From Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile and Sisters!
Callie loves theater. And while she would totally try out for her middle school’s production of Moon over Mississippi, she can’t really sing. Instead she’s the set designer for the drama department’s stage crew, and this year she’s determined to create a set worthy of Broadway on … Broadway on a middle-school budget. But how can she, when she doesn’t know much about carpentry, ticket sales are down, and the crew members are having trouble working together? Not to mention the onstage AND offstage drama that occurs once the actors are chosen. And when two cute brothers enter the picture, things get even crazier!

I think this is an awesome book.
It’s so funny and realistic I recommend this 100%
I think that Callie had the perfect personality and that this book has a great author to illustrate how not many adults see the teen life.
I confess, it’s my own fault, because I didn’t read ANYTHING about this book before I got it from the library. I even showed it to my teenage daughter because SHE was the one who first showed me, and owns, and likes (so did I) “Sisters” and “Smile.” I just read “Guts,” and so did she, and we liked them as well. So we read “Drama.” And we didn’t like it because we are saddened when there are books about homosexuality and it’s all accepted as okay and just part of who you are instead of a sinful choice with serious consequences. Other than that, great book, but it kind of WAS A LOT of this book, so nope. So sorry, little daughter. I didn’t know what I was handing you. She’s old enough at least I don’t feel completely horrible about handing it to her. She know the Truth by now and has also met people who struggle with trying to live a homosexual lifestyle. Other than that, the book was funny and did show some of the complications of life in middle school and how things can go when everybody starts meeting and like-liking each other, and the camaraderie of good friends, and setting boundaries, and learning new things, and stretching yourself and …yep, we could’ve liked it, but sorry, we didn’t. Or we did, but wished it was different. Maybe that’s a better way to put it. Oh. Well, I just read a preview of the book by BookBub and Goodreads, like, the teaser or whatever, and it didn’t give us any red flags either. Interesting.

I really love this book. I have read it once in school and I have been searching for a free book online to read at home. But because I don’t have money I can’t get it. I really wish that there was a way for me to rent it without having to buy it. Or at least download it. I’m just really sad now.
