“What would happen if I just kept driving?”
Moms aren’t supposed to have a life of their own, at least that’s what Becca Thompson believes. Between dealing with her youngest’s never ending tantrums, her teenager’s attitude and her ailing father’s rapidly failing memory, Becca doesn’t have time to worry about who she used to be.
Deep down, Becca knows she wants more than the daily chaos and the … daily chaos and the quick fixes her self-help books have to offer, but when her husband starts demanding more, the pressure proves to be too much. On the way to pick up her daughter, she makes the split second decision to take a different exit off the freeway and drives towards the mountains leaving her crumbling life in the rear-view mirror.
Fleeing to a remote mountain town, Becca knows she must rediscover her spirit, even if reconnecting with herself comes at the expense of everything she left behind.

I give it 4 stars. A woman can identify with the book
Easy, fun read. Uplifting…
This book was not at all what i expected. Thought provoking and some times painful.
Sad story of a tormented wife and mother who faces a melt down due to the pressures of being a wife and mother under duress. She must face her situation and make life changing decisions. Very enlightening.
Real world issue with a nice ending.
A beautiful written novel about finding yourselves. Real life over takes us sometime and we find ourselves lost and not knowing just who we are. Sometimes it take a break in our everyday life to find out just who we are so that we can come back to be with our loved ones again and be ourselves. This is a story of one wife and mother who needed to …
I didn’t want the story to come to an end. Whether or not you agree with all of the character’s actions, you can relate to what they’re feeling on a deep level. I loved this book.
Terrifically memorable introspective enlightening story!
This was such an original story. I can remember many years ago when I was a young mother to two kids and a busy husband, how I would have loved to run off and escape my chaotic life for somewhere peaceful with no interruptions. This story was wonderfully written and I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it. I highly recommend it.
Kept my interest.
enjoyed the heroine discovering her past
Woman finding herself after realizing her talents were still a part of her. Some times women need alone time to recharge and find themselves.
Fun light read I enjoyed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Enjoyed the character development and though not a complete “happy ending”, revealed a strong and compassionate main character. Couldn’t put it down!!
Another story about a woman finding herself again.
Inspirational in that I could identify with the character and I enjoyed her journey.
The main character in this book starts out flaky, kind of without form, as did the story. However, that did make a big change after the first section.
I totally identify with Becca, I wanted to do what she did so badly. In the end though I sought help. Ive been married now 45 years and wouldn’t change a thing. It helps to know there are other people who feel the same way. Loved the book.
Very good read. Perfect for that weekend curled up on the couch
