Passion burns hot in Dragonfire, the next Dark Kings novel from New York Times bestseller Donna Grant. It was a soul-deep longing, one that got into his bones and settled there, sending whispers of desire through him. The need, the hunger, grew tenfold with every breath. . . . As a Dragon King, Roman is sworn to protect all mortals–even though they no longer believe in dragons. But deep in … they no longer believe in dragons. But deep in the Carpathian Mountains, he discovers a beautiful and mysterious gypsy who possesses the power to see into his very soul. To reignite the fire in his heart. And to help him find the long-lost sword that could save the dragons forever…
Sabina remembers the stories her grandmother told her. Legends of dragons and kings, fire and ice. And she’s never forgotten the dark prophecy that filled her ancestors with fear–a fate they tried to prevent by stealing a Dragon King’s sword. Sabina knows that helping Roman is dangerous. He is a dragon betrayed, and more powerful than any man. He could destroy her in a single fiery embrace. But how can she resist the longing in his eyes–or the feelings in her heart–when their destinies are bound by desire?

I haven’t been this immersed in a series since JR Ward. Epic. Heartbreaking. Thrilling.
All the Kings know it is time. V needs his sword back and they should have helped him find it years ago. This time when he goes looking he will not be alone. Roman is joining him. Their quest will lead them both to the lands they used to rule as well as two siblings who will play a key role. Sabina is full Romany and her brother Camlo is half but both have the sight. The things they find out in this book go a long way in telling us more about the group after the Kings, but I don’t want to give anything away. Another winner from Donna Grant. She has quickly jumped to my top five favorite authors with this series.
Wow what a fantastic, action-packed story this was.
I absolutely loved Roman and his chemistry and the late dawning of his feelings for Sabina were amazing. Roman and V are on the hunt for the elusive sword. What they find may be their downfall. So much goes on this story it’s like you hold your breath and hope everyone turns up on the flip side of things. I have truly every book thus far from this author involving the Dragon Kings and Reapers…
**I read this book via Kindle Loan Library and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Dragonfire by Donna Grant is book 14 in the Dark Kings series. This is the story of Sabina and Roman.
This can be a standalone book but does have the undertones of a larger story through the series.
Roman is working to locate the sword that has eluded them so far when he meets Sabina and her brother Camlo who may have the needed information to find the sword.
Sabina knows of the old tail of Dragons and swords from her family/grandmother and has lived with the information for a while. Sabina and her brother both have special skills that have helped them so far in life. When working to assist Roman feelings between the two start to form leading them to possible find something more together.
This has been a long series but each book brings another great story to add to the series.
I found the heroine and her brother extremely fascinating in Dragonfire. So much so that when the author would change POV’s with other Dragon Kings or Rhi, I was impatient to get back to them. Since I enjoy getting everyone’s POV, that just speaks to how much I liked these two.
My fascination stems from not only the gypsy background, but I also found both siblings abilities to be pretty cool, especially Camlo’s. He uncovered a lot in this book that we didn’t know yet. While we got a lot of answers, we also got more questions. However, I still feel like we are a step closer than we were.
Rhi is concerning me and I want her to find happiness. It seems like she just keeps getting kicked down. I love her character and I really want to see her happy in the end. I’m nervous for her.
I love that the Reapers are intermixing with this series and their own. You almost need to read both series as they all publish to stay up to date on everything that is going on. This isn’t a hardship since I’m loving both series.
4.5 Stars The fourteenth book in the Dragon Kings series, Dragonfire brings us Roman and Sabina. I enjoyed this story and like getting more of an insight into V. These characters are well developed and the interaction between all of them is engaging and the well written story make it a wonderful read.
If you ever want to get a taste of Dragons this series is a great on one to get into. The author has made the characters so human but the problems so magical and they story keeps you guessing right till the end. When Roman and V who are Dragon Kings go on the several years search for V’s sword the don’t expect to meet a gypsy girl Sabina and her brother Camlo who know how to find it. Just Camlo’s vision and Sabina’s help are like a map but the journey is very dangerous and even though Dragon Kings are almost impossible to kill it can be done. I loved Romans character and I think there maybe more to V’s character than we know but it makes me look forward to the next one.

Dragonfire (Dark Kings, #14) by Donna Grant …. This is Ronan and Sabina’s story… Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. Ronan is a Dragon King who is helping V find his sword. Sabina is a gypsy who is helping with the search along with her brother Camlo who has the mind of a child…but can talk to the animals. This books has so many twists and turns some answers and more questions…. Druids, Fae, Gypsy’s and Dragon Kings (oh my)… danger, mystery, laughter, tears and steamy sex all getting us to a HEA and anxiously waiting for the next book.
Roman is desperate to get V and his memories back together! Each time V wakes up he slips a little further into madness. Roman is worried that the time will come where he cannot drag his friend back from the verge of insanity.
On the quest for V’s sword, which is also tied to his sanity, they land in Romania and are drawn towards Sabina and her brother. Sabina is Romani but her mother left her nomadic tribe and settled with her new husband on a farm and Sabina and brother had a settled life. Now left to care for her brother on her own, Sabina makes her living selling jewellery online. Camlo, well he is a real Dr Doolittle , he can talk to any animal, which has made him a target for bullies, along with his size.
When V and Roman appear nearby, she feels weirdly safe with them and Camlo takes to them like old friends. She soon realises that they are part of a story told to her by her grandmother before she left the tribe. But how does she tell Roman, who she has intense feelings for, that her family is responsible for V’s madness?!?!
Roman is staunch, sexy and a solid friend. Sabina is intelligent, endearing and sassy. Camlo is just all things sweet and such a beautiful, naïve, innocent character in the middle of all the chaos.
There are enough back history points, that even if you have missed a book or two in the series (how very dare you!) you can still follow along with the story arc. Great staff and can’t wait for more!
Sabina is Romani with the sight. Her special brother Camlo talks to animals. Those two thing alone make this story interesting. Adding in all the twist and shocks it is hard to put down. The world building is fantastic and I must read the others in the series.
Dragon Kings Roman and Vlad are in Romania searching for V’s sword that was stolen from him eons ago, losing the Dragon King’s ability to call their dragon’s back from another world. Planning to go over every inch of the Carpathian Mountains if necessary, they unexpectedly stumble upon Sabina and Camlo, gypsy half siblings, and discover more than they’d ever hoped to.
Ulrik’s story (Torched) was such an anticipated and more-than delivered-tale of redemption for me, so I was expecting more for Dragonfire. I think it fell flat. At least the romance did. No sizzling chemistry or tugs on the heartstrings between Roman and Sabina was something I found frustrating. They just…I don’t know…meandered? their way though the story leaving me feeling meh when I finished.
Overall, the story was okay. There was a lot happening at different levels and the details seemed to bog down the plot. This wasn’t one of my favorite books in the series and felt like a filler the way it plodded along.
Dragonfire is Book 14 in the Dragon King series and while it isn’t necessary to read the entire 30+ book series in order, the multitude of characters and politics can be overwhelming at times. I find reading the shorter series within the world easier to pick up the finer details and follow along with minimal difficulty.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Roman is a Dragon King who is helping another Dragon King, V, find his sword. They go to his homeland in Romania and stumble across a man who talks to animals. Sabina comes from a long line of gypsies and has the Sight but doesn’t use it. She has been taking care of her brother since their parents died. He is a man with a child’s mind and he talks to the animals.
V doesn’t remember how is sword was stolen but when he touches Camlo, he gets a little bit of his memories back. Now they are off to Iceland, where Roman is from and the group flies there. They come to a big mountain but Roman and Sabina are the ones who have to go hunt for the sword. They are faced with several obstacles but together they can do anything.
I don’t want to give too much away but this is an excellent story. You have dragons, faes, druids, and Others. A dragon who finds his mate and a gypsy who has been alone for way too long. You don’t want to miss this book.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
The dragon kings are yummy. Definitely some hot sex scenes.
Exciting story and cool spin on Vlad the Vampire. Druids aren’t the only humans that have magic. Gypsies have “the sight” that really adds to this story.
Roman will need all the help he can to find his sword. The reader finally starts to learn more about the others. Hold on to your hat, life is going to get crazy for the kings.
To ne honest, I love everything Donna Grant bur, I loved this book!! Can’t wait to read about The King of Dragon King’s!!!
Roman and Sabina are wonderful together. Donna spins a wonderful tale of the search for V’s sword. Roman and V return to Romania for the search. They discover Sabina and Camlo during their search. Sabrina is a gypsy that knows of the Dragon Kings and has looked for them her whole life. She works on her family’s farm with her special needs brother, Camlo. Camlo loves his animals and has more gypsy traits then Sabina (Bina) realized, as she has taken care of him after their family died. I love how Camlo is a large part of the story in returning V’s sword. The Dragon Kings acceptance of Camlo made me happy. More hints are dropped regarding Rhi’s King – the list is getting shorter! The adventure that V, Roman, Sabina and Camlo complete to find V’s sword is filled with danger. Of course there is always dark magic involved and the group work to discover who is behind V’s memory loss and the challenges they find in their search for the sword. Sabina and Camlo end up at Dreagan and it is wonderful to see the other cast of characters. Donna always gives our Dragons their HEA and Roman is no different – although the journey to happily ever after is very rocky.
I love this whole series. Every book adds to the existing storyline and builds the suspense!
Another passionate and intense dragon king novel that sees us definitely heading towards something big. Something we are all waiting for! More secrets are revealed, new mysteries are uncovered and a lonely gypsy girl falls in love with a loyal dragon king. The characters in this one drew me in, especially the sweet, innocent Camlo and his affinity to animals. He added another layer that really gave it that little extra something. All our favorites make an appearance and I love where it all seems to be heading. A great story that again answered some questions only to leave us fumbling in the dark waiting for the next dragon king story!
This was a great addition to this series. Each story gets more convoluted and the world builds to a more intricate level with each passing novel. I also like how you could read each book as a stand-alone and it’s fantastic, or you can read them in order and it builds to this immense world that just envelops you. Fantastic storyline, great pace and plot, and I love the setting that this one is set in! Fabulous job, and thank you for the opportunity to review this work!
This is Roman and Sabina’s story. The continuing of the Dragon Kings world. I have never cared and loved a series as much as all these stories. After reading this you’ll want to go back to where they start.
