Dragon Prince Nikolai Vassago’s day starts out fairly normal: get up, kick some ass, fondle his beard, take some names. One minute he’s participating in a run-of-the-mill mission, and the next minute, he’s rescuing Brooklyn, the woman that is fated to be his, from the clutches of a criminal mastermind.Nikolai is quite pleased with his fated mate. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Brooklyn.… said for Brooklyn.
Living in a religious commune for the majority of her life meant Brooklyn wasn’t exposed to all of the outside world’s craziness. The moment she turned eighteen, she was off and running towards whatever new experiences the outside world could give her.
In her quest to experience it all, she tends to jump into situations without weighing the potential consequences until it’s too late. Brooklyn just wants to be free to make her own decisions and live her life as she pleases. But in her quest to save herself from the limitations of her old commune life, she lands herself in a dangerous situation, and Nikolai swoops in to her rescue, throwing her on the back of his dragon and flying off into the night.
He’s a man-with-a-plan kind of guy, and she’s a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants (not on the back of a dragon!) kind of girl.
Nikolai, however, has fate on his side, and whether she is ready to accept her fate or not, it won’t be denied. Brooklyn’s stubborn, though, and Nikolai will need to use all of his powers to show her that she’s exactly where she needs to be.
more
It was Nikolai’s turn to find his mate and she just happened to be the unconscious, broken girl he rescued from a Purist compound. In the last book, I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie, Brooklyn’s uncle attacked the dragon riders, shot her, and tortured her as a means to an end. Family, right? Nikolai felt a compelling urge to rescue her, not having a clue that once he touched her, he’d never be able to let her go. She was his destiny and her life had changed… even if it happened while she lay sleeping.
What we get:
DRAGONS
insanely hot sex between two characters who were simply adorable with one another
we get to learn more about the powers Nikolai shares with his dragon (and now Brooklyn)
more is revealed about the Purists plot to destroy dragons and dragon riders
Brooklyn finds herself in trouble and I loved how Nikolai saved her
we’re gifted with more of the funny, loving, and intriguing lives of these riders. I loved getting more of Keifer & Blythe’s story, even if it ended up being a bit terrifying for them (and me)
I’ve discovered that Ian’s story is next and I’m hoping that I’ll find out why both Keifer and Nikolai treat him the way they do. They’ve both told their women to stay away from him and I have to wonder why that is. He’s obviously trusted or he wouldn’t be in the sanctuary or part of their group. So what’s the deal? I’m more than a little invested in this series because not only is it full of well-rounded characters and a hysterically funny but deep plot, it’s both light and heavy and entertaining as heck and I can only cajole/wheedle/whine/beg/bribe/threaten that more of these books are created. Each dragon rider needs his very own story and I’m off to start Ian’s.
made it through 3 chapters
I really liked this story!
Oh goodness I laugh like a loon in this bookthese dragons act like little boys who doesn’t get their way. They love hard, they’re protective, but not to mention their mates are just as crazy as them, great read author lani Lynn vale.
Really liked this second installment in the Dragon series! It was full of surprises, magic, laughter (thank you Perdita!), some close calls with tears & it left me with a lot of questions. (I can never know enough about these dragon riders!) Nikolai & Brooklyn don’t quite take the favorite couple title from Keifer & Blythe but they sure come close!
Nikolai… Loved so much about this man! Still a little confused about his “blood phobia” but everything else… Oh, yeah… I get him. *wink wink* His intelligence, his bedroom skills, the way he harnesses his magic … it all amps up his alpha hotness & that is KILLER. And his relationship with Perdita is so cute & funny!
Brooklyn… Loved seeing her come into her powers, her new “title”, her adventurous side aka the things she “projected” to Nikolai… Those things were all a bunch of fun. I have to admit though, she annoyed me a tiny bit. I know she wanted to be #1 & come first (everyone in a relationship does, I get it, & it makes sense) but HELLO… you’re in a slightly different situation from the norm here. Stop the whining, please, because you are totally awesome other than that!
Odds & ends… Perdita (Nikolai’s dragon) was great. Loved Blythe & Keifer… especially that ovary-exploding moment in the hospital. The Fairy dragons were adorable. Skylar is sweet- totally want more about her! And… the other dragon riders remain a mystery that I just can’t wait to unravel… especially Ian.
OMG, that epilogue… told through Ian’s POV… WTF is going on with Farrow?! I’m confused & have so many questions about that situation he created BUT… bring on Ian’s story. Farrow can go pout in the corner while Ian gets his happily ever after. 🙂
Great read
A different spin on the Paranormal connection between a rider and a dragon. A must read highly recommended book.
This book was just okay. Interesting premise but execution left me annoyed. This book needs more explanation in the beginning so that readers understand who people are and why they are bad. I.e., Uncle Joe is referenced in the beginning but then nothing more. And at the end her brother is definitely a bad guy but why? Seems contrived and convenient.
Formatting drove me crazy. I didn’t realize I was at the end because it went straight in another book sample AND then yet another book sample. I ended up getting irritated. Not a good way to close a book.
I just finished the first 2 books in this series and I can’t wait to read the next. This is a nice twist on dragon tales. If you are a fan of fantasy and dragons then I highly recommend this series!
Might have been better if I had read the first book, but hard to tell…. did not have a good flow in the storyline
Didn’t make sense to me, guess you need to read book 1 first.
WOW! A must read.
Lani Lynn Vale made the fantastical believable with enough heat and plot turns to keep the reader engaged. I couldn’t wait to read the next book in the series to learn the story of other intriguing characters introduced in Dragons Need to Love, Too.
Started out slow but when you got into it was quite good. Could not wait to see how the next book turned out.
I loved and adored everything about this story. It was exciting, thrilling, and fun.
This is the second in this dragons series, I do suggest you read the first as the running plot and returning characters are all up in this book.
So this leaves off where book one ended, Brooklyn hurt and in a coma, Nikolai knowing that they are mates, but not really knowing who Brooklyn is and just waiting for her to get better while things are figured out with … the bad guys. lol Don’t want to give away too much. Once Brooklyn wakes up, things really take off and it was fast paced till the end.
AMAZING! is really what I can say about this. This played like a movie in my head, I loved it. The sexy times are as always freaking on point, the danger, and drama always with that bit of funny and at the same time that WTF feeling. Lani Lynn Vale is truly an amazing author! 5 stars all the way!
I’m not going to lie. I was disappointed when I figured out that this book was about Nikolai and Brooklyn and not a continuation of Keifer and Blythe’s story. But I read on because I curious about Brooklyn and I instantly liked Nikolai.
The story was pretty good in the fact that its about Nikolai and Brooklyn and their connection to each other. But it was in way as consuming as Keifer and Blythe’s connection. They just kinda were together and their whole relationship was weird, but I think Nikolai is a great partner. We do find out some more things about the dragon riders, although most of it is still a little unclear because the dragon riders themselves don’t know much about it. I also would have liked to see more of the dragon riders battling out/unraveling more of the mystery behind the Purists. They are never seen in this book and only take action twice in this book. Their first appearance is almost not worth mentioning.
I did like Brooklyn for the most part. That is until the end when she acted like a complete brat and it made just unlikable for me. I hate when the female character overreacts and gets all bratty, but the men end up apologizing like she was in the right. I didn’t like that part at all and Brooklyn never even apologized for how she acted.
So maybe I’m a little bit bitter with this book because I love Keifer and Blythe so much. I wish this book would have pushed the bigger story along some more, but it didn’t. As much as I liked Nikolai, these two main character are just not as interesting as Keifer and Blythe. I still enjoyed most of this book and will be reading the next one.
I don’t usually go for super natural books. But the Dragon series is my kryptonite. I love this series. I do believe Lani could make me read any genre and love it.
