This isn’t how I saw my life going. It’s not what was supposed to happen and damn it, I want to live my dreams! As if. Every day it becomes clearer that I’m going to be the Mary Poppins of Tajss. I do love helping with all my friends’ half-Zmaj, half-human babies but it also fuels the empty ache of wanting one of my own to hold and raise. None of the human men that survived hold my interest and … survived hold my interest and there aren’t any of the Adonis-like, seven foot winged and scaled alien dragons unspoken for, leaving me destined for a life without that heart-stopping, throat-clenching, breath-taking love that I desire.
Then he shows up. Strange, mysterious, and so damn big and sexy. An unknown Zmaj.
The golden-eyed dragon warrior is not welcomed with open arms but my heart knows what it wants and he’s it. Now I have to figure out how to make it work without losing all my friends along the way.

Even though this is my first time reading a book in this series, I really enjoyed reading this story. This is the most “magical” dragon shifter I have ever read about. I like him because he is not arrogant about his abilities, I would have liked a little more insight in regards to his secret though. I didn’t like the way the tribe treated him at all, that may be the norm for the series but it rubbed me the wrong way. He is very smart, patient and adventurous, their chemistry is very well written and I think Nora needs to and can be much more than Mary Poppins and hope her character will grow as the series progresses. I am voluntarily reviewing a free copy.
A Zmaj of mystery, and he’s full of secrets. Nora is instantly smitten, but he won’t even look in her direction, will he? Their story is sweet and passionate and full of adventure (which Nora is Not Ready For!). I loved it!
Tajss is full of surprises with its secrets and hidden abilities as a planet…the invaders also present a new threat to all Tajss communities.
So when the man in her vision through Zoe arrives Nora fights the attraction while the Tribe is suspicious. I liked how the author brings a new mystery as well as characters to the front in this episode.

Nora turned away from the approaching Zmaj rather than have to interact with them. The threat of the invaders has stressed them and they were on edge. Nora was caring for 3 of the dragonlings while their parents were on patrol. It makes her long for her own such children, but none of the dragons ever paid her any attention. She was always too shy and tried to be invisible. Now there were no more available Zmaj left. All had mated with one of the women survivors.
After the story Nora tells the children, she lies down next to Zoe who is still wide awake. Zoe turns Nora’s face to look into her eyes, and suddenly Nora sees a gorgeous Zmaj she has never seen before. He is extremely attractive and powerful. Moments later, his image disappears and she is again staring into Zoe’s eyes. She recalls rumors that a few of the couples were developing weird telepathic connections that may somehow be linked to the dragon babies. Could that be what just happened? Zoe fell asleep and Nora got a notebook from Penelope and began to sketch the man whose image she had seen.
Nora and Delilah play a board game, then go off to sleep. Immediately Nora dreams, seeing a small figure below her walking across the sand. And she hears the children chanting, “The Enforcer is coming to free us all.” What does that mean? The dream feels like a strange message.
Archion fights against the wind as he carries a scroll across the desert to return it to the Order. He hears a sound and quietly looks over the next dune to see a camp of invaders. He covers with sand to keep watching them until dark; but one on patrol steps directly onto his leg and stumbles. He kills it, but the camp surges toward him and he must escape so they don’t get the scroll. Outrunning them, he senses movement nearby and a Cherepakh attacks him. He is able to blind it, but he is wounded from the sharp teeth. Now the dangerous animal listens to locate Archion’s position, but he moves quickly to disorient it. The battle continues until he is able to pierce its brain, cut off a small portion of meat to sustain him for a few days, and continue his mission. However, his instincts this time urges him in another direction and he follows it. Searching within for why, he senses an energy implying females – but he has not seen a female in a very long time.
Nora is picked up meteorite glass with the others. They are moving farther away and farther apart. She starts feeling anxious, as if danger is approaching. Much later, she hears Zoe shout DUCK! She sees nothing, but heeds the warning in her head and yells to the team to duck down, right before the Invaders shoot their deadly weapons. If they had not ducked down, they would have been killed! As their 3 Zmaj form a protective shield for the woman, Nora sees movement to the right and the Zmaj she dreamed about is standing on top of the dune! The battle starts, and although their warriors are good, the stranger is even better skilled! The Zmaj destroy these Invaders, but Archion feels their distrust toward him; but the Order containing the highest skilled dragons in the land, swore him to secrecy. Each hidden group of the Order carries a piece of a puzzle they have been charged to protect by the planet’s consciousness. He could not tell them anything. But the warriors knew that without him, they may not have won this fight. Then, as another creature comes up from the sand, Archion shouts a warning and fights it. The other Zmaj join him as he kills the creature. Nora begins to notice that the other Zmaj are warming to him now, beginning to trust him. How will this amazing Zmaj fit into her life? Is she his? What is his mission with the scroll about? And will he become a part of their tribe or return to the Order?
This was a really good book in the series! It seemed that the author went into much more detail, such as with Archion’s fight scene with the beast. That makes it much more realistic, almost like the reader is right there watching the action! She also is very good at bringing out the characters to the reader so that despite all of the people in a scene, the reader knows each one. The whole series is awesome, but this book really drew me in and maintained the excitement all the way through.
I am a fan of reading sci-fi based romance series but sometimes the steam goes out of the concept and they get repetitive or flat feeling. Not these books!
This is the story of Nora a fringe character for several books and Archion a stranger. It is a nice infusion of new fodder for the red planet. I love Nora’s story from when we first met her several books back through her own book. I appreciate so much that the ladies in the series are all very much their own people. Nora is a supporter, caregiver and generally shy person which was nice to read as a lot of sci-fi heroines are not this type. Archion is by his own design a closed book, cloaked in many mysteries but he just can’t stay away from Nora. They are slower to come together than other couples in the series but in a very good way. It was very interesting to see Archion’s outsider perspectives on the groups I’ve been reading about for so long.
I can’t wait to learn more about the group Archion belongs to as these are looking to be some seriously bad a** Zmaj males. There are some very tantalizing threads teased about this group and one of my favorite things in the series is the interaction of the factions on the planet. A bit more of the planet as a character itself is teased too which I find fascinating. So many hints and mysteries to look forward to without feeling like I missed out on anything in this book.
This book certainly could be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading the series to deepen the enjoyment.

Miranda Martin I was super scared when we saw the last available Zmaj sex god get claimed in the last book. Was it the end of the Zmaj-human love stories???? I went into panic mode until I realized Miranda was working on book #14! THANK goodness!!!
I didn’t think it was possible but Miranda has upped the ante. In this most recent installment of the series, we meet Archion, a mystery Zmaj who is not only a newcomer but also a highly skilled one. His first encounter with the Tribe takes place when he is evading the so-called Invaders (aliens who have been wrecking havoc on the Zmaj-human mini-society) and follows his intuition to pursue a specific kind of energy that feels ‘female’. Of course he is shocked because he has not seen or felt a female on Tajss in like forever. His intuition serves him well because not only does he come across fellow Zmajs, but also human females. Almost immediately he feels drawn to Nora, and the magnetic pull is most certainly mutual! But Archion has his secrets and due to the loyalty he feels to his people, he holds his secrets dear, causing suspicion among the Tribe. Nora finds herself battling between giving herself completely over to a stranger who feels more like her mate than any of the Zmaj she has been living with for the past years. But she is conflicted between listening to her heart and heeding the obvious signs: Archion will not reveal his secrets and thus continue to be a mystery/threat to the Tribe. Can these two destined mates overcome suspicion and turmoil or will they be separated by secrets? You MUST read to find out!
