After having gone through about 50 new stories that I didn’t make it past the first chapter, I happened across this gem! Well written, great characters, well done plot, this is just a joy, AND it’s the first in a series, so YAY! I loved the interweaving of the plot line, with Sarah stumbling across information she shouldn’t, and making the decision to seek out Darius to warn him, while not having the least clue that this is all very real! The story line was played out skillfully and realistically, and I had a wonderful journey with this story.. and the next ones! I’m already on book 3 at the time I’m writing this, and have the rest on my Kindle waiting!
Great first book in what promises to be a great series. Full of action, supernatural elements to keep the reader engaged till the very end.
I really liked this book. I love dragon shifters and the hero’s in this series are the perfect balance of hot and alpha but romantic. Fated mates. Its what I write and what I love to read. So great to find a great author who has more of what I love to read.
After falling so deeply in love with The Forgotten Brotherhood series by N.J. Walters, I added her all of her books to my to-read list. Drakon’s Promise is the first in a series about dragon shifters and I was super excited to read it because… DRAGONS!!
Darius – a four thousand year old drakon, he has only feared one thing… either himself or one of his brothers being captured by the Knights of the Dragon, where they would be tortured and drained for the power in their blood. This was a fear he was familiar with, however, when he met Sarah, he realized that his long, lonely existence would never be the same and that fear for her safety was a whole other terror of its own.
Sarah – quiet and unassuming, she had a special affinity for objects, especially books. Her new job comes with new problems and when she finds out her new boss intends to kidnap and possibly kill someone (Darius), she feels duty bound to warn him.
Karina Azarov – a young, ruthless woman who happened to be the learder of the Knights.
I absolutely loved Darius and I’m intrigued by his brothers. I’ll definitely be continuing this series because I have to know how these drakons eradicate the Knights. While this story was just as brilliantly written as I expected it to be, the heroine was a drag and took away from how much I could have enjoyed it.
Paranormal and love go so well together!
Let’s put total opposites, throw them into a life-threatening situation, throw in a lot of steamy chemistry and what do you get? Darius and Sarah’s story! He is a human/dragon and she is destined to be his…
Full of heat and deadly suspense, oh this read had it all along with a courtship like no other. Neither Darius nor Sarah expected to find love when she was running for her life, but find it they did. They blustered and protested as they dodged life-threatening enemies and literary grenades (I loved that wrench in the works!) but there was no running away from love…
I devoured this read in one sitting and, while these two have their HEA, there is a lot more to come. Dragons and single brothers? Yeah, I can’t wait!
*I happily reviewed this story

I loved this book, I hadn’t read anything by this author before, but will look for her in the future! There was mystery, adventure, and really good romance! Would highly recommend!
I didn’t think I would enjoy a dragon shifter story. Surprise! I love wolf shifter novels but hate anything to do with vampires. This was my first dragon book and I’ll look for more from this author.
Drakon’s Promise is book one in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters. This brand new series brings together a unique set of characters, suspense, mystery, and romance.
It’s a great start with lots of interesting plot twists, turns, and action. We get a good amount of world building and explaining on who The Knights of the Dragon. I liked the setup and premise of the story. The plot was thrilling and full of mystery. We are kept on our toes.
Sarah captivated me from the start. I really liked her. She’s brave and honorable while wanting to stand on her own two feet. I also liked that she’s a librarian with a unique skill set. Darius is sexy, charming, and a gentlemen. He is also a drakon.
Though Sarah and Darius have feelings for each other they aren’t “insta” and they both go through some concerns as to why they are attracted to each other. These two go on a wild ride and through it their connection and chemistry grow as does the danger. As for their romance I didn’t fully feel the connection between them, but they were still enjoyable characters to read about.
The only two issues with me and they are minor detail oriented. Sarah mentions coffee a lot and drinks way too much coffee. Their was such a big emphasis on coffee. Don’t they drink other hot beverages, like tea and cocoa. And, the second thing was Sarah sits down to do some research and put feelers out, but Sarah never got back online to see if anyone had replayed. The characters in this scene just move onto the brothers idea. Why put this in the story if you aren’t going to explore it? It felt like filler material.
Drakon’s Promise had a lot to savor. I liked the idea of the Drakons and the Knights. I liked the world building and characters introduced. I very much enjoyed learning a little about Darius brothers and look forward to each of their stories. We get an intriguing set up for the next installment in the Blood of the Drakon series that really has my interest peaked.

LOVED this story and went on to buy all the rest of the series. If you enjoy shifter novels with unique world building, give NJ Walters a try. Her characters are awesome and the romance sizzles off the page.
Loved it. Am lookin forward to reading more of this series.
This was more fun than expected, and the world building was the reason I’ll grab more in this series.
I am new to this author and I loved this book. It was action packed and has great characters.
Love dragon books. This one was a quick read and I loved the characters
Read entire series straight through! Really enjoyed characters & plots. Did not want to end. I want more!!!!
I tried to like this book but I found it rather annoying to read how big this man was all the time. So after a few chapters, I just gave up because I knew I would feel put out with the Tiny’s heroine compared to the Big Hero. I didn’t think it was a comedy
Very well written, great character development. Just enough suspense with an overlay of romance to keep you turning the pages. It’s part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. Other characters are introduced and developed enough to intrigue the reader into wanting to read the whole series, but not in a contrived way. Very good book.
The book had promise … an interesting premise but I didn’t feel that the book delivered and that’s why I only gave it a three star rating. It is highly readable, and I was kept interested enough to keep reading to the end. But the book never delivered. By making the Drakons “billionaires” with all kinds of gadgetry at their disposal, I felt the author took the easy way out. There was no plot, there were no action, and there were no conclusion. It seems that instead of mesmerizing the readers with the prowess of a drakon, the author fell back on the power of money and sex as the dual pillar of the story. I just find it hard to believe that if pure evil is supposed to be chasing you, that you have the time and relaxation to be pursuing sex at each turn. And if you can always keep one step ahead of your enemy by hopping onto your private ultra luxury jet and flying off to your private island, well, there’s not much tension left in your story to tell.
Fun book that is hard to put down. Author emerses readers in a world of dragons and secret cults. I finished this book and immediately bought the next one!
Great start to this series!
Fun and easy read.
