I am still engrossed in this series. Seleska and her friends are still trying to stay ahead of Atura and her impostors, but are having a hard time. Things go wrong and they end up playing catch-up. This may not be such a bad thing if the tests know who is right and who is wrong.
Tides of Change is book six in the Dragon Tides series and I definitely recommend that the books are read in order. Seleska, Nasataa and Heron are in search of the three keys .. they have to stop their enemies from getting them first. This series is gaining momentum now and the characters have become more rounded. The romance is growing nicely, the quest is clear but the dangers are not. It is great to meet characters such as Amel and Raolcan from previous books. Nasataa is simply adorable and growing so fast, he’s a brave and feisty Dragon with childlike clumsiness at times.
It’s no surprise that I’ve been totally lovin’ Sarah K. L. Wilson’s Dragon Tide series. After all, she’s one of my favorite authors and I loved the predecessor series (which this series can definitely be read on a stand-alone basis from). No, the real surprise is how the series just keeps on getting better and better. That’s certainly the case with the series sixth book, Tides of Change. It is just simply is superb. Well written, with a great plot, a perfect cast and perfect world-building. I’m still as enthusiastic about Seleska and Nasataa as I was when I first “met” them. This story is a fantastic adventure. Also totally fun. Exactly what I look for and easily worth five stars.
Dragon Tide: Waves of Destiny is book five in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s Dragon Tide series. This series ties into her other dragon series, and this story is tinged with tragedy and loss. Seleska, Heron, Nasataa, and Hubric are on the run. If you’re familiar with these characters by this point then that is nothing new. Atura has led the manticores to the dragons, and there are traitors in their midst as well. Now, the race is on to acquire the keys needed inorder to save the world, the dragons, and magic from disappearing or falling into the wrong hands.
I love how these stories just come and blend together to create such a tapestry of storylines coming together and creating some unique and engaging. Seleska is seeing first hand that danger goes hand in hand with adventure. She’s made some foolish decisions – some by accident and others of her own doing, and the consequences are coming back to deal her blows of loss and tragedy. This story is longer than the last, but since this is a fast-paced series it ends quickly and with a high tension moment. I love reading about Nasataa’s growth and development. I just with that I could see more growth and development from Seleska as well.
I truly enjoy these stories, but I’m ready for Seleska to…in essence…grow up. In the beginning, when she was doing her big mischevious smiles, big eyes, etc to win her way with individuals it was charming, fun, and even humorous. Now…I hate to say it but…it’s getting annoying. She needs to understand that that’s not always going to work for her. She does get a bit of a reality check concerning her ego in a couple of moments, but she needs to grasp the fact more that this is a serious situation and she needs to mature.
All in all, I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. This story is engaging, I’m enjoying the developing romance between Seleska and Heron. I’m loving seeing Nasataa’s growth and I’m eager to read about the challenges that are ahead for them all. Grab the tissues for this one, because it will tug at your heart.
Seleska Heron and their dragon companions are on the run with enemies close behind. They have to find a place to rest or things could get even worse for them. Thanks to Atura they actually make it to the Dominion and Dominar. Both sides are given a guard/guide to help them reach the place to take the test. Who will make it there first and pass the test to get the key they need??
I really enjoyed this one. Seleaka is begin reminded over and over that she is not alone. That message is finally starting to sink in. I just hop that its not too late!
Summary of my thoughts:
Storyline development this episode: 5/5
Character development: 5/5
Morality lessons: 5/5
Interest maintained: 5/5
Hook set for next episode: 10++++
For those wanting to know…what happens next??:
As the title suggests, the ‘tide is changing’ in that Seleska, Heron and their dragons are successful (for the most part) in escaping Atura and the Manticores, and find themselves face-to-face with the Dominar and her purple dragon Raolcan (YES! The very dragon from “Dragon School”!) Their mission: still is finding the “Keyes”, but now they have a dragoneer and his dragon appointed to accompany them. If only all their problems were thus overcome! But now Seleska’s heart itself is starting to be tested for its purity. Lessons she must learn: 1)she also must acknowledge “I have to rely more on other people instead of just myself”; 2) she is only successful in blocking evil when she ‘pushed away all {her} frustration and anger and {found} gratitude in {her}heart’—a lesson we all need to heed!
This is a Fantastic series. Its fast paced and action paced. It had me on the edge of my seat with this real page turner. I love the little Dragon and how he communicates, Seleka is in for quite the adventure to find the item first. I definitely recommend this fantastic read.
