Such an engaging story!
I listened to the audio version. Don’t attempt to read/listen to this as a standalone. This is a serial. And a lovely one at that. Each episode comes quickly after the other. It’s so well written! Such an engaging story! Captivating as ever! So good!!!
I love Seleska more and more, she’s so brave and devoted to Nasataa! And I love Nasataa more and more too! He’s so cute.
And the narrator did a good job with all the different voices. I know that can be different, but it was done really well!
Sometimes you can tell a book, or an entire series, by its / their cover(s). That’s certainly the case with the books in Sarah K. L. Wilson’s
Dragon Tide series, the second book of w of which, Dragon Staff, is wonderfully delicious. Can Seleska keep her baby dragon safe? I’m not going to say, but I will guarantee that whether or not you’re a dragon story lover (like me), you’ll have outstanding reading pleasure finding out. This book was simply perfect and, for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to Desperate Flight, the next book in this series.
Book one ended with Seleska returning to her village, but now she is faced with the villagers’ prejudice against blue dragons. Additionally, the village itself is at risk if the mercenaries decide to return and try to capture her again. So she leaves with her baby dragon Nasataa and her friend Heron. I’m kind of relieved that he has picked her over his apprenticeship. She will definitely need a friend before this is over. As the adventure continues, they are joined by new companions, attacked by new enemies, and secrets about Seleska and her dragonlet are revealed. It’s a fun adventure, and as other reviewers have noted, would be fun to read aloud to children or grandchildren. A couple of small complaints, Seleska is a bit too naïve for her own good and I do feel a bit trapped in her head sometimes. Hopefully, this will change as the story continues. But those are small things. I’m sure she will grow into her role as dragon protector.
I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author and have reviewed it willingly.
Dragon Staff by Sarah K.L. Wilson is the second part in the Dragon Tides series. Picking up right where the first left off, Seleska is on her journey to protect her dragonlet!
This is very well written with vivid and imaginative detail that pull you right in. Terrific characters and storyline, I am really enjoying this series and cant wait for more!
And the adventure begins. Seleska accepts her role as Nasataa’s protector and is kept quite busy! Lots of action and new allies. It’s getting interesting.
One small dragon and a young girl get into a lot of trouble
This book was amazing. Seleska is so determined to care for the baby dragon Nasataa. She is willing to give up her home and her life but maybe not her boots to see that Nasataa stays safe. Heron desires to keep Seleska safe and is willing to do anything to achieve that goal. The characters are wonderful. The storyline flows well. There is a lot of action. Each person has a distinct personality and has growth. This story is sad and has some silliness. Seleska is learning that the world is not a nice place. I can’t wait to read book 3.
Dragon Staff is the second book in the new Dragon Tide series. I definitely recommend that these books are read in order as each book continues straight on from the previous one. Seleska and Nasataa return home to the village only to discover that everyone, including her own family, considers the baby blue dragon a danger and her curse. They want it dead. Seleska’s decision to leave to protect Nasataa results in her having to grow up fast.
An interesting storyline and some good characters but in such a short book the characters come and go quickly. Lacks a little depth. I feel as if this series so far is rushed. Still good but too short and not enough detail.
Dragon Tide: Dragon Staff by Sarah K.L. Wilson is the continuation of Seleska’s story. Prepare to be quickly pulled back into this story as the author picks up where Dragon Tide: Dragonlet left off. Seleska has some hard choices a head of her, and danger is not done hunting her as she will soon quickly understand.
Dragon Tide: Dragon Staff picks up where book left off and Seleska’s adventures continue. As expected the author shows readers that Seleska’s village isn’t going to be accepting of her small dragon friend. It’s sad in light of the fact that it was because of her calling to Nasataa that the mercenary ship was destroyed in the first place. With Nasataa growing daily, the villagers against him being kept there and left alive, Seleska must make a choice to leave inorder to keep him safe. I love that the adventure only picks up from there for her. It seems that Seleska ends up in one bad situation after another, but there are good moments throughout as well.
I like that in this book the author takes readers away from Seleska’s tiny island that she has called home for over ten years. The author hints at danger with a revelation near the beginning of the story, but true danger makes an appearance shortly after Seleska leaves. The author does a fantastic job weaving in the unexpected into this book. For those who are familiar with this author other dragon series and understand the connections between dragon and rider, there is a heart-rending moment in this book.
There honestly isn’t anything that I can complain about concerning this book. The story flows excellently, keeps me captivated from beginning to end, and leaves me wanting more at the end. I am looking forward to the next book in this series/serial.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. You get a nice balance of humor, danger, thrills, and a nice taste of revelation in this story as well to bring it all together. If you have read the previous books then I highly recommend that you grab this book and dive back into the story and find out what happens next.
Wow this is a Fantastic series. I love how the baby Dragon and Seleska commuicate. Its a fast paced read that is action packed. I couldn’t put the book down. It had me on the edge of my seat. I love the creativity in this. The Narrator does a Fantastic job. And the Author really brings out the world building and the Characters you feel like your right there living vicariously through the characters. I definitely recommend this read.

Episode 2 of the Dragon Tide series, pulls us deeper into the story and pulls back the curtain on what is occurring in the world apart from Seleska’s peaceful island domain. It is not a pretty, nor peaceful, picture. Seleska is an immature young lady, who is just learning to be responsible for someone other than herself, and is yet in need of education and training herself—education of the true condition of the greater world; and training in how to meet the challenges she will face in this “real” world. The dragonlet of book 1, Nasataa, is present, but there are few hints of what the future holds for our heroine and her ward (the hatchling)—other than that danger awaits them in the greater world. The adventures that occur in this episode underscore the woeful state of preparedness in Seleska at this time. I await with eagerness the next episode in our new saga.
Second book in the series, Seleska and her baby dragon Nasataa keep getting into more scrapes and have to find a way out of danger. They find help in some unexpected places. Making new friends and re connecting with old ones. I can’t wait to see what else they get up to in the future.
Seleska and Nasataa are at it again. In this second book they find themselves in yet more trouble. Seleska believes leaving will keep the village safe, but it just lands her in a worse situation. Her new friend may be her and Nasataa’s only salvation if they can just stay out of way of the enemy she has made. Even with all the trouble which seems to seek them out I am loving the antics of this baby blue dragon. The ending of this book is making me curious to see what trouble they may find themselves in in the next book.
