of women (and the men Lottie has matched them up with) has its own battles to wage, storms to weather, and antagonists to best. Dream Chaser picks up the series arc started in Dream Maker, but I suppose a new reader would be ok picking this up. There would be Dream Maker spoilers, but I think enough of the background for this story is included that new readers wouldn’t be lost.
In a lot of ways it feels like the classic Rock Chick stories, which fits as this is essentially a next generation of women following in the Rock Chick steps. KA’s worlds are rich and deep, even if the stories have overlapping themes and familiar lines. I am looking forward to more from this series. There are 2 more pairs that have been “matched” by Lottie and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them.

I absolutely love how Kristen Ashley tells a story, pulling me into a rich and detailed world with well thought out characters with so much depth. I always feel like I’m a part of it, caught up in everything. Dream Chaser was such an amazing story filled with intrigue, heart, and passion. I loved it!
I am back on the Kristen Ashley wagon and I didn’t realized I missed book one of the Dream Team series. So I am definitely running back to that book stat!!
I did fall in love with Dream Chaser. It felt so good to be reunited with olde KA characters, especially the Rock Chicks! This book was like coming home for me. I loved Ryn and Boone. I fell for the whole Dream Team! This book is full of drama and angst. I enjoyed every page of it. It was exciting to see how the story played out. This story has a lot of heart ache and mends that puts it back together. We have our villains in this story and some may not be redeemed.
Dream Chaser is the book for 2020! You can read this book as a standalone like I did, but I bet you will be craving book one as much as I am because I need to know what happened before!!! #BookRec2020
3.5 stars
The first book in this series had got me interested in each characters and potential couples. Dream Chaser was Ryn and Boone’s story. The underlying suspense of what will happen and also the budding relationship between the two main characters were great and kept me reading on. It was fascinating to see where this story would go. I enjoyed the friendships of the guys and the girls respectively. It was definitely a team atmosphere amongst the groups. I also liked each character individually. The Dream Team series are interconnected standalones and am intrigued to see how the connected storyline will play out and also the journey of the two remaining couples. Overall, Dream Chaser was a good read.
Ryn and Boone – SWOON! Dream Chaser finds our house flipping stripper Ryn down and out in a really bad way. Crazy ex-sister in law demands she no longer has access to her darling niece and nephew after bilking Ryn of thousands of dollars in the guise of caring for the kids – while that crazy is actually out getting massages with the kid’s cash.
Boone is an ex-military hottie security “specialist” working under Hawk (from KA’s Dream man series.) He’s dealing with his ex-BFF’s suicide while obsessing over Ryn and her drama. Sounds like a lot? Yep – but it works! He is our typical Alpha guy keeping track of Ryn and finally catches her when he and his posse need to guard her from the “not so bad guy” Cisco and some rouge dirty cops.
In typical KA fashion, the baddie kidnaps (kind of) Ryn. On top of that Ryn strikes up an unusual “friendship” with the mafia type bad guy…..who maintains he was framed so maybe he is a not so bad guy? She then leads her bodyguard hot guys (from the Chaos and Dream Men series) around town – a mall stop, of course, and a drive by the home she is flipping. These guys can’t help but take over her house flipping rehab. If you are a Kristen Ashley connoisseur, you will recognize all the names. One thing that I did appreciate was that this book was not as inundated with all those characters in every scene which tends to overwhelm KA books.
Ryn and Boone’s love story is sweet. Their connection slowly develops even though both were pretty stubborn at first flirt. Lots of couple time without the typical “interruptions” and a little “D/s lite” sexy times! I really enjoyed both characters even with their baggage – Ryn’s daddy issues seem to dominate her internal struggles as well. One of the best lines from Ryn about her Dream Team gals: “So, the rundown was, my dad was an absent dick. Evie’s dad was a neglectful dick. Pepper’s dad was a judgmental dick. And Hattie’s dad was an actively evil, children’s-animated-film-villain-level dick.”
Dream Chaser is a fun, sexy contemporary romance from our darling Kristen Ashley. This story will resonate with the Rock Chick crowd – BUT you do not need to have read all those series to enjoy this book. Having personally read Dream Maker (the first in this series) does give some background to the group of ladies on this “Dream Team” but is also not required pre-reading. Our authorette sets up Hattie and Axl for the next installment and I am all for it!
