Celebrate the holidays on TajssMaeve doesn’t believe in fate and certainly not one that involves her and Padraig, the enormous and domineering alien dragon. His overly protective and possessive nature rubs her the wrong way. Padraig is certain the fiercely independent human female is the only one for him. His inner dragon has decided and the burly smith knows fate’s hand when he feels it. Maeve … when he feels it. Maeve may not, but the harsh deserts of Tajss force the two together, giving the hot-head Zmaj an opportunity.
When the human females plan a new tradition of gift giving, Padraig realizes if he can find his treasure the perfect present, he’ll win her heart. The only gift he wants.

First Christmas in a new home
Dragon’s Gift is a real treat. The humans decide to confront the reality that Tajss is their home, and they make plans for a Christmas-like celebration in order to create new traditions for their new human-Zmaj hybrid civilization. But it’s a war-time celebration – Tajss is under constant bombardment from the bizarre meteor showers which rain flaming rock and turn the desert sands into a strange type of glass. Worse, the Invaders and their drones and warships attack with ever-increasing force, against the human mining settlement, against the Tribe behind its fortified wall, and even against the City and its protective dome. This crazy scenario is the exciting and suspenseful backdrop against which flaming feminist Maeve and ultra cave-man Zmaj Padraig find themselves fated to mate, if they can ever stand to spend time in each other’s company. If these two polar opposites can come together in love and harmony, then surely there can someday be peace on Tajss. A sweet-sexy slow-burn love story and major battle action, new revelations about the strange meteor glass and the characteristics of Tjass, the Red Planet, and suspenseful new plot developments all over the place – Whew! It’s as exciting and heart-stopping and magical as a ride on Santa’s sleigh.

The Tribe women put their heads together with plans to celebrate Christmas with a makeshift tree, presents and a gathering of friends and families. Meanwhile, ongoing attacks by invaders with guns and ships put the Tribe, the city and the mining colony on constant alert shoring up defenses. And throughout all this turmoil going on, Padraig and Maeve fall in love. They are even linked by a piece of meteorite glass each of them has embedded into their bodies, courtesy of a meteorite storm they were trapped in. How very romantic and so mysterious. It is no wonder how much this series enchants me with each new pairing of Zmaj warrior and human female.

survival on a hostile planet requires adapting to the environment – which means getting friendly with the natives.
Maeve seems reluctant to accept the idea of mating with burly blacksmith Padraig – heavens know why. Ok large hunky dragon could be a plus or a minus, but death or hunky dragon mate? easy choice!
Acceptance – and treasure – come in many forms – both require compromise and flexibility to not only survive, but thrive in a crazy foreign and hostile world.
A great fun read if you like atypical shifter romance – and inter-planetary relations take on new meaning!

This is book twelve in the Red Planet Dragons of Tajss series and we get to see how Maeve and Padraig deal with their emotions for each other. As always there is plenty of action and suspense with the continuation of this series. I love the new aspect that the author brought into the storyline and can not wait to see what is in store for the groups with this new spin.

Great story. If you want a good series that all the books are excellent this is the series. This is a great addition to that series. Love the dragon’s and all on this planet. It is exciting, suspenseful, emotional, fun and so much more. I recommend it. I was given a review by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
The saga of Tajss continues and absolutely doesn’t disappoint. Even though this is book 12, it can be read as a stand-alone because much background is revealed during the story. Padraig and Maeve are an interesting couple and because of their “crystals,” I’m sure this won’t be the last that they are featured. Absolutely loved this hot story!

An early Christmas gift…
Ms. Martin has gifted us with an early Christmas gift…. another trip to Tajss. Anyone who has read this series will be familiar with Padraig but do they truly know him? After reading this story they will. Maeve proved to be a perfect balance for him. Lots of question are asked that will set up future books. I love my trips to Tajss and can’t wait for the next one.

I love this series so much! Maeve and Padraig’s story takes things to another level. Surprising developments on both the personal and tribe level with a big WOW at the end will keep you up at bedtime to finish it! 🙂
Maeve noticed a shadow of something outside the safety of the walls. Curiosity won her over and she approached the object which turned out to be a plant. She crouched down and was looking at it when a loud shout startled her! Padraig, one of the Zmaj dragons, came stomping over to tell her it was not safe to be out there and to return at once to safety. It wasn’t what he said but how he said it that angered her so much. The attitude that females had no brains and were not permitted to make decisions!
Mid-morning, Maeve stops cutting up vegetables with Delilah as she rushes out to get the meteorite glass shipment for Errol from the mining village. She looks all around but the shipment she was supposed to be receiving is not waiting for her at the wall. In a panic, she asks the men where it is. When they told her Padraig had taken it, she was livid … again. She tracked him down and screamed at him as he calmly responded that he was helping. She knew she was over-reacting but she could not control herself around him for some reason. She told him not to do her job anymore, snapped at the crowd watching her tantrum, and went back to help Delilah with the vegetables.
At dinner, Penelope joined the other ladies to ask their opinion on an idea. She said now that Tajss was their home, they needed to celebrate holidays together. She suggested they pick a day to designate as Christmas to celebrate giving, sharing, and caring for each another. All the great things that Christmas represents! Everyone enthusiastically agreed. Maeve offered to carry a box of candles to Errol for one of the struggling women – but it was far heavier than she realized. Her arms were burning and she walked right into Padraig! Without a word, he nods toward the heavy box with a question on his face, and she nods, accepting his help. They drop it off to Errol and walk out together as she thanks him and he wishes her a goodnight. Hmmm.
Padraig knows Maeve is not interested in him, despite his doing what a male should do by protecting her and helping her. She is not like the others. When she sees them assigned together for collecting the meteorite glass, he know she will not be happy. He wants to talk to her, but his words never come out right, so he nods and remains silent. He sees the sand shift before it should and grabs her to stop her movement. Instead, she starts to say something and he covers her mouth as she throws punches and fights him. He finally gets her attention and nods so that she sees the zemlja which looks for prey by sound. He saved her life, she is grateful. Until he says, “A male protects the fragile.” Instantly, she is furious again! Frustrated, he tells her she does not understand. “Women are TREASURES!” And though she shakes her head, the anger is gone and her eyes are gentle. Is he making progress with her? If only he knew what he had said that was pleasing to her!
This was a cute Christmas-themed story. Padraig is not the best at communication and everything he says is taken the wrong way by Maeve. Will the upcoming Christmas celebration the ladies are planning give him a way to reach her heart and let her know how he feels about her? Grab your book and find out if the Spirit of Christmas is on Tajss this year!
